  1. I really, REALLY dislike having to deal with smartass brats whose word isn't worth the pixels on the screen, but I will respect the mores of the board and not put him on the probation list if I cannot do it without actually selling him the book. I will not, however, sell the book to him. He can find it elsewhere. I find it extremely distasteful that this "gentleman" can avoid the probation list at the 11th hour, but if those are the rules, I will respect them. This guy clearly has no respect for this board, basic manners, or even his own word. Remember when a man's word was as good as gold? I don't, because I was born in the '70s. I've heard that it was really cool, though. I was born in the '50s (1957) and it was really cool. (thumbs u I often talk about how rare honesty and common decency are nowadays. It's automatic for me to hold open a door for anybody (not just women) and I've heard people say they don't see that much any more. If I'm at a grocery store and I have 12 items and somebody behind me has 2 I let them go first. It's really sad that common courtesy, common decency and just plain old honesty are no longer that common. Sounds anecdotal. Maybe you prefer: Sounds like it suffers from both selection bias and confirmation bias

  3. Some Batman sigs and sketches available here. Hulk 180 signed by Len Wein and a ToS 12 signed by Stan here.
  4. I've been a member of many of the "keys" clubs over the years and this is the one I have the most trouble leaving.
  5. Despite ebay's problems (and they are numerous), the audience is still MUCH larger than here.
  6. That's not exactly fostering a strong public market.
  7. I've been saying all along that kudos threads are useless. The last couple discussions in this thread are providing data that the kudos threads aren't just useless but are downright misleading and are actually lulling buyers and sellers into a false sense of security. For the millionth time: feedback threads that do not allow for negative comments provide no utility when making informed buying and selling decisions. Time to abolish the kudos threads.
  8. Crack it out and get it signed by Eastman.
  9. erm ... not sure what you're talking about What's there not to understand? TMNT is WD because TMNT was NOTHING but then became successful even though anthropomorphic comics aren't that great, quiet frankly, and we all know what happened to the 80s black and white boom because everyone likes the underdog until the underdog becomes the overdog and then everyone hates the player. Therefore, TMNT = WD. Easy peezy.
  10. Oh, and I also received a couple books direct from Mirage. They did go to the trouble of putting them in a stiff cardboard sleeve but the books themselves did not have a bag and board. Surprisngly one of the books actually looks like a legit 9.8 candidate. The other maybe a 9.4 because of a little nick in one of the corners. Just FYI.
  11. Just got this in the mail from .Troy, as drawn by his wife Holly. I think it's pretty dang cool.
  12. The fourth comment down in that post is interesting...
  13. I can think of two other people who would fit neatly in this discussion so I assumed nothing.
  14. Speaking of sig series I have an MM 24 signed by Buckingham if anyone's looking.
  15. Just picked this guy up today from a shop:
  16. Sweet copy, people would buy that in a hot minute! Thanks. My ears are always open to offers on, well, pretty much anything in my collection.
  17. Thanks for the perspective. Seems rational to me. If anyone wants to help me grade my copy, feel free to do so here: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6840145#Post6840145
  18. So is the consenus that this book is stagnant or that it has room to grow? I have a low grade copy that I'm trying to decide what to do with.
