  1. Just an update regarding the ever-ongoing debate over the Black vs. White label printings of #1.

Just did a quick search on Ebay. Sorting by Highest to Lowest Price, on the first page alone there are 45 individual copies of #1 for sale. 38 are white and 7 are black.

Just like any poll, survey or census, this sample should relate to the entire population. Based on an estimated print run of 7500 copies for #1, there is likely to only be about 1166 copies of the Black label.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

  2. Hi everyone!

I've never posted on the forums before (guess I'm a bit shy) but like the rest of you, I'm also into comics and having them graded.

I came across this thread awhile back and became obsessed with finding this Wolverine issue in at least a 9.6 condition. I submitted two that I already had and one came back as a 9.0 and the other as a 9.4.

A few months ago I was at a comic shop in Ventura and they had a copy of Wolverine #35 shoved in a box on the floor. It was in a bag (no backing board) and it was marked VF+. I bought it for less than $2 and sent it in last month along with two other comics. I did look it over before sending it and only saw the infamous production defect but other than that everything looked fine.

I got my comics back Friday and well here it is

I apologize for the scan and wish I'd paid the extra imaging cost offered by the CGC.

I know there is one other person who has Wolverine #35 in 9.8 but as for me, I couldn't be happier. (Unless it had come in at a 9.9 or 10!)

    Cheers!

Great story and a (worship) to you sir! Welcome.

Hey, is it just me (who hasn't been paying much attention until recently) or is the 2nd print starting to trend significantly upwards?

The last few raw sales on ebay have averaged about $250 and none of them have been advertised as Near Mint.

And then there are, of course, the $1000 - $10,000 BIN (OBO) listings....

  4. I've talked to a lot of retailers about this particular one. I think there are way less than 1k of these. True they are popping up on ebay, but that's to be expected when a book starts blowing up like this one has since it's release. Pretty much every issue of Amazing has had a 1:10,1:25 ,or 1:50 variant whatever. Out of the 35; 30 or so retailers i have talked to had no intentions of bumping their orders to reach the 1:50 incentive. Most of these guys sell around 30-40 copies of amazing. Since most of these amazing variants sit in the $10 box of who gives a frak there was no urgency to raise up another 10 copies just to get another spider-man variant. If you add up all the stores that bought under 50 copies, it will add up to a pretty decent number. I would be surprised if there are more than 500-600 of these. Also, the copies i have inspected came in with spine dings galore.

Interesting hm As of this post, there isn't a single copy for sale on eBay.

Edit: Also, you're right about the spine dings, my OO copy has a few of them and a lot of the copies I have seen for sale have had them too.
