I keep track of what I order from my LCS, And I ordered one copy of Mondo #1. It for sure was released on 2/22. Not sure about the others.

Yep, it's official. Mondo 1 can now serve as your coaster or placemat.

    lol

  2. Well, here's one Filter81 / Adam has up for grabs a little closer to reality:

Detective Comics 27 Restored EP 0.5

Lord, I'd love to own this book. But to even place a THRILL bid, I'd need to sell of my signed AF 15 and most likely my absolute gem: a book from the collection of J.R.R. Tolkien signed by the man himself. Even, I'd still probably lose this auction.

Yikes, that one's got the lot. Extensive restoration, a reproduction cover and Brittle Pages. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

  3. Would love to see something like that in person.

I kind of miss having the book, and CGC seems to assign value to make-ready books, so I might have had something perceived by others as quite valuable.

I know how you feel. I have a book ... this (circa 2003, yes i know this is about the 90's, just as an example)

And from time to time i have considered trading it .. but i know i would regret it for all eternity ... it's a book i'll never ever ever see again. it's that tough.

Last night, I dreamed I held you in my arms :cloud9:

  4. I don't know how many of you are on the Technodrome Forums but I posted about this same thing over there but thought it was worth a discussion here as well.

Did anyone catch the last episode of "Comic Book Men" on AMC? If not, there are some details here. Basically, TMNT #1-4 made an appearance in a segment.

Most importantly though for collectors and those seeking TMNT #1 1st print, note the following interesting item. During the episode there was a written explanation they showed (as they always do) to explain what the collectible is and its importance. It read something to the effect of, "A graded TMNT #1 1st print recently sold for $20+K." I specifically keyed in to the words they used on this (or didn't use in this case). Note they said it was graded but not what grade. Only TMNT #1 in 9.8 grade has ever sold at that price but they never stated or clarified this. So, this information was put out there (in a very public way) and this could have big implications on the price of TMNT #1 1st print in any condition. It may already have impacted the price given that recent sales of TMNT #1 (both 1st and 2nd printings).

Bottom line...a lot of people just were told that a graded TMNT #1 is worth $20+K.

That reminds me of when I saw a listing on ebay for a copy of X-men #94, clearly in terrible shape. The seller wanted $5,000 for it because comicspriceguide.com listed the issue as worth $8,400 in Gem Mint.

There are a lot of people that think an issue is what it is, and don't understand the importance of condition. Heck, that used to be me until a little over a year ago - when I got back into collecting after a long hiatus and found sites like this. It's laughable now but I can understand it.

  5. It's Wednesday (or New Comic Book Day :ohnoez:)

So here is what is currently hot on eBay. This list will probably changed dramatically in the next couple of hours as the lunch crew race to their LCS and carefully unwrap their newest variants with a sadist grin knowing that they and only they can flip said book for multiple $$ on eBay within minutes!

    • Thief of Thieves #1
    • Batman #13 Variant
    • Batman #1 Variant

What's the deal with ASM 583?

    Assuming its the Obama Variant

FOUR MORE YEARS! FOUR MORE YEARS!

  6. I say Kirkman gives us a curveball and say the TWD is taking place on an island where crazy stuff goes down and they got on this island after a plane crash. The real reason as to how the zombies happened was because somebody stopped pressing the magical numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 ......... that sounds unique right....... ;)

    :gossip: WD would use 1, 2, 19, 27, 48 and 61.

  7. Wednesdays are starting to remind my of that show "The Amazing Race".

I can just picture all the amateur sellers rushing to the stores, staring down other sellers while buying as many copies of the hot books as they can stuff into their satchels. Then rushing home as quickly as humanly possible to be the first to get 'in-hand' copies up on Ebay.

This is how I picture it in my mind:
