14K for a 3.0 sounds like a good deal considering these on ebay are 2.5s for around 16k

I have never found one in the wild not even at a LCS. I asked some around me if they ever had one for sale and 1 store said yes but they only had 1 copy in the almost 30 years they had been in business. I remember as a kid going to local cons and they had the book and I wanted it then but those were very high grade copies for like $1,500 to $2,000. Where is my delorean?

It will be confusing that much is for certain until they tell us more. I am just saying if they did what they did with Venom 150 expect the un expected. Personally I don't care how they calculate it as long as they go back. If I missed anything I will eventually go back and fill in the holes. I miss the old numbering system, it just had more meaning. I have noticed prices on the books for reboots and such and while they are in that series the prices are higher, once they move to a new reboot the previous reboot drops. Ever since they moved from ASM 700 to Superior the value of ASM 1 was and remained stagnate for some time. It was not until the last few months I noticed an uptick in the value of ASM 1 which is about the same time renumbering back started up. I wonder if there is any coincidence. It seems to me ASM 1-700 have more meaning and value with them returning back to the old numbering. I noticed when DC did the rebirth that Action and Detective reverted back and it was at that time I figured Marvel would follow suit. I wish Marvel would stop following and start leading a bit. I know many people who consider Superior as not a part of the Amazing run but I don't see how you couldn't. I believe all of those .1 books will play into the renumbering as well.

No I think your OK in my book. I am driving a 14 year old car I bought in 2011 for 4K. Cars to me from my experience are some metal and mostly plastic and cars only (usually) depreciate in value or at least most people's do. I would spend 5K on books whenever possible than buy a car. I was out of comics in 2003 had to sell off to pay bills because of a bad life changing situation. My wife now in 2010 told me I could buy a car or comics (she thought I would take the car!) but I picked comics and I rebuilt my old collection from scratch and then some. Today the car she bought (at the time 3 years old) is now worth $4,000 private party sale and my books are well lets say I could buy several cars It's all about priorities and we all know comics are a high ranking life necessity right? I think many will see the signal and cash in but then what? AF 15 will not be cheap to replace anytime soon.

Part of my problem is that once I bring a book in, its like "It Shall Never Leave"

The people who bought these books at the current prices will not simply let the books go for a substantial loss unless their personal situation calls upon them to do so. As far as the prices dropping any all time high usually has some correction of some sort before it flat lines and moves again either up or down. Granted these price increases and decreases can occur in increments so the prices do not mean they will just drop overnight. I personally think that the economy as a whole is a ticking time bomb and it will be a matter of time before growth just stops all together or things get much worse. The housing market is fundamentally out of whack, the stock markets are over valued. Many people are having a hard time affording rentals due to the increase in demand for those for several reasons. Comics is not an investment, buy what you enjoy / love and no matter what happens to the value live with it. The price of many comics are increasing and there is not substantial new readership to boast about. I have considered selling off my entire collection several times just simply due to the elevated prices. I have not sold because I have a FOMO on owning even more valuable books in the future but I am also emotionally attached to my collection which further complicates the decision. There are a lot of things that are not right in today's environment I am quite certain of that. The prices on this book will not magically fall over night until like the Great Recession people are in a position of losing their home / livelihood. That is when all the books will come back out they will not be able to resale at the price they paid and they will come down in price and take a loss. If this happens many copies will come out and be sold at one time further driving the price of AF 15 and other books down to a new normal price level for that time being. This book will not drop from for example 30K to 15K (Bubble Burst) just like that and if it does most of us on the boards will probably not be discussing it in detail like this because the economy will be so bad we won't have the luxury of sitting around discussing the potential values of comics.

Who knows what goes through peoples minds when they bid on these kind of books. I know its hard having so much money laying around I often trip on it so its just as easy to spend it as it is to take the chance to hurt myself on it.

Cover Detached is in both the CGC label and the description, Its not like the seller hid details its a basic description. ASM is rumored at 788 see link below, I am ready for the renumber plus I am curious what all they are going to include within the renumber. For example they have a Venom 150 but they totaled up all the random Venom comics that was originally created for almost like a mini series books. I am thinking they will include the .1s and the Superior Spider-man.
