Try updating the drivers and switch software. I use Paint.net along with an HP8250. It's been a warhorse. Think I paid $35 a few years ago. My only complaint are the scratches that have accumulated on the glass, and sometimes I still have problems with reflections when scanning the thicker CGC cases.

Yeah, I'll probably be 20 years gone by 95.

I'm not really concerned about your posting style or anyone else's, so there is no need to apologize for my feelings. So your concern is how much he charges? How would you draw the line in the sand? At which magic price point does one become greedy? For example, would you consider someone greedy for charging $20? Would you consider them a saint for only charging $10? The magic of the free market economy is that you get to choose where to take your dollars, and the service provider gets to set their price. And discounts for kids? What's your cutoff age? 12? What if the kid has only been 12 for 3 days? How should he go about verifying age? And here begins the slippery slope. I would also say that Stan Lee has worked very hard to get where he is today. He's lived a charmed life? Only because of his own hard work. He grew up in a one-room apartment, shared by the rest of his family. His dad trimmed dresses for a living. Hardly the sort of "charmed" life you believe he lived. I don't begrudge anyone who builds a successful lifestyle, and the fact that you do speaks volumes about your character.

I don't think anyone has a problem with your opinion. It's the way in which you are expressing it. Stan Lee is greedy because he charges for an autograph? It's not like he is robbing or cheating anyone. He's simply offering a product and charging for it because there is market. If customers find his pricing exorbitant, they have the right as consumers to take their dollars elsewhere. I think demanding a product or service for free is the more egregious move here.

Apparently Stan is worth $50 million, according to celebritynetworth.com ... pales in comparison to Todd McFarlane's $300 million!

3204 Auctions and Beachbum are both excellent service providers. I've used them both. I like Beachbum because you don't have to pay until the book is actually graded. With 3204 Auctions, you are forced to buy advanced credits and have to purchase them three or four at a time. Both services, however, missed the boat on a few issues, and I was left (temporarily) with some critical gaps in the run. With that being said, these services make your collecting life a lot easier, and probably a lot cheaper to boot. Both are highly recommended, but I'd still have a "plan-b" in effect just in case they are unable to find a 9.8 copy. Jerry and Dre are both topnotch guys. I'm not familiar with the other services.

There is really nothing impressive about the layout or the wall books. Yes, everything is grossly overpriced, but I was far more concerned about the multitude of buckets placed around the store in order to catch water from the leaking roof of the building (this was circa 2015). Also, the staff didn't impress me as being very knowledgeable. For example, I asked about EC comics and the guy at the desk was honestly clueless about my question! I did, however, thoroughly enjoy browsing his wares. Looking through the store was a joy, but I'd never make a serious purchase there. Everything, as mentioned, is grossly overpriced. I have no idea how they stay in business and I jokingly wonder, without any proof of course, if the whole operation isn't a cover for a money laundering scheme.

I don't care if he is unknown. Based on what I've seen, I'd rather have Ash do a sketch for me than many "famous" comic artists who seem to put little to no true effort into their over-priced commissions. I've gotten some real head-scratchers from big-name artists. Yes, the name of an artist can add value but, at the end of the day, does it really matter if you're unhappy with the commission?

Actually, that's the key, making sure you have a diverse set of investments. Comics can be part of that set, but many people tend to put all their eggs in the same basket.

If it brings him joy to collect a title that no one else seems to want, then he shouldn't have to worry about losing money after he's dead or too old to spend it anyway.

Because once this hobby turns from being fun and enjoyable to being an investment...then it brings the pressures of money into the equation and that tends to kill the high, at least for me. Once it becomes an investment, for the most part you will probably stop collecting the things you truly love in favor of the next big thing. And you will more than likely get burnt through the speculation.

Collect what you love. Invest in stocks, bonds, real estate, and commodities. Your collection should be funded by disposable income.
