  1. How do I deal with it? Well, I don't get rid of a book I love until I find a book I love even more. Then it's not very bothersome.
  2. Final These books will only be available for sale here throughout the next 24 hours. The sale will end at 7PM eastern time Sunday - 12/17/17. Will knock off $200 off the total for anyone buying both. Personally, with the movie bubble for both books on the near horizon, I don't see them going down in value from here. If no one grabs them, they'll be going back on my shelves for a while.
  3. Okay, so I'm willing to part with this book because I'm slavering over something I've wanted for a long time. Part of me will regret getting rid of this special modern. Pre-production for the new Spawn movie begins in February. Before you balk at the price, consider that the last CGC 9.9 copy sold for $1895 back in August. There are a few on eBay right now for north of $2000. You can have mine for $1500 shipped to CONUS. Can't go a penny lower and to be honest I'd be A-Okay if it stayed in my collection. This book will no longer be available for sale past Sunday afternoon. Weekend only sale. Don't delay!
  4. To those who hated the film, I'm not sure what you expected. It's space-pop. A movie for kids. That's the way the franchise has always been. It's not serious science fiction. It's not serious at all. So why take it that way? To hear people talk about "flat acting" and plot holes and is funny. You've had that from the very beginning. This isn't Shakespeare folks. It's a popcorn movie, just as stupid as 90% of the other movies we enjoy from time to time. Reminds me of a guy who complained about the opening space battle in the Sith movie. "Why the _____ would they have the spaceships broadside one another like a bunch of space pirates?" Ummm...maybe because it looked really cool? You're never going to recapture the magic you felt as a child. If you can accept that axiom, which applies to many experiences (it's nearly always the best the FIRST time), then you have a shot at enjoying the movie. All I know is that I loved it. Much better than anything else released produced by the franchise since the 80s.
  5. Just saw it. Haven't had that much fun at the movies in a very, very long time.
  6. Okay, I'm trying to move this book quickly so I can buy something else, so I've dropped the price to $850 shipped. I'm already losing a few bucks at that price, so I cannot go any lower right now. The last three public sales of MGN 4 in 9.8 have been: $850; $1,000; and $1,030. Cheapest currently on eBay is $1,000. I'll be removing this book for sale late this weekend, so if you're interested, give me a shout soon.
  7. You might need a bigger sheet than the one in the link. Shop around on their site, they should have what you need.
  8. FOR SALE - one copy of Marvel Graphic Novel #4 - New Mutants: CGC 9.8 with white pages. $900 $850 shipped to CONUS Please excuse the poor scan and the reflections. This graphic novel comes in an oversized case and those don't tend to get along very well with my scanner. The book is as gorgeous as the grade indicates. We all know the movie is coming soon. This book has potential. I wish I could keep it, but I've been chasing down a few grails lately. Take advantage of my spending spree and pick this one up now! Cheaper than eBay or anywhere else as far as I know.
  9. I will not conduct business with members on the probation list, members listed in the hall of shame, or members on my ignore list. First in the sales thread or PM by timestamp is the winner. Immediate payment is expected. Check, US POSTAL money, and PayPal Goods and Services are acceptable forms of payment. Item will not ship until payment clears. I will only ship to the United States or Canada. Canadians should contact me for a quote. USPS CONUS Priority shipping & handling and insurance is included in the asking price, which includes all related fees. If the package arrives damaged, please take photographs for insurance purposes. No returns on this item. If the item for some bad stroke of luck arrives damaged, we will work it out through insurance. My kudos can be found by going HERE.
  10. Yes. I noticed a "kind" period several years ago. I can also admit that I examined the book through the slab prior to submission, and it was what I'd call a "soft" 9.8 - right on the borderline but well within the bounds of what usually passes for a modern 9.8. In other words, I spotted no defects that in my opinion would bring the grade down like it did. I have a lot of confidence in my grading ability at these levels. It's still a gorgeous book and still a 9.8 in my eyes. It's not always about the label, but it aggravates my collector's OCD. I'd just like to hear from the CGC so I can see if we're seeing the same things.
  11. Interesting. I'd say I get them more often than not, which is why this is a surprise. The case was the generation before the current one. The 9.6 in question just came back in a fresh case and was recently graded.
  12. This is true, but not really relevant if they consistently grade each new submission with a standard in mind, which is part of that you're paying for. * * * My main argument is that there should be a notable flaw to bring a book down from 9.8 to 9.6. I know the differences in 9.9s and 10s are so close that it can almost go on a "feeling" but the drop from NM/MT to NM+ should definitely be explained. The notes should simply exist. Having to pay for them is an entirely different point. I just wish I had the option!
  13. While I'm at it, it makes no sense why I have to pay $10 for Golden Age notes and $5 for Modern.
  14. Recently sent off a 9.8 to get signed. Dropped a grade when it came back. Tried to look up the graders' notes but none were available. CGC, if you're going to ding grades, especially in this sort of situation, the least you could do is tell me WHY the book dropped in grade. There should be a quantifiable reason why a former 9.8 dropped a grade. Looking through the slab, the comic looks as picture perfect as the day I sent it away, so there was no damage throughout the entire process of getting it done. Also, why lose out on the $5? You force us to pay for this information. Apparently you're hurting yourselves by not making them available. Is this a way to drum up business for the CCS?
  15. Does CGC give a conservation label for books that have undergone a deacidification treatment? How can you tell if a comic has undergone this treatment?
  16. * Looks at bank account...takes Mylanta...looks at the wedding ring on my finger and hears the wife in the next room...drink more...check bank account again *
  17. That number 9 is probably the coolest book in this thead, which is saying a WHOLE LOT! And Susan Cicconi is certainly among the very best in the world at this. This thread is a whole lotta awesome. Can't freakin' wait for my book! So lucky to have stumbled across this.
  18. I think I'm the only guy on the planet that liked the Hateful 8... although the -script made me wonder if Tarantino gets...tumescent...whenever Samuel Jackson says the "N" word.
  19. I realize the point you are trying to make, but some directors are versatile and others are very stylistic. For me, Tarantino falls in the later category. His "thumbprint" is unmistakable. It's kind of like Mike Mignola. He could draw Barbie and Wolverine, but you'd still be able to tell it was Mignola's art. I am a huge Tarantino fan. I am also a huge Star Trek fan. I just think there are better options. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a Tarantino Trek just because...
  20. Totally disagree. He's an amazing storyteller. I do agree, however, that the gratuitous gore and constant foul language are a distraction. That being said, I can't imagine him involved with a Star Trek film. Not his style.
