  1. You've clearly misunderstood my advice. You manipulate the contrast on the photo WITHOUT saving the changes. This will allow YOU to better detect any potential problem areas on the book because defects (and some forms of resto!) will show up as you play with the settings. I'm not talking about manipulating photos to make them look better when posting books for sale or any other nefarious use of photo editing software. I'm talking about using tools in creative ways to examine a book.
  2. A good idea is to take your pic and manipulate it in a photo editing program. Turn the contrast up and down to show any sort of flaws. It really is too hard to accurately grade when you only have scans. I think I see a tic on the lower left hand corner of the cover. I'd say 9.4 is a safe bet based on very limited information, but who knows?
  3. Don't be afraid! I won't be insulted. If you'd like this item, I'll entertain any and all offers. Lowballers always welcome! You never know! I will leave this up for another week.
  4. It's important to note that the box I'm selling here is UNOPENED. The illustrations above are stock photos. I will gladly provide any additional pictures you need upon request!
  5. For sale - one "Weedian" vinyl figure from Unbox Industries. Very limited 2015 release. Sold out fast. Came in different variants. I'm parting ways with one of the original "leaf" variants (green color). The figure was inspired by Arik Roper's artwork for the "Dopesmoker" album by Sleep - one of the most influential doom/stoner rock bands of all time. If you haven't checked out Arik's work, you're missing out! He is amazing. Probably one of the most sought after artists by musicians in the heavy metal scene. I am NOT selling the album you see below, which is for purposes of illustration. This auction is for the vinyl figure. It is in the same brand new condition in which is was shipped to me. This is quite nice! The display presentation is phenomenal. These are difficult to track down. Get mine for less than the one sitting on eBay right now. $800 SHIPPED TO THE USA I won't be leaving this up for long.

  11. I think he's been a little slow in the past at times, probably due to his job, but he's always made it right. Seems like a solid dude with lots of means to make things happen. Just my 2 cents based on observation. I've never done business with him.
  12. So, are we going to talk about how Gabe may have been right on the crypto? He's probably living a sultan's life by now.
  13. Because you are buying them from Amazon and eBay through a middle man who wants to profit from the sale. Buy them directly from E. Gerber. Problem solved.
  14. Yep. I noticed after I progressed through the thread. Wanted to hit it ASAP just in case.
  15. To succeed wildly at something that you're actually terrible at doing. I would normally applaud such astonishing overachievement, but that would mean applauding a system based on anything but meritocracy. Think of all of the legitimate artists who will die unknown and poor. Then, you have straight bums making millions. How does this even happen?
  16. Recently purchased a Phantom Stranger DC horror book from nochips. Super cool book! Accurate grading. Packaged with extreme care and shipped at a reasonable price. Great communication. Generated a mailing label within hours of payment, and the book arrive quickly. Flawless transaction. Just like it should be. I appreciate it. Hope to do business again soon!
  17. Here is a product I found. They state very directly on their FAQ page that their product will remove the new ink smell from books. I've never used this product. Try this???
  18. if you try the Ozone machine, make sure that it's positioned higher than the book. Ozone will grab the smelly stuff and float towards the floor. It's heavier than the air we breathe.
  19. Ozone generator. Put it in a small, enclosed space along with the book. If condition isn't a concern, just flip the book upside down and keep the covers spread so all the pages fan out. Ozone generators are also great for removing smoke odors from your car. It's not a good idea to breathe the stuff though, so make sure no one is around if you decide to use one to treat your book. Just set it and forget it. I prefer activated charcoal to baking soda, but I wouldn't apply it directly to the paper for obvious reasons. Baking soda probably won't do much, but you can try it. The mess sounds like a PITA though. Not sure that these are ideal, but it's your best shot. I've never tried any of these methods to remove odors from books, so proceed with that in mind. Here is the generator I got to remove smells: Ozone
