  1. Can you afford to completely part with 5% of your net worth? If so, carry on. If not, reconsider what you're doing. Also, the main issue with collectibles is liquidity. Keep that in mind. The fact that you're even asking about this tells me that you are already anxious about your spending in this regard. You tell yourself that you would be okay if it lost half its value. Are you lying to yourself about that?
  2. SPAWN 260 - SANDOVAL VARIANT - CGC 9.8 Killer cover by Sandoval! Loving his variants.
  3. Years ago, I left a pretty nasty message on Twitter for Erik Larsen. He responded, and I felt terrible. He was clearly hurt by my criticism, and I knew that I had taken it too far. I don't really want to beat up on him anymore, so I won't. I'd like to say that the Savage Dragon was awesome. His style fit his creation and was rather unique. He was also an important part of the early days of Image. I give him credit for what he's accomplished! But he had no business drawing Spawn, and his short run on the title marked the absolute lowest point for art in the series. Take a look at his interior work and judge for yourself. I think this is rather pathetic...
  4. SPAWN 260 - CGC 9.8 - SIGNED BY ERIK LARSEN A dialogue bubble cover.
  5. My heart breaks every time I see that Mystic comes up for sale... always bad timing! One day! Killer haul, Solar!
  6. SPAWN 259 SKETCH COVER (SANDOVAL VARIANT) - CGC 9.8 - SIGNED BY GERARDO SANDOVAL Wow! I forgot about this one! Gerardo Sandoval rocks! A nice departure from the middle school art class stuff we've been seeing. Beautiful signature book I wish I would have kept, looking back on it. Reminds me of the ultra-busy stuff Silvestri, Lee, and McFarlane would sometimes draw. Retains the classic feel of the series, with the exception of the whole "Venom-Spawn" look.
  7. You're absolutely insane and I love you for it! Thanks, Trent!
  8. SPAWN 259 - CGC 9.8 The cover of 258 was so terrible that Todd had to step back in. Several years ago, there was a guy on eBay who was selling fake double-cover comics. I guess the first clue should have been the number of double-cover comics he had for sale. Quite unusual. But you never know. I decided to roll the dice and bought a copy. My memory is a little fuzzy because it's been a while and life has moved along, but I'm pretty sure I was instrumental in busting him. Even more interesting is the fact that CGC didn't catch it. The cover art, otherwise unmemorable, made me flash back to the situation. There is an OLD thread somewhere here on the boards about it, but I quite honestly don't feel like struggling with the board's terrible search system right now. It's been a LONG day. Too bad it wasn't a real double cover. That would have been SICK. I've never seen a Spawn double-cover. Have you?
  9. I put up the complete GOT series on Blu-ray and was able to raise some money for Jim thanks to Captain Spaulding. Let's try another set! FOR SALE - BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - COMPLETE SERIES ON DVD (780P resolution) CONDITION - BRAND NEW IN SHRINK WRAP! COST - $25 (all money goes to Jim. Shipping on me). *List price is $45. I know that the same set is currently available on Amazon for $19 shipped, but that money wouldn't help out Jim. I've priced this as competitively as possible. Stock image. I'm at work and can't access the set to take a pic. Rest assured, it's brand new and shrink wrapped. The exact same condition provided by Amazon.
  10. SPAWN 258 - CGC 9.8 - SIGNED BY ERIK LARSEN I have some thoughts on Larsen's run on the series. Extremely negative ones. I'm already feeling negative energy today, and I don't care to go down a rabbit hole right now. although it's coming soon. In the meantime...how about this sig book?
  11. SPAWN 257 - CGC 9.8 At this point, Spawn was reduced to a Venom-wannabee. The tongue is a bit much. And the claws? I guess we should throw Wolverine into the gene pool? Or perhaps Shadowhawk if we want to add a little inbreeding? Have to also say that we've already "been through the center of Hell" and it was done much better with Philip Tan and Brian Haberlin. At least we get Kudranski back on the interiors, but still. I mean, look at that idiotic perspective, where the hind leg looks like a strange, shrunken growth of some sort. It's so bad. Also looks like they tried to "ink" or color their way out of it. It's impressive that the book has maintained it's long run, but continuity went out the window a long time ago. The stories. The art. It's going to get even worse, but the good news is that it got really cool again just before I stopped. ;) I knew at this point I'd be stopping at 275 - an arbitrary number, but it seemed like a nice round figure I knew there was no way I could stick around until issue 300...not with the crappy art and multiple variants. I was doing a death rattle at this point.
  12. It's not bad! I just don't like Jonboy's "Japanime" style. Also, Spawn with teeth? SMH
  13. Thanks! A 9.6 from the 40s is truly a magnificent thing to behold. Shocked I haven't gotten more interest, especially after the price drop. I have no problems hanging onto this one. This thread will close in a few hours.
  14. FLASH SALE! Feeling crazy. Seeing if the new price will drag someone out of the woodwork. Book will be taken down as soon as I get home from work this afternoon.
  15. FINAL BUMP Don't be shy to reach out with offers.
  16. SPAWN 254 - CGC 9.8 This might be the only Spawn cover where he is underwater? I can't recall another... all we need here is a silhouette of Namor or Aquaman in the background! This was probably Jonboy's finest Spawn cover.
  17. It's going to be a long time before it ends. I still have to work my way through all the mini-series, foreign issues, sketch covers, one-shots, etc. I have a TON left!
  18. Oh, I was in a touring metal band at the time. I got outside plenty.
  19. No offense taken! I'm sure it's easy to see the madness, and don't be fooled. It takes madness to pull something like this off. I am a madman! I came to grips with that long ago. It's quite possible that this collection was a byproduct of my mental illness. There was no "semi-obsessive tendencies." This was full-blown obsession. Part of my daily life, and quite pleasurable for most of the way. At one point, it had to go. That was the most mentally comforting thing. I could have made much more money selling it piecemeal, but the time and effort would have been too much to bear. There came a time when I just wanted it all gone. The pleasure came in putting it together. Once that happened, I quickly fell out of love with it.
  20. I am now willing to entertain offers if anyone wants to negotiate price, payment method, or other terms of sale. I can offer additional flexibility in some areas. This sales thread will close on Monday. Thanks for looking! I also pledge to donate 1% of sales proceeds to help out @jimjum12 Excited to see if I get the cash or if get to keep this crazy cool book! Happy either way!
  21. SPAWN 253 - CGC 9.8 - SIGNED BY PAUL JENKINS How many Spawn books have been signed by Paul Jenkins? I don't know, but I'm willing to bet you're looking at one of the only ones. Jenkins was writing the stories for a little while...back in the day. Spawn was in full on razor-maw "symbiote" mode at this point. Again, not a fan of that look. I love classic Spawn.
