  1. I'm loving David Morrisey so far. Thought he was great. He's only going to get better as the season goes on.
  2. And some of those Negan pages are pretty tempting... Lots of differences between the comic and the art, though. Lots of digital additions happening from Charlie and team.
  3. It was bound to happen. Considering some of the flipping, I think it was time Mark started getting a bit more fair of a deal on the front end.
  4. Yup-- I'm selling, the comics are mine. I bought extremely low and picked up a couple duplicates that have luckily came out all 9.8's. I've only gotten one 9.6 from #48, which I had signed by Charlie and Kirkman. I have no idea why it isn't a 9.8. It's time to get some nice OA like that cover from earlier today. I know I need to sell a bit more, but I want a cover that speaks for itself!
  5. Hi all-- sorry to rehash, but does anyone else have any thoughts on this question? I'm not too familiar with GPA, but would they have this information?
  6. Three new additions! Thanks so much to Andrew from GaCollectibles and Jon for the help!!!! These were both bought off ebay as VF/NM's
  7. Not to derail, but I figured this is the best place to ask this. Any idea on what a Walking Dead 1-50 run with #1, 19, 27 all cgc 9.8 SS's would cost? All of the raw comics would grade at NM or better, and most are locks for 9.8. The 1 and 19 is signed by Moore and Kirkman. The 27 is just Kirkman. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all! Huge help.
  8. Ditto. Variants make no sense to me, and as a new collector, thwy just add to my confusion big time. Bad enough when a book has multiple printings ...
  9. How can you tell the difference between newsstand and direct copies on the secondary market?
  10. I'm amazed to see the tanking in the B&W 1:200 variant. I think all variants are pointless, but this was a strong $250 book prior to SDCC and it's just nosedived.
  11. He lives so close to me! Not going to stock him, relax. Just didn't realize he was in the city. Figured he was on a tropical island somewhere.
  12. Getting Ready for Cincy! This is pretty much like a rap video:
  13. Did you read comics before, or did you start after the show (as in comics as a whole, not just the walking dead). Not only did I never read them, I usually made fun of people that did... I think TWD helped articulate to me that good stories can come from everywhere. I'm really into art, so perhaps the thought of owning something coveted paralleled the same way owning an original piece from an artist feels. Speaking of art, I finally bought an original piece of art from the book, and had a long dinner with Charlie at SDCC and got a nice Tyrese sketch. Not saying that all converters from the show are like me. Most aren't. But I bought the trades, read them in literally 3 days and was hooked. Easy. It's a hell of a book contrary to some of the criticism on the boards. And in terms of variants, just letting everyone know from a newbies standpoint that I don't understand them at all. I get the different covers, but owning 1's enough. It's the same exact story, right? Why on earth people are paying $700 for the Ottley 100 variant when you can put that towards a #1, or nice piece of art from Mark is interesting to me.
  14. I'm one of those newbies that watched the show, never liked comics, and knew I had to have a #1. I was also really attracted to the fact that the comic is completely different for the most part from the show. When the season ended, I needed a WD fix, and the comic was it. Perhaps people underestimate the market. And in regards to the "speculators" on the copy that just sold for 2K, I don't know a buyer/investor on here who is shortsighted enough to do that. I can't fathom that was a boardie. My money's on a converted fan. There are what, like 7,500 copies? I'm sure people were saying this when the comic hit $500.
  15. Just to add on to this, it really is crazy sometimes thinking of the idea of CGC-ing a book. Yes, it's a nice means to value/protect the book, but it really is like buying a Ferrari and keeping it in the garage. I love CGC, but from a still-new-to-the-game perspective, not everyone's rushing to put these in permanent plastic.
  16. Must stock up on 9.4's then jk but dang that is CRAZY! Why...seriously, there are only 7266 printed, and lets be generous and say only 500 got lost along the way. Id say a 9.4 out of 6800ish copies in the world is at the top end of the scale. 10 million people worldwide watch the show and 350,000+ copies of the #100 were sold... Thats a lot of people! Seems a good buy to me. People said collectors were mad when it hit $100. Didn't someones 9.8 go for something like $2700 odd last week - I'm pretty sure it was a boardie as well. Unless of course prices plummet,in which case a lot of modern boardies are screwed!!...including me.. I don't think it will TBH unless something really bad happens to the comic/show. Lets hope it doesn't. I get totally what you are saying Ed, I thought it too when they hit $500, then $1000, then $2000 and now $2700. (thumbs u My wife locked me in the doghouse for life after spending a total of $1600 on 3 copies last year. Buy one Ed - you know you want to! PS: Did you get your Revival variant in the end? Hope you do as you spotted it first - good luck mate! WD 100 sales were a result of variant chasers. Take a look at the average WD print run knock out about 25-30% of those to collectors that buying multiples and people sampling the book and then you have a closer count to the actual number of collectors. Walking Dead 1 sales are mainly due to speculators not collectors. Many people now are happy to get TPBs. Just look at how many people on here have multiple copies. Then ask yourself are they buying that many copies because the love the book or love the hype. Yes, I am a fan of WD, but all this hype stating so many people want the book is ridiculous, its the same people buying multiple copies and/ or looking for an future flip. I know there may not be a ton of people like me, but I watched the TV show, got into the comic and knew I needed a #1. I never was into comics before and I paid a premium to buy the book. Not everyone that's into TWD is on the CGC forum, so there are plenty of prospective buyers out there buying who have no idea what CGC grading/encapsulation is. Never a bad idea to stock up on a good book....
  17. Nope-- that's the regular cover. I think this is definitely Jim's best art on the JL yet. Tons of action, and there's a splash page that's absolutely stunning inside.
  18. That may be true for JL, but WD 100 had over 300,000 copies. NO NEED for a second print, let alone a third. Little demand for that kind of supply. That was my thought too. Every shop I've gone into since #100 came out has tons of copies laying around, so the story is there if someone wants to read it. It is tough to argue that this is a case of unmet demand for copies to read. Image is just reprinting to fill the new reorders. Why retailers are ordering more when most have 20+ copies bound for the dollar bin still on shelves.... Waitaminute! The retailers are ordering the later prints to milk it just as much as image. I understand, I used to be one that needed every variant as well. I used to. Now I buy one copy and that is it, but there are plenty who will still buy every version released. Both of my lcs didn't get the 97-101 reprints (except those that ordered them). I don't blame them, they still have over 40 copies of 100 plus they still have a healthy inventory of 97-99. This may be the case, which at that point, why blame Image? Comics are a biz, so good for them. Every shop i go to has STACKS of 1st prints in every cover collecting dust. And JL #1 had a print run on 200,000, sold out, then printed a second run of another 100K and sold out again. Not sure what the 3rd-8th print runs have been, but these have been sent to print based off of demand and not a money grab.
  19. Just speaking from a publishing biz perspective, they only print em because they need to. Case in point: Justice League 1 from the new 52 is up to its 8th printing and the book came out about a year ago. Demand/supply. At least they're trying to do something interesting with it to keep it fresh.
  20. Not sure if it's lone or tops, but i can't fathom that there are too many of these:
