  1. Man-- this place is awfully quiet with all the Saga hubbub happening.
  2. It'll be interesting if anyone else even hears about this since all of us keep buying up all the copies!
  3. Man, I bought one for 300 last year and thought that was a steal.
  4. To be fair, those were both SS 9.8's with sketches. 3 blue labels sold for over $400 but the sales have been cancelled and no longer show as sold. One blue label showing sold for $355 but the last two sales before that were $200 and $140. I own two blue's and would love it to be a $500 book but still would caution other potential buyers to be leery of the pricing right now as there seems to be some shilling afoot. these thin markets are so easy to manipulate. this is worse than penny stocks. So explain the raw that just sold for $350? No manipulation here, just thousands of people wanting a very scarce book. If it helps you to think its all smoke and mirrors, fair enough, but those of us who have followed, and purchased this book from day 1, know exactly the amount of "need" that is in the market right now. I bought my first PP #1 9.8 (blue) with a 9.8 copy of Alpha Girl (blue) for $70 - 6 months ago. I was in right from the start and knew, even at $110 for #1 - #6 that this was a winner. If I see a raw run of #1 - #8 for $300 or less - I will buy without hesitation. There is still an awful lot of room in this book. Simply because it is awesome. Brilliantly awesome. I don't think "thousands" of people want this book for the current price it's fetching. The values went up to crazy levels because of the TV show deal in the works. Speculators want the next WD. Look, I've read the series, and it is great stuff. HOWEVER, you can't honestly make the claim that the sudden increase in value is due solely to new readers discovering this brilliantly awesome book and now want to collect it and own a #1 for their personal collection at the current price point. Why? Basic economics of supply and demand. Compare the ratio of #1's print run to the current issue. The writer stated in the PP thread they still sell less than 5,000 copies per issue. Since #1 had a print run of 4,814 that's almost a 1 to 1 correspondence for all the true fans collecting the book to own a copy of #1. Mathematically, that would not cause the prices you see on eBay. Obviously, the added demand is coming from people who DON'T read the series. So who is it? It's specualtor's who know the book has a low print run and a TV show in the works driving up the demand. Every once in awhile some sanity comes to the boards. I hope the boardies here all make out like bandits. Just don't be the bandit holding the bag hoping for more. Get your profit and get out. I agree, I didn't mean to be a turd in the hamper. I am just blown away by how quickly these books are exploding in price. I started doing the math and if could sell all my copies for what the highest are currently going for, I could get a nice GA or silver age key. There is nothing wrong with sitting on hot books while the heat up, just don't get caught holding when the musi stops. I do think PP and Saga are great reads and that bodes well for the long term. Definitely think PP's window is shorter to strike. Not trying to creative a selling spree, but i think the book's scarcity will hurt it in the long run. Great for collectors, awful for taking it to a larger/greater audience. Saga #1 has a print run of 37K, plenty of supply for the demand, etc.
  5. I was always a naysayer when it came to the black/white label debate, but i think it's pretty easy to see there are definitely more whites than blacks available for sale. If you could choose between 9.8 black or white, pretty certain that everyone would grab a black.
  6. Completely agree. I read on iPad then buy the floppies. I had a friend give me a TPB and i skimmed it. Just did't look at vivid.
  7. I know if i think the comic is a legit 9.8, I always give it one more shot. It's worked once or twice.
  8. That's terrible. :: Googles available PO Box locations near job ::
  9. Nice! Don't get addicted with resubbing! that RRP is just fine the way it is.
  10. I'm visiting in Pittsburgh so STAY OUT OF MY WAY
  11. if his were all slabbed, it'd be over $2000, raw even i wouldnt do it. Ok wow! PP1 in 9.8 is currently being bid to almost 450, then 10 more slabs in 9.8 @ $50 a slab would be another $500, and number 2,3 and 8 would be more than $50, so that's $1000 in PP, then the two ToT top vairants and a reg 1, slabbed in 9.8 would be the other $1000. Obviously I assume they arent slabbed, but still even raw, you'd be better to slab and sell some of that stuff and buy the RRP with cash, if you really dont want to hold on to any of it. PP #1 in 9.8, if you arent planning to keep it, is probably the best bet to get most of the way there. I love ToT and have a lot invested in it, but on Ebay, you're looking at 250 max for the regular #1, and about 375 for the ComicsPro in 9.8. It cooled off a lot. I'd hold on for dear life on the PP. I watched a stack of those and Saga #1's sit at Midtown for three weeks and only bought one each. UGH.
  12. if his were all slabbed, it'd be over $2000, raw even i wouldnt do it. Ditto. I think the RRP is beautiful, but I think i'd hold tight. If anything, maybe i'd pass on the regular Saga #1 9.8, since there are nearly 38K copies floating out there. I know the RRP is valuable, but i think there can be some concessions to make the deal a more balanced trade.
  13. No doubt the RRP is more rare, but damn dude, that's a lot to give up. The TOT is one thing, but the PF 1-11?
  14. And yes, I understand the book is popular, but with the print run and amount of hoarding happening, unless the book gets INSANELY popular, like TWD, popular, the short sell may be a good idea. I know if I had an RRP, it'd be on Ebay ASAP.
  15. That's what I found. I've been in NYC and LA since New Years and went to four big shops in each city. Most we're picked clean except for current issues.
  16. They've got a few in store, but i may have picked them clean. They also had 8 copies of #2 1st print NM+++ in their back issues box for some reason and I gladly bought them all. YOINK.
  17. Best part? It's got a ton of hype without any buzz around a show. Just imagine how it'll take off if that happens. Love this book!
  18. There's an RRP cluttering up the pic, I'll take care of that! This is pretty much like porn.
  19. So, we didn't even talk about the Tony Moore page that hit 3K the other day?
