  1. Years ago I bought hunted and bought this issue in the best condition I could find it (before slabbing) at a convention. I still haven't bothered to get it graded, like so many other mint-near mint books that I have. I didn't even know about the variant cover. Wish I had gotten that one now.
  2. Someone got the ultimate deal buying two copies at the time of their release from their local store and kept them in pristine condition.
  3. I'm flabbergasted how much this issue is currently bidding for. I thought these bronze age books were suppose to be under-appreciated/undervalued? Say What?
  4. I guess you're right. I could easily buy the book but even if I did, I can't see over paying like this.
  5. Curious, does anyone know what the sweet spot grade to purchase this book is right now?
  6. Absolutely to each his own of course. But to me the wrap on high grade books is the foundation of what makes everything else less of an issue. Very close 2nd (interchangeable depending on what day you ask me) is no writing and limiting the number of ticks along the spine. Rounded corners don't bother me as much. I've got to have that eye-candy pop of pure satisfaction or I'm leaning to trade or sell (for proper value of course).
  7. Hahahaha! So are you really saying (this below)? Excited new owner on cloud 9 jumping for joy after purchasing this book shouldn't have any words with you?
  8. If somehow I was the owner, I'd be planning to sell it to attain a better looking copy pronto. The wrap on it is eye wrenching to behold.
  9. Indeed. No need for you to continue suffering. We are here to alleviate your mental distress.
  10. That may be a graded 9.6. but not in my book. Too many tick marks on the spine for me to ever consider purchasing it.
  11. Why Avengers Annual #10? First appearance of Rogue?
  12. And I want to be right there to greet them with open-arms (and an arm around their shoulder *hehe*) buying them at a deep discounted price.
  13. Is anyone worried we might be going through a frenzied bubble period right now?
  14. Your first two response paragraphs had me all bought in until your last statement: "For Bronze in general? Look to the covers" is pretty vague. So I'll ask: Which specific bronze covers do you perceive as undervalued?
  15. None of the movies are the exact replicates of the comics. That doesn't mean you can't use Hulk 181 as part of the foundation to make a good movie.
  16. So....SOOOOOO happy I bought a Hulk 9.2 white pages a few years ago. It was a childhood dream. I always had the money just never took the plunge when I had this itch only a CGC case could scratch! I paid fair price for it but had no idea at the time what a bargain it's now turned out to be. I agree with you. If you buy one it best to purchase a 9.2 or better.
  17. Agree! It would make for a fantastic Wolverine movie of course guest starring the Hulk. Instant money hit if it's done correctly and right now Marvel is hitting it's stride by releasing box revenue hit after hit! Right now Black Panther is KILLING IT! Best Marvel movie only under Avengers. Black Panther for pete's sake destroyed JLA! Who would have ever saw that coming?
  18. It matters to other folks too. If the economy isn't doing well people tend to hold on to their cash due to all of the uncertainty that comes along with it. Especially when it comes to job security. During a bear market typically a lot of folks have lost their jobs or don't know if they will have a job the next day. That worry alone is a big reason to hold onto cash to spend on necessities only. And if I recall correctly, during the last bear market we had, a lot of folks were selling their collections for cash. Cash needed to pay their bills.
  19. I expect it's just a matter of time. Now the real question is if they could cast it to live up to high expectations.
  20. Not surprising this book is doing so well with comics prices in general on the upswing in correlation with the economy and the stock market. In retrospect (it appears to me), the last time U.S. suffered through a bear market, Hulk 181 prices slowed down and prices were depressed for awhile. As long as the economy remains strong, what could possibly derail this book?
  21. Another key book IMHO that could be undervalued is Special Marvel Edition #15. This is the first appearance of Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu. I suspect sooner or later he will show-up on one of the Marvel Netflix shows. Possibly during Iron Fist second series? Of course this is all speculation. I can't believe what this book recently sold for on E-bay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Special-Marvel-Edition-15-CGC-9-8-White-Pages-First-Appearance-Shang-Chi/132421893801?hash=item1ed4f5bea9:g:uLMAAOSwGPxaJHCC
