Retailed at $249.95 I believe. Had it sitting on the front counter hooked up to a PS-1 for a loooong time. Helped sell alot of games though...

  3. Great idea for a thread, Bones (thumbs u .Quite a while ago, I had a 7 year stint with a company called FUNCOLAND; you now know it as Gamestop. I cant tell you how much cool chit I picked up in those 7 years. Rare games, lots of decks(consoles for the lamen :/ ), promos of all kinds, standees, toys, banners, you name it. One of these days, ill have to post pics. Until then, keep em comin boys. Lotsa great chatter in here!!

  4.

My god Chris, with the length of time and depth of your Valiant stock, I thought you would be the one of us that would have had multiple hits on this book in 9.8 :o

Personally, I have only ever submitted 1 copy for certification...came back 9.8 white.

I suppose I just got lucky.

What the hell am I, chopped liver...?

    :D

Yes. May I dine on you with some fava beans and a nice key-anti!

    Num num num

    :insane:

  5. Some random tidbits.

RMA is a genius for having the patience to hold on to that SS Harb 1 9.8 slab as I would have not.

As a reference point you have to remember the submission climate of Harb 1's 7-9 years ago. I knew a bunch of folks, myself included, who would sub multiple copies, pre-screen, etc. and would at best get a 9.6 or fail the pre-screen.

This was a comic which by no means was suffering from a lack of "try." I don't know what changed all of a sudden in the last few years as certainly there was pressing/cleaning capability during this entire period, but here we are and I personally would have bet serious coin that we would never see the 9.8 census that currently exists for Harb 1 in 9.8.

You could cite that market top transaction of $2500 as a catalyst but however all of these now 9.8 comics ended up showing up either from hoarded stashes, forgotten supply, or pressed 9.6/9.4 resubs, we will never be able to really quantify.

But given the lack of supply on ebay and other venues of Harb #1 CGC 9.8, regardless of current census, it only takes a few well capitalized speculators and predicting the top is fruitless. I would predict that we see some purchases in the $1K range if current lack of supply holds.

This phenom was similar to BA Star Wars #1 in CGC 9.8. For years and years you could buy one on any day for between $390-$480. Even after Disney/George Lucas buyout announced no uptick. When the first SW movie trailer hit, the price took off. Now these slabs are fetching $2K.

Anyone tracking RAI 0 CGC 9.8? There were recent sells in the $40 range only a few months ago. Not to mention this has always been available in big supply for years on the cheap. Just last week, one sold for in a bidding style auction $182.50 That is a huge multiple of 450%+

This is going to be a great time for Valiant; speculators and fans alike. Everyone enjoy the ride.

I have personally submitted something approaching a hundred copies of H1. I have never received a 9.8. I believe the 9.8 I have in my Master Set was purchased already graded.

  6. If anyone is confused... let me say this clearly.

NONE of the Deathmate books are hot again.

NONE of them are worth digging out of 50cent bins... probably not 25cent bins either.

    Unless they are Gold.

Or unless you care about Gen13, which means you want Deathmate Black.

But Gen13 isn't a Valiant property, so it's not part of the Valiant discussion.

When it comes to Valiant... Deathmate is still a 10cent book... every color.

    That is all. (thumbs u

    lol

    Beautiful!

  7. New to the site and thought I'd ask here.

I have a Star Wars Episode 1 comic that I got signed by Ray Park, but the signature is on a picture of Darth Maul near the back of the book.

Can I still have it graded as a Signature Series?

Unfortunately, no. It must be witnessed by someone authorized by CGC to receive the SS label.

  8.

Three newbies in the past four months is aggressive to say. I could have totally missed the boat, but I see only six 9.8 blue labels (am I the only who who doesnt care for green labels?)

Anyway there were 5 blue labels for as long as I could remember and this new sixth one was a recent addition. I would be shocked if a lot more 9.8s popped up. Mschmidt is COMPLETELY right when he said "there's been no indication that there's a large stack of ungraded 9.8s out there either"

This book was printed on very cheap, black paper that has shown to become very brittle, easily smudged, and handles VERY poorly when there are pressing attempts. With an original print run of around 3,000 on college paper stock back in 1991 and Jeff Smith defacing over 2000 of them himself to pass out.... we're looking at a tiny market pool to draw mint condition books.

    ???

Are you saying that Jeff signed 2,000 of the copies prior to selling them? Because, well, that isn't true.

Wow, I completely ignored that sentence.

BChin22, did you read this somewhere? (shrug)

Schmidtty, I find it hard to think it's NOT true when Smith remarked on that to me himself when I was in Boston Con with him. I asked him how many #1s he's signed in his day and he told me "Probably over 2000--they're always special when I sign them."

Sorry, there's just no chance 2/3s of the entire print run of this book has been signed. I'm sure that Jeff has signed a ton of them, but:

    a) I wouldn't quite trust his memory to remember how many copies of a certain book he's signed over a 20 year period

    b) He's probably referring to all the printings of #1 combined

I've been following the Bone #1 market for years now - if what you were saying is true, the majority of raw #1s coming up for sale would be signed. They're not.

    +1

  9. The last thing I care about is gift grades if I'm selling

moneyz. who do you grease over there that they actually send you finished product?

He promises everyone from CGC at the next show a Canadian bearhug for every book he gets back UNDER 9.8.

    Thats ALOOOOOOOOT of bearhugs.... :sumo:

  10. If Gambit had been on the cover, even in the background, it would be no question.

But he's definitely there, in the story, multiple panels.

UXM Annual 14 is one of the few that I will fight against. It was released by the distributors as an accident too early, and the story in Annual 14 even takes place after UXM 266.

I think the market got that one right, IOW. But, that's my opinion.

    (:

    -slym

Do you have any proof of the "released by the distributors as an accident"?

I'm not suggesting it's not true, but you are the only one I have heard this from, and I bought all of these books brand new (DOFP, included.)

    Ask Gary. He would know......

Fyi, Darkhawk 1, the FIRST APP of Darkhawk, recently sold for 4 bills on the Bay. Sweet.

    I LOVE FIRST APPS
