  1. Loved your detailed breakdown!! Now that you have given me your unbiased honest opinion, I will give you mine That CGC 9.9 was graded a LONG TIME AGO! Granted, it is also PERFECTLY wrapped, centered and cut like my copy (they almost look like twins in that regard), but my copy is much BRIGHTER than the 9.9! Look at the 9.9 copy in upper right hand corner on the top of the "K" in Hulk, it's significantly whiter in this small section compared to the rest of "The Incredible Hulk" title. You can also see the internal pages pretty clearly from the fading white color. My former CGC 9.8 W [Mile High 2 Pedigree] copy looked the same in terms of the color fading, which I really hated...especially when I would see lower graded copies look much brighter with colors truly popping out! Also, the CGC 9.9 has at least one visible spine tic, which can be seen to the left of the black arrow underneath the small Hulk image. Like you already pointed out, the bottom left corner of the CGC 9.9 has some light visible wear, whereas my copy has a superior corner. My take is that CGC graded this book during its infancy stages (before they were refined) and it would NOT grade out at 9.9 again if it were to be resubmitted! (Either that or my copy should be seriously reevaluated for a 9.9 MINT Grade!) However, because it has the CGC 9.9 MINT label, it would probably sell for over 1 million dollars if it were ever to surface! Moreover, at least I have a STRONG CASE to put a major premium $$$ PRICE TAG $$$ on my copy if I were ever to sell it!! Thanks for your contribution to this thread newshane! -Professor Pecora
  2. Thanks newshane! I appreciate it! Tell me what you think when you compare my copy with Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.9 MINT that sold on Comic Link for $150,000 way back in February of 2011. Thoughts? -Professor Pecora
  3. Thanks Rockblazer! I felt the same way along with many other professionals including Matt Nelson of CCS who actually examined the book up close before I had it reholdered. When I won the book at auction on March 29, 2017, it was labeled "CVC Exceptional" and was in the old CGC holder. I simply wanted it displayed in the updated and more beautiful CGC Holder without that annoying CVC sticker on it (as all can clearly witness how "exceptional" the book is with our own eyes! lol) However, without even asking Matt about a possible upgrade, he said that "he doesn't think it would have a shot at the 9.9 because of a few tiny spine tics...although it's a very beautiful looking book and has to look the same way as it did when it was printed!" I was like WOW! Just to think that my copy would even be "considered" for a possible CGC 9.9 MINT upgrade was crazy!! It's all good though! It's officially "The Professor Pecora Copy" and I would be 100% confident to put it up against any other 9.8 in the world! -Professor Pecora
  4. Thanks Brando! I'm like a sniper patiently posted in position for hours (in the CGC collecting world up to years) and as soon as I see the "perfect" opportunity (copy), I unload for the kill!! Once I saw this copy, I "knew" that was "the one!" Without any hesitation, I made the immediate decision to sell most of my CGC 9.8 Bronze Collection to acquire it!! I am so happy I now own another CGC 9.8 W copy since I sold my previous Mile High 2 CGC 9.8 W copy back in November of 2013! Plus, this copy actually looks better! It's much brighter with deeper color saturation and I think it's also more perfectly aligned / registered along the spine :-) Yes, I am with you that cover alignment has also been the bane of my collector's existence! However, when you're collecting Key Bronze books that may have several copies floating around the market in the desired grade, being OCD and particular actually makes the chase more challenging, fun and interesting! (Do you feel the same?) Truly, as you're very much aware, not all 9.8's are created equal; to land a "perfect" looking 9.8 W on a book such as IH #181 is an "incredible" feeling!! It's good to hear from you Brandon! THANK YOU for sharing my joy with me!! -Professor Pecora

  23. Wolverine #1 CGC (MINT) 9.9 W - (Best in the World!) - RARE Opportunity! (Up for Auction on Pedigree Comics!) Click the following link to PLACE YOUR BID ----> https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction/comic/058261/wolverine-1-cgc-99-w-professor-pecora-collection Wolverine #1 showcases the 1st Wolverine as Patch! After a successful four part miniseries published from September-December of 1982, it took a little over 6 years before Wolverine was honored with his ongoing solo title apart from the X-Men! Published in November of 1988, right around the time of Halloween, not only does the dark imagery perfectly display the raw savagery of Wolverine, but it was very fitting that the Wolverine logo was inked in orange for superior marketing. The cover art drawn by the late John Buscema is a certified classic! A victorious Wolverine is featured standing on a pile of dead bodies with his shirt torn off his muscular physique and his pants slashed open, while his razor sharp claws are being ejected from his forearms with a full moon lighting up the midnight sky! In addition, the full-length Wolverine back cover pin-up drawn by the legendary John Byrne is awesome! Officially graded in June of 2016, my copy became the “13th” CGC Universal 9.9 in existence! This is of MAJOR SIGNIFICANCE because prior to my copy being added to the CGC Census, THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANOTHER WOLVERINE #1 CGC UNIVERSAL 9.9 GRADED IN OVER 5 YEARS!!! So just how rare is this book? Well according to the CGC Census Report as of April 4, 2017, there are a whopping total of 7,243 copies graded to date! Out of those 7,243 copies, only 13 were blessed with the Universal 9.9 grade (with only 1 copy graded higher), which means that this copy represents 1/10 of 1% or 0.001% (one-thousandth percent) of the total population! Now that’s RARE! The next question one might ask is…“how much is it worth?” To put this in perspective, on June 10, 2016, the single highest graded Wolverine #1 CGC Gem Mint 10.0 sold for an astonishing $17,644 on Comic Connect! With over 7,240 copies already professionally graded and being a dark cover in which the smallest of defects are detectable, it’s highly unlikely that another 10.0 copy will emerge, let alone another 9.9 anytime soon! Therefore, this book will definitely command a pretty penny! As a matter of fact, this CGC 9.9 white-paged specimen may very well be the finest known 9.9 copy in existence! It is PERFECTLY wrapped, cut and centered with perfectly inserted staples and a drum-tight spine! The color saturation is deep and vivid and looks like it was printed yesterday! Not even the single 10.0 copy is perfectly cut and wrapped like this pristine beauty! Furthermore, if you compare this copy to other CGC 9.9 examples, you will see that it is more perfectly wrapped and centered and displays superior aesthetic qualities! This specific copy of Wolverine #1 CGC 9.9 W; a world class example of one of the most significant issues to emerge from the Copper Age of Comics will shine brightly in any CGC collection of the most discerning collectors! The Pedigree Comics' April Grand Auction Commenced on Monday, April 3, 2017 and Comic Book lots will begin closing on the eve of Wednesday, April 12, 2017. To bid on this Pristine GEM that presents better than any other Wolverine #1 in the Universe click on the following link -----> https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction/comic/058261/wolverine-1-cgc-99-w-professor-pecora-collection Happy Collecting and Good Luck!! -Professor Pecora
  24. X-Men #94 CGC 9.6 W - World's Most PERFECTLY Wrapped, Cut & Centered Copy! (Up for auction on Pedigree!) X-Men #94 will always remain one of the scarcest Marvel Bronze Age Grails in super high-grade condition, due to the unforgiving dark green and partial black ink that surrounds about 75% of the cover and exposes the slightest of defects! For example, according to the CGC Census Report as of March 28, 2017, out of a staggering total of 5,078 copies graded, there are only twenty-eight (28) copies graded as a Universal 9.8 and three (3) copies graded as a Signature Series 9.8! That means that an X-Men #94 in CGC 9.8 represents a rarity factor of ½ of 1% of the total population! With these statistics in mind and considering the vast amount of collectors who would love to own a top-graded example, it’s no wonder why CGC 9.8 copies have been selling upwards for around 15K! This particular copy is unbelievably PERFECTLY CUT, WRAPPED & CENTERED and sports unblemished SNOW WHITE PAGES! The ink reflectively is extremely bright with intense color gloss and looks like it came right off the printing press! It also has a solid spine, perfectly inserted staples and with the exception of a minute corner blunt on the top left-hand corner of the front cover…it contains RAZOR SHARP EDGES! With that said, the next viable option for most serious collectors or investors would be to acquire a CGC 9.6. However, there are only a total of seventy-five (75) copies (including my copy) graded as a Universal 9.6 and eight (8) copies graded as a Signature Series 9.6! Keeping in mind the total number of CGC graded copies is currently at 5,078, the rarity factor for X-Men #94 in CGC 9.6 is only 1.6% of the total population! To put this in perspective, X-Men #94 in CGC 9.6 is rarer than Giant-Size X-Men #1 in CGC 9.8 by a factor of 0.5%! Without a doubt, this immaculate CGC 9.6 copy looks better than just about any CGC “9.8” that has previously hit the market, as most are either off-centered or wrapped crookedly with parts of the back cover appearing from the front. Of particular note, pay close attention to Nightcrawler’s tail and the tip of the right missile on the plane; you will notice on this pristine copy that it is completely visible on the cover! Now take a close look at any other X-Men #94 CGC 9.6 or 9.8 copy (or in any grade), and you will witness this part of the cover art obstructed off the page like 99% of the time! Therefore, this copy truly stands in a class of its own and earns the title of being the “World’s Most Perfectly Wrapped, Cut and Centered X-Men #94” known to exist! In addition, you rarely see copies that contain PERFECT WHITE PAGE QUALITY for some reason on X-Men #94s. For any serious collectors or investors looking to acquire an EXCEPTIONAL HIGH-GRADE COPY of X-MEN #94 with PERFECT STRUCTURE & WHITE PAGE QUALITY...THIS IS THE COPY FOR YOU!!! Feel free to click on the following link to place your bids ----> https://www.pedigreecomics.com/auction/comic/058302/x-men-94-cgc-96-w-professor-pecora-collection The Pedigree Comics April Grand Auction will commence tonight (4/3/2017) at 8:00 pm EST, and lots will begin closing on the eve of Wednesday, April 12th. I am wondering who will be the new proud owner of this world class copy of X-Men #94 CGC 9.6 W!! It's an excellent alternative to purchasing a CGC 9.8 for like 12-16K + this copy is practically guaranteed to present way better than almost any other CGC 9.8!! Happy Collecting! -Professor Pecora
  25. What up Matt! Yeah man, that's not a bad idea at all! Frank's signature is definitely more unique and nowhere near as saturated as Stan Lee's signature is, although we all love the icon who started the Marvel Universe! I would have to get me another 9.8 WP copy though that presents similar to my current one. I think there is one on eBay that looks great, but as you already know, I have "other books" I am working on paying off! () -Professor Pecora
