  1. Originator of so many great Batman stories. This is truly a loss.
  2. The med clinic is the worst for me. They could have kept them open and automatically tested everyone through the door. The health system is not overrun here.
  3. Very little open. The fact that clinics, dentists, and optometrists are closed irks me the most.
  4. I can look at Perez's art all day. Unique, realistic, monumental detail, and very pleasing to the eye. I like Byrne too, but I'd vote Perez.
  5. Supes I will always give a shout out to the first and one of the best comic book hero films to hit the big screen. A memory to treasure for my whole life. I have nothing against Thor.
  6. Quite a few places accept bitcoin as currency. You can buy gold for it for instance. It's acceptance as a currency depends on its' popularity as any other currency. In Canada, it is considered equity and taxable under capital gains. If you buy or sell it there is no issue. If you make money or make a purchase then the tax man becomes interested. When I transferred for my deposit it was roughly 1.5% fee. There will also be a fee if I transfer out. I think if you convert currency your are looking at least at that kind of percentage fee. Bitcoin is volatile, so it is not for the faint of heart. If you are interested to see how much you would have made with Bitcoin if you had invested at a particular point in time there is this link. https://www.cryptoground.com/bitcoin-profit-calculator
  7. To be clear, the pandemic was the catalyst for bursting the economic bubble, not the cause.
  8. I don't think they are equivalent. My wife is not interested too much in the bitcoin I have but when she sees the amount of comics I have stored... then she gives me that look
  9. I personally would like a new Amazing Spider-Man series starting at 121 with an alternate storyline where Gwen survives.
  10. Money-wise. Probably a few things. Sentimentally, I got a nice colour Christopher Reeve 8x10 autograph.
  11. I think this surmises Bitcoin very well. It also explains how the stock market is propped up. Obviously infinite printing can not go on forever. A couple of additional notes about bitcoin. The amount of bitcoin added periodically is finite and so it can be deemed a hard equity. If a group of countries actually try to band against it they will likely drive up the price even more. I recently figured it out and put in a deposit.
  12. super strength/invulnerability
  13. Sounds like for the upcoming zombie apocalypse half of us will be fighting the zombies, and the other half will be collecting them.
  14. and it's not a good idea to finance your purchases if you can help it.
  15. To be honest, I have cash and I like nice things, but I don't feel comfortable buying comics just now. So, I'm really surprised at how well overall sales are doing. I think it's good that the economy is resilient but I keep thinking there is a reckoning that's going to happen sometime in the near future.
  16. Perhaps this means that collectors for high grade or sought after collector books are generally well funded and are unaffected by the downturn. The other options are unscrupulous auction houses, or the cash crunch has still not taken effect.
  17. I know some of you have or had broadcast comic videos on your channels. What equipment do you use? - camera - micropohone - audio interface - editing software
  18. People lose their minds on a 9.8. If a book they need in their collection has that number they lose their head. So I can see people slabbing thinking there is a chance to get that number and make a premium on a book.
  19. Happy Mothers Day everyone. My family couldn’t care less about my comic collection.
  20. So you hit one of the caveats. Your example is with cards. Another type of autograph collectible with its own peculiarities. Modern signatures are often signed poorly also, with the only way to verify is to trust the seller who is known to have a good track record. Those signatures are usually verified in person. The Ditko sig is clear as day. A good auction house that verifies these items should know if it is genuine. JSA/PSA certification was never a motivator for me to buy autographs.
  21. The letter of authenticity is not important at all. The integrity of the dealer is more important. JSA is a recognized source for authenticity for signed items but they also make mistakes, as does CGC. So the best way to buy signed collectibles that you did not witness is to buy from dealers with a good reputation. You might be able to ask a recognized dealer who is an expert in a particular autograph for their opinion on a particular item. You can also verify the signature against other known pieces yourself to see how close they are. There are a lot of other caveats but basically this is how I would start.
  22. He literally must be legendary.
  23. I'm embarrassed I slabbed a bunch a books early on when I didn't have a clue how to grade when I first tried out CGC. There are always good and bad purchases. I usually stick to buyers or methods I trust and I've educated myself since my first submission.
