  1. 3rd party grading is generally a strict grading standard. I can see how it would have clashed greatly with the grading standards before their existence.
  2. Is there a book out there that you'd consider dropping a pile of money outside your budget if it ever came around? ASM 1 and IH 181 would intrigue me if it came around at the right time and grade. Of course it would depend on my finances around that time but I might drain my funds if the opportunity presented itself.
  3. You made profit. That's what you focus on. I think you are not alone including myself. I sold stuff at a bargain because of my own stupidity because of my grading inexperience. I learnt from it. Also, I never expect feedback anymore. Probably if they don't, it's better that way.
  4. You must have made sufficient profit off of it to have sold it in the first place, so why be upset? There are tons of things that one could do better in their life everyday. You have to roll with it.
  5. My first reaction to the news was the usual feelings about print media dying. Afterwards, it occurred to me that satire in our age is under attack. Whether it is political cartoons, political correctness, lawsuits, etc..., it seems there could be another reason for the magazine's downfall.
  6. In the comic world I find this a difficult assessment. A signed autograph in general increases with price depending on the quality of the photo/print, it's condition, and demand vs scarcity. The best way to assess is to find similar looking items and see what they sell for to be in the general ballpark. I don't think there is a formula.
  7. I'm not a dealer so I don't understand all the ramifications regarding buying and selling inventory, but anything that levels the playing field for everyone to me sounds like a good thing.
  8. It should be Jigsaw IMO. Kingpin seems to be everyone's villain and a little overdone for me.
  9. For me Green Goblin in terms of viciousness, but I think for the number of appearances and the longest rivalry it was probably Doc Ock.
  10. wish I do something like that.
  11. Watch the last issue spike to 150,000 copies.
  12. I don't know about a line-up but back in the 90s the following titles had a lot of buzz to get a copy: 1) Legends of the Dark Knight 2) New Spider-Man title art/story by McFarlane 3) After my time, but the Death of Superman had a lot of hype
  13. That store doesn't ring a bell. I remember Grey L(R)egion, Silver Snail, and another store that escapes my memory. SS was the worse of the three. They had the quantity but not the quality. Rent back in the day was around $4k for a tiny store. I don't know how shops are sticking it there without a gov backing or a reduced lease.
  14. I remember the day when the 3 greatest stores were on Queen but they all had to close shop there. Good times. I think LCSs have a chance now with retail being so bad but the price for a book is so costly and you get what you want online without the trek to the store. I wish my kids could experience the fun but they have a greater time at cons.
  15. Is Silver Snail still on Queen St? If so, they would be one of the last to remain in such a high rent area.
  16. There is a cost to getting comics graded. If you are making good money on raw books without grading them then there is no need. There are likely other reasons but I think this is an obvious one.
