I told myself, I told myself, I told myself... that I'm not going to get into higher grade pre-hero Marvels.
And then this comes along yesterday; it's my first pre-hero Marvel slab:
Your in trouble now, great pick-up (thumbs u

Could of done with some beach today, your pic is about as close as I'll get

been a lovely day at beach, this is view of Margate from our pad
Great view

Oh wow, I see you won it for 2250. You lucky SOB great pickup
Thanks for that bit of history it's really appriciated. Like I said being new to the period and unsure of the cost of this book without any GPA or other sales history I was worried I'd seriously let my heart rule over my head and overpaid. I thought it was worth it though. Good to hear that Iv got a great book at a fair price.

My 1st and only pre-hero marvel. It could be love
A mark wilson buy, no? was he negotiable on pricing? I remember seeing it listed for 4k (?)
Big congrats
This was a clink pick up for me. Iv never bought a pre-hero marvel before, but this has long been one of my favourite covers of any marvel comic book. I know it was a big step to take when moving into a new period of marvel books than Iv collected before but I couldn't resist. Unfortunately due to this I'm not sure of the books history before my purchase. Would certainly be interested to find out

In terms of shipping from the US I like others have had books arrive anything from 1 week up and over 1 month. Completely depends on the service they use and what part of the US they are posting from. The US is obviously a big country and all the different states offer different costs and services which effect delivery time.
The non reply to PM's is more the worry but could be a genuine reason for that. Does he have a feedback thread you can check out for previous sales?
Hopefully the book will be with you by the end of the week. If they don't have tracking number the likely hood they used USPS rather than FedEx or ups, that service is cheaper but slow and offers no tracking just a customs receipt.

I really dont see the point in this thread

Boyd was good enough to get in touch regards one of my comics I want to buy ads. Hooked me up with very nice TTA #44 for my collection and can' t thank him enough.
Hope to deal with Boyd in the future
Best wishes

I'm almost ashamed to post pics with the INSANE, AMAZING comic rooms you guys have. This my den which over the last 4-5 years, my wife has literally filled to the roof with hers and the kids .
Hard to believe, but it took me about 30 hours over the last month and 2 bulk pickups to even clear it enough that now you can walk around and theres actually spare room. A few more weeks a one more bulk garbage day and i'll actually be able to hang the stuff that needs hanging on the wall!
Problem is, i have a BUNCH of framed football jersey and other Cowboys/Syracuse plaques, pictures etc to hang so not sure what to do with them. I might find another part of the house to put them up so this can FINALLY be a true "comic room"
Like i said, its LAME AS HELL compared to what you guys have, , but since ive put so many hours into cleaning it up, heres the pics of what ive got so far
Shelves look to be filled with awesome stuff to me, love all those slabs so not lame at all. In fact I have the same Bowen Thanos and yellow jacket statue. Keep it going I say. Also keep the room comics focused and put the jerseys in the bedroom (thumbs u

The Sgt. Fury #1 is the exact type of book I'd look for on a Marvel key - nicely presenting mid-grade copy with great pages. Love it.
I'm on the hunt for a white paged Avengers #2 after passing on a copy last month; that's a nice looker, as well.
Love that SgtFury1 and definitely one of the toughest keys to find. I just picked up a copy for my vault!! Note there is a 9.0 in this month's CLink auction
I do love my Sgt Fury #1. Thats a great 7.0 with nice white pages. Think I'll have to stick with my copy for now as don't think the 9.0 will go cheaply. Be interesting to watch the auction though

Once again thanks for the positive feedback on the Avengers #2 guys.
Jason, the back cover isn't as good as the front but there's still only a few small defects rather than anything major. There's a slight stain, water mark about 3/4 of the way up the back cover edge which can only be seen on close inspection and measures about 1cm by 1.5 cm. you can only just see the outline of this stain it's not solid. Then in the top spine edge corner there's some slight flecking of ink. To be honest I can't tell if someone's tapped the end of pen lightly on the back or wether its an original printing ink defect. These few specks once again only occur in an area measuring 1cm by 1cm. Maybe these things were enough to bring the grade down or there is something more on the the interior. But I'm still obviously more than happy with the overall presentation of the book for a 7.5, I also paid nearly a couple of hundred bucks less than the last GPA sale of a 7.5 so got a great deal. Even though the last may sale of the book is quite high.

Thanks Tortoise, I really haven't been collecting higher grade cgc books for long so it's great to get good feedback about my purchases from experienced board members (thumbs u

It was a good day for me today - finally got one of my holy grails I've wanted (Hulk 181) and a nice graded Avengers!
Great looking hulk #181 Pauly and best of all nice white pages, bet your very happy

Thanks sacentaur, I'm really happy with the Sgt Fury #1, i think it's presents really nicely for the grade and it doesn't lose any of that appeal when in hand. In fact even though it's the lower grade book and Avengers is my main collecting focus im actually much happier with the Fury as an overal buy. Not that there's anything wrong with the Avengers #2 though, I was originally going for white pages but happened to pick this up with a bit less hit to the wallet. It replaces a good reading copy, so quite an upgrade for me

I haven't posted in this thread before but I'm putting together an Avengers run 1-200 if possible.
Well possible but will take time. Some of you may know me already and i'v bought from some of you (Jason). Well anyway i'v already posted pics of these in another thread but thought I'd join in with the official Avengers thread. 2 books arrived yesterday
Avengers #2. This replaces a good reading copy so quite an upgrade
Avengers #88. Not great centring I know, but I didn't pay too highly and I'm happy with it. I know this isn't SA but as i was posting the #2 and it's an Avengers collecting thread I'd thought I'd be ok. I'll remove it if it isn't.
Like i said i'v got more books I haven't posted but won't bog the thread down and just post future additions

Thanks guys much appricatiated. Good weeks like this though lead to quiet weeks while funds are replenished!

Had these arrive yesterday morning
Sgt fury #1 lower grade for my key fury appearances collection (fury fan)
Avengers #2 for my Avengers 1-200 collection
Avengers #88 for my Avengers 1-200 collection
Had a good week this week (thumbs u

Had a couple of SA books arrive yesterday morning
1st was a lower grade Sgt Fury #1, not my main collecting focus so didn't go crazy for a higher grade book. I'm a fury fan though and i'v now completed my little collection of main fury appearances.

Also added an Avengers #2 to my main collection focus my Avengers 1-200 run. Not a bad copy.

In terms of the spiddy game I thinks it's got the prob of being a weak movie tie in. Batman Arkham city was a stand alone game, obviously well executed and did extremely well. I thought in terms of spiddy games the more recently released non movie ties had had better reviews. Let's hope I'm wrong and the game turns out ok

In terms of the press I'm abit divided as I suppose I see it as restoration of the book, which means its no longer in its original untouched condition. I have to admit that as I know very little about the pressing process I could be completely wrong about what the process intails. Why would you want the book pressed for higher grade unless your planning to sell. Otherwise if it's for your collection to hold onto I would keep it as good old label untouched goodness and enjoy the great looking book it is. Just my opinion but I'm open to counter opinions on the whole pressing issue. A debate for elsewhere though I'm sure.

Thanks sacentaur I'm loving it in hand and really happy with the feedback i'v got from the boards. I love SA Keys
