  1. It wasn't my book Scott, I'd had a notification from mycomicshop as its on my wants list. I was checking in as a buyer so it's me that missed out. Those lower grade hulk 1's go quick at the moment. So I'm still looking but will have to wait as just got a TTA #27 so need to replenish funds!

  2. if GPA wants the correct figure, its $2025 :sumo:

It went quick, I had usual delayed email from mycomicshop this morning. I had a quick look then checked back about an hour later to find it sold. Think it'll be best to wait for prices to calm down if they ever do

  3. Hi Junkdrawer,

I picked up the book from a fellow boardie Flaming_Telepath AKA Nick from comicanadirect. He's a fellow UK boardie and an all round good guy and was nice enough to sort me out with this great book. I'm very happy as its such a hard book to get, certainly a keeper for me (thumbs u

  4. I had this arrive in the morning post so thought I'd join the club

Part of putting together an Avengers original 1st team member appearances collection to go with the Avengers 1-200 run I'm also working on! Long way too go!

  5. I was so excited when Neal Adams was announced as a guest for C2E2. I, like so many others, am a huge fan of his work. I've been going to shows for autographs and such pretty much since I started collecting comics but in all that time (roughly 27 years) I never had the opportunity to meet Neal Adams in person. The week before the show I joined the ranks of the unemployed which was a real downer because I wanted so badly to get a sketch cover from him. I resigned myself to settling for having him sign one or two books for me and that would be good enough. My fiancee, who is the best (you'll see why) made the decision that no matter what, job or no job, I was going to have my Adams sketch cover. She was determined that she was not going to let the experience be a disappointment for me. It ended up with these as the result.

I very much wanted Ra's Al Ghul because he's one of my favorite characters and you don't see Adams pieces with him very often.

I've always had a soft spot for Krypto and I don't think I've seen another blank that anyone has had done with him.

Did I mention my fiancee is the best?

Very nice She is a keeper for sure (thumbs u

Wow very nice.Neal Adams charges alot for sketches,it must have cost you a pretty penny.

What a great result to what started as some bad news. Its great to have another half who's so supportive of something that means so much to you. Hope your unemployment is sorted out soon! (thumbs u

  6. Interesting point.

Davis was up against ageing opponents when he was at his prime, but I think Henry still would have be successful as he was the original master of the modern game.

    Thierry Henry played snooker???

Thierry Henry ? I thought he meant Henry Cooper, then I realised how hard it is to hold the cue with those gloves. :baiting:

I was thinking more King Henry playing between having his wifes beheaded :insane:

Typing is not my strong point.

King Henry was the don of Medevil snooker, his nickname was 8 ball

  7. Yep, Nick's grading is as good as it gets. I noticed at the London Con that he still uses the old Stateside/Comicana labels which give detailed descriptions of the book and point out specific faults with the book.

When you buy from him, you know exactly what you are getting and that the grading will be spot on or even somewhat generous.

+1 you won't go wrong buying from nick, he's a nice guy as well

..... and he's good company to go drinking with. :applause:

Garry here is also someone you can't go wrong buying your books from and im really excited about his new site. Iv bought from Garry and couldn't be anything but happy, he's also a great guy and most welcoming of boardies! Certainly made my 1st weeks on the boards top notch (thumbs u

  9. In the latest Previews they are selling the Gerber Photo Journals, A-K, L-Z.

I'm getting the A-K which will cover the Bats & Tecs.

They're also doing a Marvel dedicated one for those interested in seeing photos of the finest comics available at the time :)

I'll have to check out the Marvel one I think (thumbs u

I'm sure it will have me :frustrated:

  10. I'v supported United since I was 10, due to family influence not choice. I live in the midlands and believe me it would be easier travelling to watch a local team but I was brought up to follow United and have been a season ticket holder for years.

Always makes me laugh that United get stick for plastic fans when I don't think it's any different for any of the big clubs. I don't know any other united fans in my friends group thier all Liverpool, further away than United!

And aren't thier a lot footballers out there who would be leading working class lives if they hadn't been given a gift of being good at football and developed that gift?

  11. Is this the best ever goal in Premier League history? hm

    Winning Goal

I was there for that goal, actually seated behind the goal at that end (east stand lower). Still sends tingles down my spine when I see it, it was an awesome goal and the circumstances made it one of the best iv seen at OT

  12. Cheers guys, been reading this a long time thought I may as well jump in.

Just started reaquainting myself with comics, so if anyone has any suggestions on what to read that's cool would always be appreciated.

    Hi Spidersense,

What sort of stuff you into? SA, BA, modern books? Costumed hero? Indie Books? There's a lot going on out there depending what your tastes are. I'm a bit of a Marvelite so can point you in the right direction there, I also enjoy indie and Batman. DC have recently relaunched all their titles so if your into DC books you've got a lot of choice for jumping on with the new books.

Hope you enjoy the boards, everyone here has plenty of knowledge to utilise. Are you planning on collecting slabbed or raw books? Or both?

    Jamie

    Thanks for the hospitality.

When I used to collect I was much more into Marvel than DC however I did read Batman. Faves back in the day were TAS, Mcfarlane's Spiderman, Spawn, West Coast Avengers, Hawkeye and sadly GI Joe. Now reading more on the Image side with TWD, Chew collection growing slowly, just taken a punt on Saga, Manhattan Projects, Mind The Gap and have started reading AvX and working my way back from there.

Would like to get stuff graded, but not really sure how economically viable it is to submit items from the UK. Might be better to buy already graded books on the ones I really want.

I've been picking up most things off eBay, but have some orders in with Disposable Heroes, Forbidden Planet, Comic Zone amongst others.

I'm in it for the pleasure of reading, but if along the way a book comes up that a bit of speculation can be done on I'm all for it :)

Well if your looking for slabbed or raw books then check out the sales thread. You may find that you have to build a bit kudos up when your new but that comes with following the rules and completing easy and pleasant transactions. Also if your looking for a great site to pick up books in the uk then check out comiccanadirect, it's a board members site who's called flaming telepath and you won't find a more highly thought of seller. Just check out my silimiar enquiries on this thread a few weeks ago.

  14. Hey,

Any UK Boardies received any updates on the CGC SS items from the London con re: timings or has anyone got stuff back?

    Cheers,

I emailed CGC last week and they said for economy tier books from the DWC submissions it would be another month minimum. Most likely longer
