  1. Am I the only one who thinks Stan's parkingson's scribble all-over-the-cover devalue the book? I can't believe people pay that crazy premium... Aside from this question, unless Stan has been diagnosed with Parkinsons' disease this is an unhappy comment. If he has, it is even more unhappy.
  2. If not in direct sunlight (and for a long time, I guess) Mylar should protect from this problem – it‘s one of the technical specifications of the plastic, IIRC.
  3. Man, there are too many awesome things going on… slow down a little, please! These 1920s Weird Tales…
  4. The new Witchboy series by Ann Nocenti may have raised some interest in the character… good to know as it’s a classic.
  5. You make me laugh since "patience" would be the last term I would happen to use with myself now… This movie-hype driven market, which brough me back to Marvel SA/BA/CA collecting, has made me feverish to complete as much as possible the collection, and grab the issues from other titles which I care most about… but I should say I allowed myself to become feverish, and that is not good. Less than three years ago I had just a few issues under #30, the lowest ones were #3, #8 and #11 – now I am missing just a few…
  6. I settled for the #26 and #28 just to have them… They are overpriced, IMO, and thought I might pick up them at a later date in slightly better condition. The #9 however is a nice VG-, paid fair market price but was the only one missing aside #1 and #4 from the first 10, so…
  7. Sue was clearly smoking the cigar… the Thing had already stopped by then.
  8. Thanks. I would love to find a NM-range copy with the same well centering… Luckily this issue is not bound to become a "key"…
  9. I just love this cover and this issue… and realized I did not have it!
  10. Some other issues crossed out from the checklist… OK, some are lowgrade but I really have no money for higher grade ones…
  11. Some of these illustrations are definitely a bit disturbing… The page quality of your 1930s pulps inversely looks dreamy… (thumbs u
  12. I agree with this. However, I will continue to express my disdain for the hard core pimps, pump and dumpers, and barkers I agree with both. I generally just move along, but Sean has a point.
  13. Just out of curiosity, that’s the cover image they used for the wedding of Sue and Reed when they published the story for the first time. Still not the original Annual cover, but rather (I think) a promotional image which was later used in full for a poster as well.
  14. Or, we can let people say what they want in their sales threads, and let everyone else judge for themselves on whatever terms they want. Sure... And watch this place turn to ebay 2.0 More rules won't help this situation. If people can say "it's a 9.0" but they can't say "it might press into a 9.6," then they might just say "it's a 9.6." Then, just like if they had said the first line, people will look at the ad, the seller, & the comic and decide for themselves. Caveat emptor! (thumbs u -slym I just think Paulo was suggesting that it might be annoying to read people write "could press to" when pressing is not even something you would take into consideration. A book should be sold for what it is, no matter what. And I do not adhere to a misunderstood concept of freedom for which everyone should be allowed to do "whatever he wants", as what we want is obviously related also to the respect we have for others (and for things at large).
  15. I just found I also have this one, lowest graded so far because of some foxing/wear, but found it for cheap and had to buy it – it will do for now…
  16. Thanks everyone! Right on, I noticed the blonde Fury but I was just trying to figure if that was supposed to be Kang… Also, which bride uses a yellow wedding dress on her wedding day? Susan in yellow! The fun thing is that they usually colored in an accurate way… only around the end, when the publisher went bankrupt and had no money, they really went crazy with coloring (and not only coloring!) as they probably hired the first guy available to do the job – but at this time they were pretty accurate. I can’t explain the funky cover coloring on some single issues in this range.
  17. Poor kid – she is already grasping the extent of the disaster…
  18. That's actually a great picture ! Indeed. And she actually shows great taste, as she is firmly holding the Four Favorites #12…
  19. I just realized you were a regular contributor to the Comic Book Marketplace! I bought the first issues when they came out, and immediately felt how good the publication was but never get around to read them. I still have them all in my "comics essays" box and I will eventually dig them out at some point.
