  1. I really like some of the Christmas covers. I'll post some later ones, but here's the first:
  2. Don't forget Harry Lucey. As far as I'm concerned Lucey and Schwartz are the big 2 silver age Archie artists. I like Decarlo, too, but I just don't think he was quite in their class as an Archie artist. Actually, I think Decarlo's best work was in '50s Marvels (Millie the Model, etc.)
  3. Nice books. It looks (from the front cover anyway) that CGC was pretty hard on the 29.
  4. That's a nice copy of Archie #2 Shawn! I've only ever seen one better and unfortunately, it's not my copy I really love the covers to Archie 11 and 13. Thanks for posting them! The Pep 47 is great too. Let's face it, I like them all
  5. Here's a classic image of Betty and Veronica:
  6. Here's another of my favorite covers: I'm thinking Betty and Veronica are probably the best choices, but then again, I'm not an alien!
  7. That's a great SA Jughead cover, Silver! I Love Samm Schwartz! He did such great work with Jughead!
  8. Really nice books Lucy! I'm going to have to go scan some more just to keep up! Steve.
  9. Awesome books Lucy! Here's another of my favorites:
  10. Here's my favorite Betty and Veronica Cover:
  11. I have a couple of lower grade copies of which I will post the nicer. Unless someone has a better one they would like to post?
  12. Jughead's always been my favorite Archie character. Well, him and Cricket O'Dell, but no one's ever heard of her.
  13. OK, now that I've figured out (more or less) how to post pictures to the boards, I thought it would be nice to have an Archie cover forum listing. I will start it off with two Archie firsts: Pep 36 (the first Archie cover) and Archie #1. Most of my favorite Archie covers are from the Silver Age however, so there will be some of those showing up too. I would really be interested in seeing what other collectors feel are their favorite covers so please post some pictures for us all to admire. Thanks! Steve.
  14. Ok, I think I've finally figured out how to get decent sized pictures on the boards. Here goes:
  15. That's just an awesome Shadow cover by the way!! "The Brain of Nippon" Gotta love it!
  16. I think in the case of some publishers (Nedor springs to mind) the covers were by far the best part. But many companies had some excellent interior work as well. I really like a lot of the work done in MLJ titles such as Pep and Hangman. There's some fabulous art by Bob Fuje and Harry Lucey (and others). If you haven't visited Shield's MLJ website, you should--lots of excellent stuff to download/peruse. And the early Archie stories behind those WWII Pep covers...
