  1. Patsy Walker #85 - 2.5 - $60 For me, this is the best Al Hartley Patsy Walker cover, and it's not close. A lot of his covers, Patsy looks like a crazed lunatic. But here he manages to rein things in and bring back some of that early 50's Hartley magic. Great colors on this. The cover has some toastiness, so the top edge has some issues front and back - a tear on fc through the P, and some slight brittleness. I think the corner got wet at some point, so there's a slight stain and waviness. Looks fantastic though. I don't mind keeping this one, hence the price. SOLD!
  2. Love Letters #17 - 1.8 - $12 Jane Russell photo cover!! This has multiple tears at the spine that go through the whole book. Oops! I guess this is the handywork of a failed strongman who was working his way up to phone books.
  3. First Love (UK) #4 - 5.0 - $22 Here's a weird one. This is a British series reprinting Harvey romance books. It's a squarebound 68 pager with a sweet date stamp. Though it borrows the title from the U.S. "First Love" series, the contents are different. Interior is black and white. SOLD!
  4. Romantic Love #2 - 5.0 - $15 Nice colors, gloss, again with the toastiness keeping it back. Another "top quality" unauthorized reprint title. SOLD!
  5. Realistic Romances #9 - 4.0 - $22 L.B. Cole!! I'm not sure why these aren't more desired, maybe supply? This is a 1958 reprint of a cover that originally appeared in 1953. The book has great color and a lot of gloss, and the story involves a romance with a mobster or something who gets shot, so there's a lot going on. There's also some tanning on the covers, with a couple small chips out of the edges, which accounts for the grade. SOLD!
  6. Brides Romances #3 - 3.0 - $22 For once, nothing in particular to note here. Other than, I guess, though there's a bit of tanning on the covers, the interior page quality is really nice.
  7. Millie the Model #64 - 3.5 - $45 Great colors, some gloss, great DeCarlo art. This one has a dust shadow on bottom edge. The right edge also got wet at some point - don't worry, it's dry now! - so it's a little wavy. SOLD
  8. Girls in Love #57 - 2.5 - $45 This is what they call an "ebay 5.0." And by they, I mean the ebay seller who sold this to me. What wasn't mentioned in that listing is the sad fact that there are two small holes punched completely through the book (arm and pants pocket of the guy on fc). There are also two other small holes that go partway through the book. I initially suspected a BB-gun and target practice, but one of the holes is only on some interior pages, so I have to reluctantly conclude this was the work of a bored kid wielding either a pencil or possibly a screwdriver. On the other hand, it presents really well despite this, and it's a great, late Matt Baker cover. Not one of those late covers where some inker messed things, up, one where's it's obviously Matt Baker. I also like to think that this is Clark Kent and Lana Lang in Smallville. Sure, he calls her Nancy, but otherwise... you all see it, right? Just trying to cut my losses. SOLD!
  9. Okay, round two. I'm having some computer issues, so I may not get through everything tonight, but we'll see. First, for anyone interested in those Journey Into Mystery books, if you buy both you can get the pair for $350! And if you're on the fence, I should tell you that there has been a Thor movie announced, so get these before the movie speculation drives prices crazy!! And now, on to the new stuff.
  10. Okay, I have run out of steam, so I will try to finish up tomorrow night. Still to come: L.B. Cole, All-American Men of War #89 with the Lichtenstein swipes, Matt Baker, more romance, and a weird anti-communism/pro-democracy propaaganda giveaway from the 50's that even the people on the boards here didn't seem to know a lot about. And so much more. Plus! You can still get a chance to spark up a bromance with me, free with any purchase! No promises it will take off, but you never know. Besties?!
  11. My Own Romance #13 - 2.5 - $25 52 page pages from Timely Comics! This one has some small kinks in it where it was bent at some point. Those could come out. The main issue is the top of the front cover got whammied with something at some point, so it's quite tan. Back cover has some broad tanning as well. FC has one chip out, small tear, and the inside of top fc has some foxing. The rest of the book is solid though.
  12. Revealing Romances #6 - 1.5 - $15 Cover is detached, staples are rusty, book is dirty. Someone did not care for this the way it deserved! But it does have that cool Ace painted cover!
  13. My Own Romance #50 - 3.5 - $39 Great gloss and color on cover. There's a tear up by the CCA stamp Page quality is actually really nice, except a few pages the bottom corner got some sun and a couple little pieces came off of a few - doesn't affect art. Not really sure how it happened since otherwise the PQ is really nice. Jay Scott Pike art throughout.
  14. Love Romances #27 - 2.0 - $70 This has spine roll, and there's a small tear through the spine which goes through the book. The right edge of the fc has some tanning and a little brittleness, and some pieces have flaked off. Inside pages are actually supple enough. This is an awesome Empire State Building cover by Al Hartley. I have no idea what this is "worth," but I know how much it will take to get it out of my hands!
  15. Girls' Romances #52 - 4.5 - $49 One of my absolute favorite romance comics and covers, period. And one that is gaining some steam. Awesome greaser cover with moody wash background. So great. This one is just a nice, solid copy. There is one issue - there are some light scratches on the hair of the male figure, as seen in the scans. I love this one! Which is why I paid through the nose for a high grade copy, freeing up this awesome undercopy! SOLD!
  16. All True Romance! Last time I did a sales thread I let one of these go really cheap. Turns out they aren't quite so easy to find! Live and learn. Or maybe don't learn, because I have a feeling I'm still pricing these too cheap. But here's #25, 26 and 27, - $65 each, or $175 for all three. All True Romance #25 - 4.0 - dust shadows All True Romance #26 - 2.5 - spine split at top, some tanning All True Romance #27 - 4.5 SOLD!!
  17. Dear Beatrice Fairfax #9 - 2.5 - $100 Alex Schomburg romance cover! This has some tanning and seems pretty dirty. Back cover has a small tear and a little chipping at top of both fc and bc, but everything is holding together well.
  18. Journey Into Mystery #87 - 4.5 - $200 aka Thor #5. Great, bright colors on this one. Back cover has a small tear, as seen in scan. SOLD!
  19. Journey into Mystery #86 - 4.0 - $190 Fourth issue of Thor. This copy looks great! Looks like a 6.0, but it isn't. The two fefects of note: there's a tear on the fc through the word Thor that's a pretty good one - an inch and a half maybe. The other thing is there are actually a couple very faint cup rings on the FC where someone set a beverage on it. They aren't really noticeble even to the naked eye until you tilt the book to catch the light, so you can't really see it in the scans either. SOLD!
