  1. Betty and Veronica #41 - CGC 7.0 - $840 shipped This is tied with two other copies for second highest graded behind a single 7.5. Classic cover by the great Harry Lucey. I'm just guessing randomly at the price here, I don't even have GPA, so it's possible I just shot myself in the face. But hopefully this is a good deal for both you and me. A couple notes: I have no idea if this has been pressed, I just know I didn't do anything to it, it's exactly as I received it. I have closeups of some of the defects - I can't see this getting a higher grade than it has. Big things are a small tear and crease bottom front right, small piece out of cover above logo, some overhang of fc and some overspray on back. Some slight tanning by the looks? There are some faint smudge lines on the case itself I never noticed until just now. Not sure if they will clean off, but I don't want to mess with it. SOLD!
  2. Okay, I'm back. New policy: anyone who buys something from me is allowed to attempt to initiate a bromance. No promises, though. These sales threads always take forever, so I'm not sure how much I will get through before I'm too pooped to party. But coming up in this thread will be some romance, a couple early Marvel SA superhero books, a couple Archie books, and works by a few people you might have heard of like L.B. Cole, Alex Schomburg, Matt Baker, Dan DeCarlo, Jim Steranko, etcv. And some Lichtenstein inspiration. Plus some other random stuff. After I post some of the good stuff I'm going to change the thread title to reflect it, but for now, it's just our little secret.
  3. Taking a short break, then I will be back with some of the big individual issues. I don't see any sign of Comcav yet, so this may be your big chance! Do me a favor and buy those lots while I'm getting a beverage. They are dirt cheap, I'm losing money on all of them, I just need them out of my sight so the pain doesn't become crippling.
  4. Pep Comics lot 2 - Bronze Age readers - 50 issues - $75 shipped in U.S. This is most of the run between #232-299, mostly lower grade reader copies. The issues included are Pep Comics #232-240, 242-244, 246, 248, 249, 251, 254-256, 258, 259, 261-265, 267, 268, 270, 272, 274, 276, 278, 281-283, 285-289, 291, 294-297, 299 SOLD!

  9. Hello, gentle people of the CGC community. I'm excited that I just bought one of my big grail books! Hurray! And now I need to figure out how to pay for it! I've been buying and selling on the forums here since 2012, but I never kept up much with my kudos thread, so it's pretty empty. Still, I think most of you know who I am. And yes, there will be romance in this thread. 1. in thread trumps PM conversations. 2. In the case of multiple PMs, or take its, I will go by time stamp. 3. no HoS/probation people please. I'm Crimebuster, not Crimeenabler 4. unless otherwise noted, shipping is $8 for the first 3 books, and then an additional $1 per book above that for U.S. buyers. I will also ship to Canada I guess, but god only knows how much that will cost these days. My guess is at least $20, so if you're from Canada and want something, let me know and we can try to figure it out. Unfortunately, this is U.S. and Canada only, so my apologies to other international buyers. Shipping is through the USPS. 5. Paypal only! Thanks. 6. please pay promptly, I have a crimefighting monkey sidekick to feed 7. If there's any kind of issue with the books, let me know within one week of receiving it and we can figure out some kind of return. But I don't anticipate any issues!
  10. Avengers 1-502 ToS/Cap 58-454 Lots and lots of smaller runs And Boy Comics, of course! Full run, which is #3-119
  11. Here's the first part of a three part discussion of Avengers #211-230, the Fall of Yellowjacket storyline. In this first part, we cover the history of Hank Pym as well as issues #211-213, the infamous Trial of Yellowjacket issue.
  12. I had this happen yesterday. Spent 2000 on a comic, by far the most i have ever spent. It was shipped UPS with sig required. I went out to get something from my car and there's the package, tossed on my front steps. Didn't even ring the doorbell to let me know ot was there. Also, despite having fragile written all over it, they had dropped the box and dropped something heavy on it. The box was crushed and ripped, and I could see the corner of the cgc case poking out. Luckily it was mostly undamaged, though the case has a big scuff on the corner where it impacted. Great job, UPS.
  13. I've been a busy beaver, buying comics and making videos about those comics, so I've got a batch of new videos for you today. First, here are two haul videos where I show off the stuff I've been picking up on ebay during the pandemic: And then in this one, I discuss some of the my favorite storylines in comics history:
  14. Hello, friends! I'm hard at work on The Crimebusters #3, so I thought I would share a sneak preview up the upcoming issue. Here's the first three pages. The forums here are compressing them slightly, so they look a tetch fuzzy, but don't worry, they are crisp and clear in real life.

    Wonder Woman!

In my latest video, I show off the first part of my complete bronze Age Wonder Woman run - this one covers the I-Ching New Look era, as well as the 12 Labors era, with issues #178-227:
  16. My Strange Tales 167 from a couple months earlier has this - the right edge is a bit jagged like the trimmer was dull when it was produced. Manufacturing issue.
  17. It's been a little while since I posted an update, because I've been too busy doing stuff to talk about the stuff I've been doing! Since this is the CGC forum, I'll start with a video I made about the process of trying to submit my own comic, The Crimebusters, to CGC. Let's just say it's been very confusing, to the point where multiple CGC reps have seemed almost as confused as I am. The main point of confusion seems to be that CGC has divided their services into two totally separate areas - the Signature Series books are handled by a totally different branch of the company than regula rbooks. This is fine if you're just sending one or the other, but since I am sending in both, nobody quite seemed sure how I'm supposed to submit the books. Adding to the confusion is the fact that I am a creator acting as my own witness for the SS books, but in addition to my Artist Account, I also have a personal CGC account with $150 credit that I want applied to my submissions. It seems as though I can't get the Artist rate on SS submissions if I use my own personal account credit, which basically means I'll have to pay twice as much if I use that credit as I would if I used the Artists Account and paid that way instead. Anyway, I eventually did my best and sent it in - 4 copies of my book for regular encapsulation, and one cover sketched and signed by myself to the Signature Series. I included a long letter explaining what I am trying to do here, but I'm expecting a phone call from them some time this week asking for clarification, because honestly. This doesn't seem like it should be so complicated! Here's the video I made about this - when I get the books back, I'll do an unboxing so I can rant about how they aren't graded as high as they should be: I also did a slew of other videos in the last week, but for the sake of not swamping this journal, I've just picked a few that I think you'll find most itneresting. Here's a comparison of Marvel and DC's bicentennial treasuries: Here's a way-too-in-depth breakdown of Adventure Comics #427: And here's another deep dive into a box of comics - this time they are war and horror books: ALSO!!! the final two episodes of my 6-part podcast series discussing Marvel's Star Wars have both finally dropped! Here's part 5, covering issues #81-94 and more! Here's part 6, covering issues #95-107!

    Men

This is the men's version of the "girls, girls, girls," thread, right? Let's see those sexy beefcake covers! I'll start:
  19. Okay, I am totally stoked to have gotten a copy if this - as soon as I saw it, I had to buy it because it was so unexpected. Never heard of it before: Now I need to take a picture of all three together, 1970, 1971, and 1977. Unless there are more years hiding out there I haven't seen yet?!
  20. I've got a Twin Cities book here somewhere with a tear on the cover covered by scotch tape! I guess even the top collectors sometimes goofed up.
  21. I don't have a lot of foreign editions, but whenever I travel to other countries, I try to hit up their comic shops to buy some local comics as souvenirs. I made a video about my small collection of souvenir foreign comics here - a couple of them are original works from those countries, but most of them are foreign editions of U.S. comics.
