  1. I can share a PS4 game with as many people as I want who are not in my familly.

I wonder How Companies like EA will cope with the two systems having two different DRM methods

I think EA was the one behind trying to get them both to have DRM but when Sony said to no on adding any restrictions. They mostly got mad and gave MS dlc exclusive on games and a little more support.
  2. PS4 will play used games & won't require always-online connection.

    Plus,a $399 price tag.

    SONY RULES!! :headbang:

As an Xbox and Xbox 360 owner, even I admit the console war is over before it even began. Going to pre-order a PS4.

Probably going to do the same. Such a shame there's no backwards compatibility as I'd love to play some of the older PS3 games on the PS4.

that's in the works with their cloud services company they spoke about in the event. Can't remember name of the company.
  3. Sorry,but I'm not buying a console that charges a "fee" for borrowing a friend's game :P

    PS4 for me

You may have to settle for a Wii U then...Sony has stated they may implement a similar system.

This is the future. Those that dislike Nintendo may soon find that they are the only true gaming company left. I feel sorry for those that bought a PS Vita right now. The lack of games is killing that system and I really enjoyed Uncharted.

Not quite. The Wii-U is an absolute disaster, and developers have no interest in making games for it. It's about 4 years too late.

Even with these changes to the Xbox and PS4, Nintendo is in big trouble. They are out of touch with third parties, as evidenced by the Wii's atrocious software line-up. People will buy the console that has games, and the PS4 and Xbox One are where the games are.

If this used game thing turns out to be a costly mistake, all it takes is a system update to fix it. Nintendo needs a new console to fix its problems.

And btw, for the first time in the show's history, Nintendo will not have a conference at E3 this year. The reason? Because it will be a colossal waste of time and money considering they have NOTHING to show. That's huge.

    Hello COI,

To be fully honest (even as a dealer), I could care less one way or another. Keep in mind the 3DS was also called 'dead on arrival.' I am just curious if all those 'outraged gamers' who are upset over the whole 'pay per play' used software issue are still gong to supposedly boycott these systems when they see the new 'insert favorite franchise game here.'

I can tell you however, that if it is in their business plan to charge for used game use, they will not opt to replace it. They would if anything just lower the cost. Microsoft is all about control. This move is hardly surprising and Sony has been known to play follow the leader all too often...

If it is truly called PS 4 shouldn't I be able to play a PS 2 or PS 3 game on it? I can see dropping the PS One emulation, but come on; are they building a brand or not?

Fair comment on the 3DS, but the main difference is that Nintendo has always dominated the handheld space. Sony's handhelds have always been amazing pieces of tech that no one really asked for. The Vita is amazing, but it has no games. It seems as though the Vita may serve as the tablet for the PS4 though, so that remains to be seen.

Backwards compatibility will exist on both Microsoft and Sony's consoles, but it will be in the form of DLC and streaming. So the branding and support for past and present products will be there, but at a cost.

The publishers are seemingly trying to move away from physical retail boxes and go exclusively digital. And judging by the Xbox One conference, Microsoft is trying to dominate the living room, and they're going off the rails in the process. After the Xbox conference, Sony's stock price went up. So ultimately, it really isn't clear who will have the leg up going into next gen. E3 sure will be interesting this year.

Microsoft said they don't plan on having backwards compatibility for xbox one when at all now or in the future. Like Sony is planning to do with gakai so the ps4 to be able to play all games.
  4. A system that requires constant Internet connection? No thanks...

What happens to all those games once they pull he plug on the system six to eight years later? I remember the controversary when they pulled the plug on Xbox live for the original Xbox. Better hope the next Xbox is backwards ompstible...and they do not lock out used games.

Sorry but you have been misinformed. You do not need to be online all the time and you will be able to buy used games.

    http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/21/4352542/xbox-one-always-online-not-required-used-games-work

    Let's begin at the beginning.

Will it be backwards compatible? No, confirmed thus far by Gamespot. Of course, this is the same site that announced it will require an Internet connection before the press release.

Will there be a fee for used games? Unclear, but looking to be that way. This means the preowned market is severely limited on this console.

Either way it won't matter. I won't buy or sell it...oh wait, as a dealer I may not be able to...no loss!

MS has confirmed that it will not be backward compatible. Which is no big deal to me. I was excited that the 360 was able to play some of the first Xbox's games and then I never played any of the first gen games. I know for some people this is important, but for me it's not a big deal. I'll still have the the 360 in the house so if I want to play an old game I'll be able to.

Old games find their way to the system. I downloaded the first Haol game to the 360 when it was released. I also found an old PS1 game Vigilante 8, and downloaded that. So the old discs may not work, but if the game is popular it will find it's way to the system.

I think we need to wait until MS tells us what the cost will be for a used game before we determine how much it will hurt places like Gamestop. Also correct me if I am wrong but isn't Sony talking about the same thing with used games?

I like the ability to load the game to the hard drive and then and then never have to put the disc in to play the game. I am going to guess that you will be able to purchase a game on the MS Live and download it to the machine. That is something I would use.

I know they have a deal with the NFL, but not sure what that entails. I also want to know more about watching TV through the Xbox. I may be able to send my set-top-box back to Verizon.

Finally live action Halo TV show.

    Problem is, per GameSpot:

All those downloaded Xbox Live games you have will NOT transfer to the new system and you will need (thus far) to allow the Xbox One access to an internet connection at least once a day.

This is very sad news in my opinion. I will not be buying. Then again, if it wasn't for the 60 GB backwards compatible PS3 that I bought two of brand new; I wouldn't own a PS3 system either...

The once a day (or week or month what ever it is) doesn't bother me. It will make the system worthless once the servers are turned off but that's the direction the industry is going. If I have the ability to load the game to my HD and play it without the disc, what prevents me from just giving the game to all my friends? I don't see it as a big deal, but that's me.

The PS4 wont be backward compatible either so will you be passing on that system too?

I also think this will be the last generation that has a physical copy of a game. I can see the PS5 and the Xbox [whatever] having a big HD and no DVD player. That would be a big shift in the industry.

Over all the new Xbox looks good, and I do plan on purchasing one. All I need to know is the release date.

Sony did say that they are planning on make PS4 able to play past generation games in the future using GAKAI. M$ made it clear they won't be bringing or planning on make any xbox or 360 available for the xbox one(worst name).
