  1. HOM 187, one of my favorite covers. Great coloring. Nice books Sterling.
  2. Glad you liked the book Cosmic. You bought it from me on Ebay. I was surprised to find it in my stash. I was putting together a run of 301-328 to sell on Ebay and came across this one which was much thicker than the rest. Glad I spotted it, otherwise the winner of the 301-328 set would have found a nice surprise. ------Sid
  3. Hey, you're right, I never noticed that before. I guess my mind needs to get back in the gutter where it belongs. $800 for a 9.6 huh? Geez, I got a steal on this one. It's probably a 9.2. Bought it recently at the Chicago con for $16. It was in a hard to find box at one of those blow-out dealers. Some people ignore those guys, but every once in a while you can find a few gems when not even expecting to. -----Sid
  4. We're working on you slowly POV. You are being brainwashed one publisher at a time. You want to know what's next? Warren mags. Pretty soon, you'll be wanting Vampirella, Creepy and Eerie. Thery're comin' for ya' POV, THEY'RE COMIN'.
  5. Sterling, Shiver, POV, etc....well guys, at least we made it into about 165 pages before starting to look like a typical hijacked thread in Comics General. With that said, here is another cover that has maybe been posted before, maybe not..... Even if it has, I'm sure there are newbies to the thread that have not yet seen it. Cool Giant Kubert. -----Sid
  6. Here's one with an interesting perspective: Please ignore URC
  7. Oh, silly me, I just thought you guys liked this cover because of the positioning of the girl on the left. I guess it was just me. ----Sid
  8. HEY NOW!!! This one is "Spine Tingling" IT COUNTS!!!! While I outta' ...........
  9. Sometimes you guys get on such a roll with the DCs and the Charltons, I just gotta throw in a classic Marvel book so as not to forget........
  10. Nice going Sterling for starting the thread and to everybody who has made this darned thread the best thread on the entire forum. By the way, pinned or not, you know that this thread would have never fell below the halfway point on the first page anyway. We should all feel now like Steve Martin in The Jerk when he finally got his name listed in the phone book. Or at least Sterling should now that his name is now up there in neon lights
  11. Shiver, I hope you have more room for your comics in your new place. You'll need it.
  12. "What you talkin' bout, Willis?" To me, all I need to do is add a swinging Spider-man to eliminate any effect intended. ManWolf looks like he's ready to take a dump. Simply comical. The horror of it is simply that they would take a superhero villian and make him anything that I would be fearful of in the horror sense. Just me...Diffrent Strokes. Well, well, well Mr. Drummond. The only real terror is Dana Plato. A video store robbing Playboy model wannabe who's dead by her own hand? Oh, the horror of it all.-------Willis
  13. Call me a purist. Personally, any character that came from a superhero background just isn't believable for a "horror" character. TOD and WBN are the only ongoing character that makes the cut IMHO. And even some of these issues were riddled with other Marvel characters: Iron Man, Dr Strange, Moon Knight etc. which stretched my patience. If I wanted freakin superheros, I woudl've picked up one. Mr. Purist, I can understand that sentiment. Marvel original Bronze horror was mostly superhero/villians made into classic monsters. But from my point of view, more of a cover and art guy than a reader guy, it's all equally horror to me. A cover like I posted above with Man-Wolf, that cover on it's own to me is pretty dang frightening. I mean, it looks as if ol' Manny is about to drop his head and just rip into that girl's throat. To me, that is horror. Story-wise I understand your point and if I read these books I'd probably agree with it. -----Sid
  14. Marvel Bronze Horror just 'aint gettin' the respect it deserves on this thread (don't forget about these books too POV). Although it was just earlier this year that I caught the DC bronze horror bug, I have been into these Marvel books for the last 30 years. ----Sid
  15. Welcome to the new and improved, fruity-flavored relaunching of..... "THE INFINITE BRONZE CEREAL THREAD" Anyone coming to the first thread party dressed as Frankenberry will be redirected to the Village People reunion going on elsewhere.
  16. Lil' Greggy's been the serious OT cop recently. Go get 'em Gregory.
  17. Dice, that is AWESOME!!! Dang, whoever is controlling that lil' Skeleton is a pro. He really makes that thing come alive. Coolest thing I've seen in a while. I'll be watchin' that again.
  18. Franken Berry seemed a little girlish to me... c'mon it's a PINK BOX! [no pun intended or inferred or implied] Count Chocula rules! Yeah, and Boo Berry looks a little stoned.
  19. Actually yes, I remember. Don't remember which cereal or which record, but there were some cheap little records attached to some of those cereal boxes back then. I guess the modern equivalent would be an AOL CD Rom.
  20. The Brute in Pulp? OK, you gotta point out where that is, I've got the DVD. There ya' go. Another guy like me mainly going for the best covers. I think that is going to dictate what is rare or not. The "rare" books are just in the collectors hands already. The lessor cool covers are probably what is still sitting in all those boxes. I agree with cons and Ebay. I mainly use Ebay to buy large lots to flip as I can get some pretty good deals that way. But for buying individual copies and buying my favorites, the cons are the best way to go for sure. Plus, it's instant gratification. -----Sid
  21. Fruit Brute? I never heard of that guy at all but I remember dozens of commercials for the other three.
  22. Well, one new convert here. After years of collecting ASM and near completion of my #1-20 CGC run, I found myself burning out on Spidey. Lurking on the boards one night, I found this thread and then of course the Shiverbones site and they really revitalized my interest in collecting. I never read DC Bronze horror growing up, but those covers rock! Fortunately that occured right before Wizard World Chicago, so I was able to indulge my newfound interest last weekend... Verbow, looks like we were checking out the same boxes. Did you pick up anything interesting? I don't remember the name of the dealer but I got alot of stuff from that one dealer that had all the "good stuff" in the middle at 35% off and all the other stuff at 50% off. It would be interesting to hear your take on Chicago. I wrote a little report on it a few pages back if you wanna check it out. ---Sid
  23. Who knows? Maybe some new collectors don't even know they are reprints. Why is it that DC had so many great Bronze horror anthology books and Marvel had none? But with that said, whenever I think of Bronze horror, which I have been alot recently, what always pops into my mind first and foremost is WBN and TOD. -----Sid
  24. Sterling, regarding your sales, anything surprise you as far as what they ended up selling for? Either on the high or the low side? 9.4? 9.6? 9.8? Just wondering since I'm getting into the slabbing business with these books too. In the next day or two I'll be pulling out my stash and seeing if I have anything in 9.4 or above on your list. Might have some of the later ones.-----Sid
  25. Sterling, I feel bad for not picking you up anything in Chicago, but I would be willing to sell you anything that I had, if you needed it and if I had it in high enough grade. I think 9.4 is about as high as my early 70s books get though, many down to 8.5. Just list here what you need and I'll check my inventory. I have doubles or more of some, but no copies of others. -----Sid
