  1. Thanks for sharing -- now that's one tough granny.
  2. That was listed yesterday, after #98 was released, and it became quite clear that that was NOT Daryl Dixon on the cover. Hence the decision to sell, I guess. But it also makes the title and description suggesting Daryl's first appearance a bit misleading. Hope the buyer didn't buy it thinking he was getting something he wasn't. And just for those lazy forum people out there - that link is to the SOLD cover of issue 102 - for....wait for it........ ........ $2100.00 - yes, two thousand one hundred dollars. I forget exactly, but wasnt that cover $700 6 months ago on splash? More power to the seller!
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WALKING-DEAD-102-Original-Cover-Art-by-Charlie-Adlard-Daryl-Dixon-/200769119861?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebec5a675 WD MANIA CONTINUES!!!! I now feel completely fine about my listing prices.
  4. There are a couple of pages that are still reasonable - but they are getting slimmer and slimmer - I just placed the van splash from 97 on hold -- that was pretty fairly priced..
  5. I'll be the first to say Adlard's work is sometimes downright schoolkid doodle bad (see this post: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=17&Number=5706022 ) But at other times he is simply brilliant - I am thinking his use of light / negative light and his depiction of nature (trees / clouds / sun ) I agree about pages circa 35~ and earlier are generally more well drawn though...
  6. Our discussion (via CAF and e-mail) was cordial, if unmemorable. My only real point here is that if you're going to blast Adlard for his prices, then it's fair to bring up your asking prices. Which frankly, make Adlard's seem like a bargain. As well, if you're going to call the Tony Moore "Rick in a hospital bed" page "terrible", "lame", and a bad buy ( http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=126458&Number=5706106#Post5706106 ), then you may want to rethink this listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walking-Dead-Issue-13-Page-22-FIRST-APPEARANCE-of-4-MAJOR-CHARACTERS-Adlard-/140758780565?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c5e08a95 Fair is fair. Just my I stand by everything I said about Issue 1 Page 2 - I think its a really boring page..I think its drawn really well, but there really isnt anything to it. As for whether I would buy it or not - is just my personal preference - I did note in my post that I get the pricing, that its first issue, a 1st appearance of the central character, first page in the present of their universe... As for Adlard's pricing: - I think Issue 90's pages shouldn't be as expensive as issue 30's 40's etc...there is something about having a page that is a bit older that makes it more expensive in my opinion.. Also - I don't have an issue with expensive zombie pages, on splashpage or anywhere else - my issue is with the otherwise run-of-the-mill pages that Mark is now selling for $200+ which I think is nuts! Which just a few weeks ago were $100 - As for our discussion for the sale of the two pages you asked me about - you left out that I did tell you in my reply email that the price I gave you was high, but that the market was insane (I checked your CAF and then my email) I think I was actually overly honest in our exchange - and just as an FYI, I have 3 people (2 from this very forum) with an open "will buy" for that same very price I offered you, should I choose to sell.. Also, as for my first appearance page - I actually personally like it better than the hospital bed, they are having meatloaf!! And I admit my asking price is high - but that doesn't mean I won't be reasonable via private offer in an email.. I appreciate your attempt at a discussion, but I feel like its more of an attack than an actual discussion.. Jerry
  7. I've inquired. Everything is priced, you just have to ask. To me, prices seem high. Certainly higher than anything on Splash Page. Your mileage may vary. Here are some pages for sale on eBay...you can decide for yourself: http://www.ebay.com/sch/gotitonhere/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=50&_trksid=p3692 Now, I'm firmly in the camp that people can ask whatever they want. But don't turn around and blast Adlard for his prices. Hypocritical and looks like the anger is more about decreased margin for flipping, than anything else. And with that I stand corrected. Jim I listed the cover to 93 last week (I am saving up for a really neat but pricey piece) - To my utmost surprise it sold for $1500 within a few hours -- I had it as a BIN for $1850, because I too, have seen the WD bubble... Once I saw the page sell for that price - I listed a few more, at high prices, with a "well it just costs me 50 cents to list so why not mentality" As for the person who contacted me with the "price seems high" line - I don't remember any exchange between yourself and I - but I can assure you that my starting out "cold offer to sell" price is just that - a cold offer to sell - Had we had a discussion, I would gladly give my opinion as to real world value vs. speculative value, Also - I do list every page (with the exception of 1 singular page) for sale or trade - I actually felt very weird listing 93 on Ebay shortly after acquiring it - but I discussed it with the prior owner and he was really cool about it - I can tell you that its not my intention of "insta-flipping" anything - but if the right offer comes along, I wont turn down a good deal - as the case with the cover to 93. just my .02 - take it with a grain of salt =)
  8. Got a new WD page - more to come soon but I had to share this one first - one of my fav's http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=898527&GSub=128557 Hope you all enjoy!
  9. Has anybody seen the OA for the cover to 69? I have - I am in talks to buy it ;x
  10. The Zodiac Message Boards... Just Kidding. Sign of the times I guess, when this kind of stuff happens. If anyone needs me I'll be on my farm.
  11. I don't know what's more disturbing - the fact that someone out there is eating people's faces, or that someone posted the news about it on a zombie fan message board..
  12. I hear ya - and I respect it - I put an offer in too - around 5k - strictly as an investment piece - I actually think it will go up in value - I think all TM pages will - even those on his site at the 5k range...
  13. I am sure I will get some heat for this too - but I actually think that was a terrible page too (while drawn 10000000 times better than Adlard) it was a pretty lame page - it was Rick, in a bed. Thats it. 8.5 grand for that!?!?! I can think of way cooler stuff for 8.5 grand!! I get that it was a first appearance, and the 2nd page of the entire series, and that it was the first page of the present, in the story, but still, its Rick, in a bed.
  14. No doubt artwork increases in value - but I think for artwork to increase it has to be good artwork -- You really dont see a problem with the page I linked? The character in the foreground looks like a GIANT while the character in the background looks like a gi-joe toy -- the bricks are too large and high up - its just not a well drawn page
  15. I inquired about prices on 8 - I didn't say I would buy 8 -- I was going to price a few different pages -- I agree about the coolness of the OA aspect, which is why I still buy his artwork - I am not looking for a fight on the issue - just giving my opinion -- which I stand by --
  16. I actually think Adlard isnt a very good artist - his perspectives are sometimes wrong, and at times, so bad they are amateur -- check this page out: http://www.splashpageart.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=21230&ArtistId=84&From=Title Not only is that a horrible perspective, but Mark for whatever reason chose to SHOWCASE that as a featured page!!! ITS TERRIBLE. The ONLY reason Adlard's artwork is hot is because of WD - and only some of his pages are even nice -- in fact, in my opinion 95% of them are pretty plain and boring -- which fetched plain and boring prices - like $100 or so -- NOW, Mark is charging dumb expensive prices on those same plain and boring pages -- thats where I have my gripe --- I totally get that covers, nice splashes, and nice panel pages should fetch a premium, but COME ON -- $350 for that mess of a page I linked???
  17. Yep its insanity - especially on something unpublished which 65% of the real estate of the piece is a gorgeous splash of white... I inquired about 8 pieces before Mark posted the pages online, the prices were insane - I bought similar pieces last year for half the price...I am passing too... But I am sure some members here will buy, and put them on ebay immediately, thus driving the price even higher for fellow members who actually collect...but thats another story....
  18. new pages are up at splashpage -- though you need uncle scrooge money to buy lately - these prices are ridic.
  19. I hope it sells!!! That would make mine worth $5k+ And it means I just finished giving away $100k. I hope it sells!!! That would make mine worth $5k+ And it means I just finished giving away $100k. I hope it sells!!! That would make mine worth $5k+ And it means I just finished giving away $100k. Its being sold by Jerry Gallo -- isnt he dead?
