As Paper Airplane pointed out in another thread with ASM 300 becoming more and more popular, and its rise to being one of the copper era keys its "amazing" that a thread for it hasn't been made yet, so I thought I'd take care of that. Show them if you got them!

What books do you have that are that old!?Thanks for the answers! I might try the kitty litter method. Do you put the comic directly in the litter, or maybe put some newspaper around it first to keep it from getting the litter in the pages? I'd try the charcoal too but that seems a little more involved. There are 8 comics in dire need of de-odorizing.
I swear by the following method. Used it on some of my books (some dating back to the 1700s which were smelling awful.
1) get a rubber maid tub (the deep ones)
2) Get a 10 pound bag of unscented cat litter and pour it all into the tub. Let it sit for an hour or so (to let the air particles settle as much as possible)
3) take a small container and put your book/books into it and place the container on top of the kitty litter.
4) Take 4 glasses/cups and fill them with baking soda. Place each glass/cup in a corner of the bin
5) Seal the top with saran wrap
6) put the lid on for 1-2 days
7) Go buy an unused paint brush or makeup brush.
8) open the lid up and gently brush off your books. The should smell MUCH better
Hope that helps
P.S I've also heard charcoal is good on smelly books.

That one seems to be all over the place. It looks like the regular price paid is between 2k-6k, nicer panels in the A range from 7k to a little over 10k, and then you have one, page that went for a little over 65k, but that was do to it being the first Thor appearance in JIM 83. I got this of past auction sales on Heritage in a few minutes, so I'm sure I'm wrong on a lot of this though. One problem here is that $20-40K is such a wide range. For example, I've heard of TOS sales in the low 20's, which would qualify it for this tier, but the range is then misleading. Same with McFarlane ASM...I'd be more comfortable putting it in the $10-20K range, even if there were a couple of sales in the 20's (and I'd argue that at least one of those was "A+" as far as panel pages go).In fact, looking over the list so far, I'd say it'd be more accurate to list the majority of those as $20-30K.
Totally agree - was thinking pretty much the same thing. There are a number of TOS panel pages that could reach the low $20Ks, but probably very few that could reach $30K+. And, my guess is that there are more A pages that are still in the teens than >$20K.
I agree that 20-40k is a big range and could use some adjustment. At the same time, I don't see how true grade A TOS panel pages could range from the teens to the 30k+ level as you suggest. That's too big a range for such narrowly focused conditions, unless you put a premium for certain inkers (Sinnott, Giacoia, Stone), but even then, I believe that's too wide a range if they are all grade A. And I assume we are only talking large art since there are so few small pages and none of them would even hit the high teens I believe.
Anybody want to take a stab at Kirby Thor pages?

Nice! I'm surprised the direct edition graded lower then the news stand one.

Can't wait to see those scans! Thanks to an e-mail from miraclemet, I just found out that the great Okajima debate was raging here on the boards! As has been previously discussed in the thread, I purchased roughly 1/3 of the books, and issued the COA's for those books when I sold them. When I purchased the original lot, I made a detailed inventory list (which I still have), and noted all markings on the front and back covers. I also made color xerox copies of many of the covers. I'll dig out my original file, and see if I can add anything to this thread. I'll cross check your "probable" list against my inventory notes, but I know that most on there are correct. I don't see anything that would lead me to believe the All New #11 is an Okajima, unless there's markings I don't see. A few points that you've been discussing, I can speak to, without checking the files to refresh my memory. I spent countless man hours trying to get the story behind the collection, and trying to track down the missing 2/3 of the books. I spoke with a relative by phone, and that's how the story of the camp came to light. I also discovered a hand written letter tucked into one of the comics, and from that sample, I can say to a relative certainty that the "Okajima" -script on the camp books was written by the original owner, not a worker at the camp, or a relative. There are a few lower grade copies in the pedigree, because the comics were stored in an outside shed, and some of the books on the bottom of the stacks had damage from the elements, and from insects. I also kept a few books from the collection (some are books from the camp era, but not all), which have never seen the light of day, so I'll dig those out and make some scans. -
This is interesting.
7th grader writes a letter to DC and asks how they plan to compete against Marvel movies.
DC writes back.
...our movies far exceed all of Marvel's in sales.
Possibly true with Batman and Superman movies scaled for inflation

Beerbong is on his facebook page right now quoting Upton Sinclair and proclaiming himself a champion of all that is "right".
https://www.facebook.com/robert.beerbohm?fref=ts
The next time he and reality are in the same room someone should introduce them to each other.
From his facebook. This quote is directed at CGC.... -
Definitely. Question though what was he charging on shipping, cheap shipping usually means cheap packaging. Except of course for a few sellers.quick questionso I purchased a cheap slab and the seller shipped poorly (envelope, with bubble wrap), of course it came in cracked. I assume seller is at fault here for poor shipping correct?

Dear Gator
If you were to discover a wherehouse find of Action comics 1, and Detective comics 27, but could only keep one, which one would you pick, and why? How would you go about putting them on the market, and who would you give the other group of comics to?
Also keep in mind that they would become the highest graded on the census, matching, or exceeding even the fabled Mile high Action 1, and Allentown Detective 27 so either would bring record prices at auction.
Action 1. Pass out the remainders to boardies as party favors!
Works for me.
