  1. This really is the full proof method I've learned. I've won a few pieces when thinking "Just one more bid" to myself which wouldn't have happened if I had not been on and just let my max automated bids do it all.
  2. Seems like that backlong just got longer. Derailment happened yesterday.
  3. I just love that Contact #12 cover. It just screams classic comic book to me. I'm also following the Eerie Comics #1, Captain America Comics #74, Startling comics #46, Venus #1 and a few others. Won't be bidding on them but seeing all these new top census books come up makes it hard to ignore.
  4. I know what you mean. I was amazed when I saw that Captain America Comics #74 with a grade of 9.2. That book is hard to find and when they get listed always in low grade. It will be fun to see what that goes for with it being the top graded copy now too. Same with the Startling Comics #46 in 9.8. Almost all these books are now the highest graded copies available or tied for it.
  5. Anyone own this or know who does and if they'd be interested in selling it? It was by Ken Steacy for the 1993 Marvel Materpieces cardset.
  6. Anybody notice that this auction seems to have a collection being sold with the mark for it being them all having Stan Lee sigs? 32 pieces total I was able to see with one in the last focused auction for 33 total.
  7. Thinking about it, it's probably just a private invite Facebook group. I've seen a few statue companies before who make characters who otherwise wouldn't get a statue where you need to get invited to their facebook group in order to be able to purchase one. You can find them through Instagram usually with a link to the page.
  8. Wow that's amazing. Out of curiosity where would one go to ask about getting a custom statue made?
  9. Thought I'd post this cool copy of ROM #1. It's a special one because it was actually the personal copy of Sal Buscema himself. Sal as it turned out for all these years owned the complete original art interiors to the first 3 issues of ROM space knight and sold them all semi-recently within the last few years. The first two issues got posted on his rep's site for sale and broken up while the third was sold complete to one collector which can be seen on CAF. I was able to get some of those pages to the first issue with two examples shown a few post up. Because I was buying a few pages and Sal's rep lived close to me we both decided to meetup half way for him to deliver them in person. When we met he included the comic with the pages he got from, Sal. The funny thing about it though is that while Sal is known for signing all his art (sometimes a little to much) he didn't sign the comic.
  10. It's a nice page but other than it being from issue one doesn't really have much going for it if it was based solely on the art aspect. It's also not technically a full title splash either when you think about it. It's page 26 not the page 1 title splash that we're use to so it might be better to call it a chapter splash since it was the second story that rehashedhis origin in the book. The art isn't a full splash either but partial one with the bottom half being panels. The top part of course is cool with the lettering of "Origin of Iron Man" and the Iron Man figure but that's all it has going for it which is why we see the price that we did.
  11. Have you tried contacting Lee's art rep, Essential Sequential? On CAF, Lee posted art from this series he still owned not that long ago and up to at least 2015 still had some of it that he was selling at shows. Since your want doesn't seem to be DD in costume or action scenes which is what is normally desired it could be possible that he still has some in his possession that might fit your wants.
  12. Moon Knight. It's from a commission I had done of him.
  13. Great stuff, Gator. Cool to see you getting into the art side of comics.
  14. No, the seller on Ebay is actually a reseller who was able to get one when they got released or "dropped" which is term often used for when limited edition products are released. Here's what I wrote about it before if you want a more thorough answer on what these nfts seem to be from this company veve. In it you'll notice that to buy these nfts when they drop, you'll only be able to purchase them using their own crypto currency which requires you to exchange US dollars to get. Looking at it the original price of these nfts seemed to be around 40 to 100 dollars depending on the rarity. Higher level rarities mean lower amounts offered like with how this one is described as a common and has 7500 total. Something like an ultra rare will cost more and maybe only have 1000 total available; never to be reissued again or known as the first edition which is kind of relatable with comics. An advantage they have is that these are all officially licensed products from companies like, DC, Warner Bros, etc and not a rando selling them which gives them a type of legitimacy. I noticed a few Jim Lee nfts too which seem to always be the rarer ones. You might want to look into it actually and see if you and Jim are getting any shares of these sales since the models are based of your work. NFTs themselves are suppose to give the artists who created them originally a percent every time their resold but it seems like these eBay sellers are getting around that since you can't really enforce it through ebay sales and the veve app records it as being traded for "free". If you want to read about more you can checkout this article https://www.one37pm.com/nft/art/veve-nft-digital-collectibles
  15. It's a digital statue, you can see when you use the AR feature on the app through your phone camera.
  16. Anyone see how NFTs have started to be included on hot ebay auctions over at CAF? This piece is currently over $300 dollars and seems to be a model done for a McFarlane Batman statue. The idea for these seems to be that this company called VEVE does timed drops of pop culture properties combined with them drops all being limited releases and having rarity scales. These digital items are then added to your digital collection that can be viewed in AR through your phone. The company seems to make their money on this by you only being able to buy these items when they drop by converting real-world currency into their exclusive crypto and using it to buy items from their store. Looking through other auctions it seems they also do drops of comic book covers too with the rarity scale for them being variant covers that have a smaller number of releases. It seems to be working for them though since everything is listed as soldout. The must have a deal with Warner Brothers too since they only have DC and other properties belonging to them and do seem to use real world variant covers that were digitized. Here's an example of a current one at the highest rarity they list with a bid of over $500 currently. Going through sold listings it seems someone paid up to $1000 for one of them also and many others so not just a one off either. The most expensive sale I've found so far has been this Golden Ghost Busters ED logo that sold with a single person bidding on the starting asking price of $13,500.
  17. Does private necessarily mean Black Hole collector though? I know tons of deals are done between collectors, and dealers that are private including big pieces that would be a highlight for auctions if made public. I think it would be better to say that while all black hole collectors are private with their collections and dealings, not all people who are private with their collection are black hole collectors and will sell and trade with others.
  18. For anyone interested, when the Hollywood Treasures TV show was on by Profiles in History, they were able to get Stan to look at an early issue of FF original art. He talks about the margin notes and repeats some of what has been talked about here about how he erased his notes but didn't say why. Interestingly he also said the margin notes were always Kirby (possibly meaning that it's because he almost always erased his own so you'll maybe only see Kirby's writing?) but also points out ones that were his. Why those weren't erased isn't said either.
  19. This is a great tidbit of comic history, and really shows how different the artists were. Not just in their styles but also what their working habits were and approached illustrating the stories.
  20. I feel this. I wasn't paying attention to comic pricing for a while and was more involved in original art. I come back and see what mid grade DD1s and x-men are going for and can't believe it. I even put wtb up over a year ago trying to get a X-men #1. Should have gone after it harder because that won't be happening now. Same for a few others. Can't do anything about it so just have to move on and hope prices go back into my range later on.
