  2. The item that most surprised me this auction was the sealed booster box of first edition pokemon cards. $66K is amazing to me.
  3. Those facebook groups should kick him so he can't screw people over like that.
  4. I remember checking their site a while back and coming across what they call a "60-day commission guarantee" http://serendipityartsales.com/60-day-guarantee/ from the link So according to point 3 on their site, Larry can only rip people off if they go through him directly but not his art rep since they hold the money and refund it if he doesn't complete it in the agreed upon timeframe.
  5. Thanks. I was nervous about having it sent through the mail even though the seller told me they had it insured but was lucky that we both lived relatively close to each other. After I had sent the payment we worked it out and agreed to meet at a public place that was equal distance from each other which ended up being a McDonald's.
  6. Hi all, I normally don't make a big deal out of my purchases but thought I'd share it with you all since it was a grail piece for me. One I never thought I'd actually own. I've been sitting on this piece for some weeks now and have debated showing for reasons often talked about on the boards before but figured it's better to show what you own than hiding it away wondering if it even exists. I also want to give my thanks to boardies who helped and gave me advice during the purchase. You know who you are and what piece it is. For those who don't, it's a grail I never thought I would actually ever own. The title splash page to the first ever issue of ROM Spaceknight! The artwork itself is actually 3 different pages. The original art which was drawn by Sal Buscema, with another page he did being nothing but the three panels that depict ROM crashing to Earth in the published image. Both those pieces had their images taken and were turned into stats which were used to make a stat only third page which was used as the published image. All of which you can see below.
  7. It's really interesting when you think about the art that some artists still have that has been held on to for decades. They could have sold it all in the 70's or 80s but held on to it where now if they want to sell they'd might be able to make more selling a single complete story than what their yearly salary at the big two was.
  8. Hello 2018 was the year in which I was able to acquire pieces which I never thought possible before... mostly by selling pieces I never thought I would. It was hard for sure but think I did the right thing since I never would have been able to get what I consider a grail any other way. It really allowed me to evolve as a collector and really put quality over quantity. https://www.comicartfans.com/MyLowry.asp?GSub=3117 I'll have my submissions and their descriptions in a spoiler tag so they don't take up a lot of room.
  9. An addition I'm very happy to make to my collection that I surprisingly got as a Christmas gift. I've mentioned it before but I'm a sucker for good dialogue which this page has when dealing with Galactus's thoughts of being lonely and thinking of the Silver Surfer. Even when I read the series this page stuck with me because of it and always thought it would be cool to own. When I saw it in the recent Clink auction, I thought to myself how I wish I could go after it but didn't have the finances. You can probably guess my expression when I unwrapped it.
  10. Very sad news. People, of course, knew it was coming, especially with his age and reports of failing health but doesn't make it easier once it happens. He did have issues and controversy surrounding him which we all know about but he also did a lot in helping shape the Marvel universe into what it is today. Acting as what we would now call a brand ambassador he did a lot which helped get it into the mainstream and keep the hobby relevant. For that I say thanks, and rest in peace.
  11. Thanks, yeah I like to think I do (or did, lol) but needed to raise the funds. It was hard for sure, selling some pieces I never thought I would but was able to keep some of my favorites at least. I think it was worth it though since I felt I could replace those other items eventually while on the other hand, there's only so many #1 pages from ROM. I mean I actually dreamed about owning these pages from when I read the comic so actually being able to get them was basically a dream come true. I was also able to get a grail piece which called for special actions to be taken.
  12. I'm really happy to show these two pieces off. I was lucky enough to be able to work out a deal for two very nice pages from ROM #1, consecutive pages at that! I had to sell a large amount of my collection and the deal took months to complete but I was able to finally get the pages in my hands a few days ago. Page 6 and page 7. These pages feature not only the first appearance of the Dire Wraiths in their human disguises but also ROM using his neutralizer for the first time to vanish them.
  13. I was lucky enough to be able to work out a deal for two very nice pages from ROM #1, consecutive pages at that too! I had to sell a large amount of my collection and the deal took months to complete but I was able to finally get the pages in my hands yesterday. Page 6 and page 7. These pages feature not only the first appearance of the Dire Wraiths in their human disguises but also ROM using his neutralizer for the first time to vanish them.
  14. I've seen him on Instagram where he was also listed a ROM page I had sold on comiclink. He also seems to deal in selling comics on there.
  15. Can people post pictures? I still might go but not sure.
  16. I remember seeing a piece with a reserve price of $500 a few years back.
  17. Hi, I have a few pieces in the current auction with them ending for next week. Many of which are pieces I never thought I would be selling, from my Kubert cover to my Sienksmoon Knight piece. Feel free to take a look, something might grab your eye. Moon Knight by #15. pg.4 Bill S. Was hard to sell this one http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1260450 New Teen Titans by George Perez #20 pg.5 Cool scene with both Beast Boy and Cyborg http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1260452 G.I Combat #276 cover by Joe Kubert. Great cover by a great artist in the genre he left a mark on. http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1260457 Kamandi the Last Boy on Earth #33 pg.7 by Jack Kirby. Really cool action scene drawn by the King himself. http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1260455 Marvel Fanfare #43 backcover of the human Torch by Howard Chaykin. I made collecting pin-up of this title one of my collecting and if you see it you'll understand why. http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1260456 Avengers #269 pg.6 by John Buscema. An awesome page telling the origin of Kang the Conqueror, just look at that face shot panel. http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions_first.asp&id=1260453
  18. I see Hulk #1 as one of the top three most valuable silver age marvel books when it comes to first appearances of heroes or number ones. The other two are AF15 and ASM1. Considering what even a low copy of Hulk 1 is going for I would get it if possible if it won't cost you much out of pocket. Even though the IH181 is also on fire and appreciating in value at a high rate it will still cost you less than the number 1 and is much more easier to replace.
  19. Does he still have the cover to Archie #1? I remember finding a thread from 05' that talked about how he used it, the Church copy of Superman #1 and 5 other unnamed covers as collateral for a loan.
  20. I'm really interested in how these two junkies got the idea in the first place to break into the Marvel warehouse? Out of everything they could have picked they chose that and taking oa that many people didn't see as valuable? Really makes me wonder if these two had been involved in comics in anyway that might have influenced them into picking it.
  21. The official general for Moon Knight. Everything goes from art, comics, and general discussion of the character.
  22. I believe that when the pages to ROM 1 were sold earlier this year that he signed all of them also. I'm glad he'll at least think about where he'll place his signature and not just write it on a character's head.
