  1. I really liked Nik, a lot. But for me the boards died before his passing. I was long gone when he died. My only regret in leaving when I did was not having more time around him.
  2. I picked up my books every week from my LCS for over 15 years but recently the owner decided that rather than selling to me at a small discount he would rather I spend my money on-line and get a large discount with free shipping.
  3. It's on my ftp site if you care to take a look. http://www.justafanboy.com/scans/art/colan_mcp_108_pg_1.jpg
  4. Marvel Comics Presents #108 Gene Colan and Al Willamsom Oh well, tried.
  5. In my signature there are links to web pages I put together years ago regarding Silver and Bronze Age crossovers, if you haven't seen them already.
  6. Matt and Sharlene Kindt Dept. H Issue 4 Page 20 http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1405061
  7. I met Jeff in Santa Fe, nice guy. He did this quick sketch for my daughter.
  8. That again is a matter of opinion., I think this thead is very important in terms of the future of our comic book world, myself I have been involved over 55 years..you call yourself an "old guy" so I assume you been around for a while also. Let remind you about Robert Bell and a number of big fish of years past never had 11-12 million comic books, of course they have been 30 years of new comics being made. At almost 400,000 ebay listings, that is a stagering number. Those who look far ahead ...are way ahead of the curve....looking down the road is not fun...its a reality check. It's all a matter of opinion.
  9. This thread was fun when it was about MHC. Now it's just lame.
  10. Being the OP of this thread I believe it is important to address this. I want to state publicly that I hold no bad feelings toward Chuck as either a person or Mile High as a business. Although it has been a number of years since I have purchased anything from Mile High, I will say Chuck has never personally cheated me or treated me unfairly. This thread was NOT started because I don't like Chuck, or because I don't believe he has a right to charge whatever he wants for the comics he owns. This was started because I was amazed that in today's world of easy internet access, where prices on easily accessible books can be quickly compared, that Chuck could even stay in business. When a person's price on an easy to find item is not a fraction higher than the competition, but multiples of it, I was baffled as to how Chuck could continue to sell books. Who is buying these books and why do they choose Mile High? I am NOT a big buyer of modern books or variants, so I cannot comment on that market. Perhaps that is his niche and perhaps those prices are acceptable. I really don't know. My original post compared several of Chuck's rather common low grade SA books to some competitors. In this arena it seemed like buying from Chuck would be equivalent to throwing your money into a huge bonfire. My main area of interest, however, is GA and Chuck's selection in that arena seems rather sparse for someone who own 10 or 11 million books. Let me repeat, however, for the record, I have no bad feelings or ill will toward Chuck or Mile High. As a seller, Chuck has the absolute right to charge what he wants. Thankfully, as a buyer, I have the right to take my business elsewhere. That is the free market system we live in. I don't dislike him any more than I dislike most people.
  11. The price is sufficient - there are no later printings of #1 with a $2.00 cover price. Thanks. Looks like that was a good deal, then. Any premium for a Welz auto? Only if it is witnessed I watched him draw it and sign it, so did his wife. Double witnessed.
  12. Thanks, they've been a lot of fun to do. Now my son wants a youtube channel so he can review Lego sets! Fire one up for him! Not really my thing, but he could end up with more subs than you.
  13. Nice videos, thanks for taking the time to make them. Subscribed.
  14. Brings a new dimension to flipping. Thats hilarious. Surprised people don't do that on ebay. Might have to blow the dust off of my ebay account.....
  15. Even with the added shipping charge, *if* the books arrive in stated condition, it's a decent price. Not a steal, but not highway robbery either. However, based on this transaction, I will not do business with them again. I tried them out and learned my lesson. Perhaps others can learn from my mistake, too. Icing on the cake update: Received my order today; instead of sending me the comic pictured on the site at the time of purchase (and priced accordingly), I now have the less valuable alternate cover. #neveragain I would email them and see if they will exchange out.... I on the other hand would cut my losses and run.
  16. I just did business with MCS for the first time a few weeks ago. I bought eight or nine back issues from them. One was encapulated, the others were raw. One book was graded 9.4, but it was only about 8.5 due to a flaw that might be easy to miss in a rush. One book was graded 4.0 and I think its more like a 6.0. All other books were pretty much dead on. I didn't bother returning the over graded 8.5 because it was only a $5 book and not worth the hassel. Over all I was happy with the transaction and I'll be doing more business with them in the future.
