I guess it depends on what you consider being “made whole”.
In one sense, yes, you have the money for this particular book.
On the other hand, the buyer’s fraudulent claim with PayPal has now negatively altered the way PayPal conducts it’s business with you for an unspecified period of time.
For someone who sells and uses PayPal regularly, is that “whole”?

Just FYI I don't see any evidence that he tried to color touch it. I'd take that off the table.
But clearly, he's marketing it as a certain grade himself. That removes ANY ability to negotiate that he thinks it's not up to snuff as advertised in the initial transaction.
I agree on the color touch. When I saw the pictures I thought it looked more like a difference in lighting. But I didn’t say anything as I’m not really an expert on color touch.
However, I think the OP has already acknowledged that he’s walking back the accusation of color touch.
The buyer is the one who keeps bringing up the accusation of color touch as he’s offended that he would be falsely accused of such a thing. While ignoring the fact that he blatantly lied to PayPal about receiving the book and having a working tracking number.

Is he saying that he still has the book or not? I'm a little confused on that aspect.
According to eBay, the book in question “sold” and the buyer now has positive feedback for the book so one would assume he no longer has it.
However, in one of the buyer’s screeds that the OP reposted, the buyer challenges the OP about sending the book to CGC to prove it wasn’t color touched….which would seem to suggest he still has it.
So perhaps the “winning” bidder who posted positive feedback is actually a shill account or a buddy. I guess that’s why the buyer is so freaked out about returning it: even with over-grading and shilling he still couldn’t push the book past what he paid for it.
The fraudulent claims he made to PayPal to try and force a refund is what troubles me the most.

With Fixed Price consignments, you have a year and then you have to decide if you’re going to a) move them to a MCS auction, b) pay the freight to have them shipped back to you, or c) pay the MCS storage fee.
Question for those who are experienced at consigning with MCS:
Have you ever decided to have consigned books sent back but instead of having them sent back to you, you have them sent directly to another venue, like ComicLink?

Sadly, the Boards could play a game of Mad Libs and probably guess 95% of the puffery that’s going to be in the coming “announcement”.
I’ll start:

”unprecedented growth”
”carefully inspected by Quality Assurance”

I would be interested in seeing Lynch Cut of the ‘84 film but I highly doubt it will ever happen.
It seems to me that this is a very different situation than the Snyder JL situation. As I understand it, Snyder was happy with the footage he shot it was just a matter of editing it together into the film he envisioned.
With Dune, in the past Lynch could barely even bring himself to talk about the film and even then the most he would say is that it was a miserable experience. So I’m kind of surprised that he’s even entertaining the idea.
But unlike Snyder, in the article Lynch says that a) he can’t remember most of the footage he shot and b) what he does remember of it he’s not happy with. According to Lynch, the artistic compromises weren’t just in the editing.
I have a feeling if he actually sat down and started going through the footage he would probably get disgusted all over again and walk away from it.

I want to thank everyone for the views and to those who claimed books. However, I don't think I'm really striking a chord with the buying pool here so I think I'll end the thread here.
I'll start sending out invoices to those who claimed books this afternoon and probably close the thread in a day or two.

GOLD KEY STAR TREK
Since there hasn't been a lot of interest in these in the past, I'm not going to belabor these listings with a lot of detail.
Generally, these are issues I probably should have returned but talked myself out of it. For most of these, the outstanding defect is rust at the staple(s), otherwise they're pretty nice copies. I'll note any other really significant defects. If you need more detailed condition information feel free to ask.

Question about consigning with Heritage:
I was contemplating consigning a couple of items and noticed a reference to a “minimum value” but couldn’t find and specifics about what that minimum actually is.
Any idea on what that is or where I can find it on the site? (Was looking to consign a couple of first edition books)
I’d like to know before I start the process of contacting on of their experts.

Excellent as a quick reference, but heavily SF, unfortunately.
Have that one in my bookmarks on my desktop computer. Great resource!

Kind of off-topic but, without giving up any “trade secrets”, what book(s) would you guys recommend for information on collecting vintage paperbacks?
I know that sounds like kind of a dumb question, but I’m up on the books I’m actively searching for, like John Wyndham firsts.
But there’s times when I’m searching for stuff and I’ll see something that’s not in my focus but seems like it might be something worthwhile…but I just don’t know. I would like to get a more rounded-out knowledge of paperbacks beyond just the sci-fi stuff I usually look for.
There’s been a couple of books that have popped up as suggestions when I’m doing searches on Amazon for other things so thought I would ask here.

On 2/22/2022 at 5:31 AM, Surfing Alien said:Thanks. If your 115 doesn't have an eyeball keyhole on the spine, it is either an error or maybe Canadian or something. They moved the eyeball to the top of the spine around this time - erratically as you can see (that's 115 at the far left - glare obscures the top a little). But they kept it on the spine until somewhere in the upper 400's or early 500's. I don't have enough in that range to pinpoint it better.
This post has me looking for things I would have never given a second thought to before.
Wife and I were going through a bookshop yesterday while on vacation and spotted these.
Didn’t buy as they’re all beat and not really in my wheelhouse, but all have the eye-in-keyhole on the spine though the design varies on the cover.

In case anyone is interested:
Zavvi just announced that they’re releasing steelbooks for the two Peter Cushing Dalek movies in 4K in June.
They’re offering just the standalone steelbooks and as part of a deluxe package that comes with a bunch of doo-dads and gee-gaws.
No joke, I literally JUST paid $150 for the Blu-Ray steelbook of Doctor Who and the Daleks yesterday and then get this e-mail today. I’m ok with it as the Blu has original poster art and I’m always a sucker for that, but still winced a bit when I saw this.

About Me:
I have done deals with about a dozen board members. Here's my eBay feedback as a seller
..........
I've been fortunate enough to upgrade three of my first edition books and am attempting to sell the under-copies. As such, I'm merely attempting to get most of what I originally paid back. Therefore, I'm taking that price, reducing it by the amount that a venue like eBay would charge me in fees...AND I'm going to include Priority Shipping, insurance, and Signature Confirmation in the US as part of the price.
Please bear with me as it will take a few minutes to write up the listing for each book.
