  1. This postal employee should try actually going to the library sometime. Every branch has at least one shelf dedicated to "graphic novels" - which includes numerous serialized comic collections.
  2. No, not everyone, not even close. That assumption will prevent you from succeeding. Yeah. That's what it is. It's that assumption. To be fair, I didn't say that assumption alone would prevent him from succeeding. Clearly, that's just the tipy-tip of the iceberg.

  4. Seriously? It's Amazing Spider-Man 129 Here you go. Amazing Spider-Man 129 CGC 8.0 (insert page quality) First appearance of the Punisher THAT's IT! This is not rocket science. You don't need to talk about movie news or the story. Buyers of the book already know what it is. You're not trying to sell sand in the dessert. That's basically what I put on my listing but something must be missing if boardies are mentioning it. You might want to put a bit more than that. Title, issue number, publisher, grade, page quality, serial number if it's 3rd party graded (that doesn't always show up well even in scans), key elements such as 1st appearances, etc. Some would argue that creator credits - writer, artist, cover artist - is redundant and unnecessary but it could help lend the impression that you are at least marginally knowledgable about comics. And there are still - shockingly - some buyers who will purchase a book because a particular creator worked on it. Also, it's good to list your method of shipping, a bit of a description on how you pack (without going into excessive detail), whether you'll combine purchases to save on shipping, and what your return policy is.
  5. He should take the money and run. But I know he won't. OMG that offer is 5 minutes from expiration. He's really going to do it, he's really going to let that offer pass because he thinks he can squeeze a few more bucks off eBay. I guess I shouldn't be surprised but......
  6. Thank you for the information on Dan Dare, very interesting. My favorite Doctor Who stories are the ones produced by Philip Hinchcliffe. In more than one of the DVD documentaries he makes mention of Dan Dare as being an influence on his creative process for the show. In one, he makes specific reference to the Mekon, but I can't remember what it was in connection to. When I saw the Mekon images you posted it instantly reminded me of the Vogons for Revenge of the Cybermen: But I'm not sure if that's what he was referring to. But at least now I have a better idea of what Dan Dare is.
  7. Actually, I've been keeping up with it for awhile. And yeah, my suggestion requires Gabe showing a measure of self-control that thus far he has yet to display. So it's probably expecting too much. As far as the numbers...there was discussion about the difference in US and Canadian currency so I may have the amount for the ASM #129 wrong. And I thought the $1100 hole was pre-ASM but I may have lost track in the back-and-forth. So yeah, I probably should just delete my post.
  8. I never thought about a general caveat having this effect, but I suppose it could What about putting them on ignore, and then saying "No Probies, HOS members, or people I have on ignore"? Then, if a potential buyer wonders whether they are prohibited from buying in your thread, they can check by initiating a private message to you to see whether you have them on ignore or not. If not, then they know that they can proceed with the That's kind of what I was thinking - using the Ignore function as the least confrontational way to head off members you don't want to deal with. ( hopefully they're all aware of the PM test) I know when this has come up before some have advocated contacting the member(s) in question first via PM to inform them, but it seams like that would stir up a lot of drama for possibly nothing since you may not have - or ever have - anything they want. As far as stating the right to refuse in your sales terms scaring off customers - I suppose it could happen, but of all the sales threads I've seen with that clause there's only been one that actually gave me pause. And even then, he invited members to contact him first if they were in doubt.
  9. I think I've only seen a couple of Colin Baker stories, I wasn't real impressed with either. But I think that could be attributed largely to the quality of writing, JNT's overall influence on the tone of the show, and that clown costume which is impossible to ignore. If I focus on just Baker's performance, I agree, I actually like his portrayal of the Doctor.
  10. It may be that he has a preference for unread copies and a) had it been a copy from your personal collection and b) you could then say for a certainty that it was in fact unread he may have bid more aggressively for it. In a way, it could be analogous to someone asking if a book has been pressed.
  11. I've never been a big fan of Star Trek:TNG in general and Wesley Crusher in particular. But having seen Wil Wheaton's appearances on Big Bang Theory and now this, I gotta say...I think I'm becoming a fan of Wil Wheaton. I know it shouldn't be a factor, but the fact that he's about my age and a fanboy - and thus probably gets geeked about the same things I do - I feel bad I didn't make more of an effort to like his character.
  12. Sheesh, it's not even new books either. It's the same stuff he had in a thread a few days ago...then split it all out into separate threads...and now mashed it all back into one thread again.
  13. I know the girl is gone and it sucks to make only enough to scrape by.... But please tell me at least that Ireland is awesome. My dad's family is Irish and it's been a long-term goal to vacation there, but I've always thought it would be cool to live there too. Please tell me I'm not totally delusional.
  14. The comic was manufactured that way. Someone with more knowledge of the printing process probably can explain it better than I can. But you can rest easy, your books have not been tampered with.
  15. Discounted shipping price, automatically loads tracking information. I can't prove it imerically, but I'm pretty sure when I switched to printing the shipping labels through eBay - as apposed to hand writing the address - my packages moved through the postal system a tad faster.
  16. Not only that, but he also initiated the transaction by sending the seller an offer (which the seller accepted) because he thought $12 to ship a CGC slab was 'too high'. But now wants instantaneous shipping. Blocked
  17. Initially, I had zero interest in this. But when my friend showed me the trailer yesterday and told me that the same team who did the recent Godzilla are involved and that there is supposed to be a tie-in with Godzilla at some point ....yeah, I'm hooked.
  18. The head makes me think it's something Microman related, but I'm not well-versed in the line so I couldn't say for sure.
  19. I like how the light rays in this poster shift from red to yellow to green. Kinda reminds me of the original poster for ST:TMP..... ...makes me a bit a nostalgic.
