  1. My only sig book, just realized it's the only 9.8 signed by the late great Mr. George Perez!
  2. Thanks Ghost Town - I'm attempting to chase down you and Torchwood for best BA set. Getting there, tough! Where's that $@%!@$ 105 9.8?????? Regards
  3. Greetings and Salutations fellow collectors! About good ol' Fedex. I run a logistics company. I do not offer Fedex for my clients. USPS and UPS. They have their faults for sure, but FedEx, I'll just say I don't use them. From my understanding Fedex Ground(which I believe is CGC's preferred shipping method) are sub-contractors. They have defined areas and distribute packages for FedEx. They are not FedEx employees. Like other businesses they have difficulty finding workers, and when they do, if they are good at the job or not, is another issue. That being said, several times I've had packages scheduled for delivery on a certain date. More times than not, they do not make it. The reason is, Business is closed or unavailable. ITS A LIE. Either thy don't have enough help to make the run, not enough time to complete without having to pay more $(Overtime), or not enough packages going that way to make the trip profitable. So to keep the bosses at FedEx happy and to meet delivery requirements, they say business is closed or unavailable. Covers their . Satisfies some metric. I get it, but it's still %#^%#. CGC's policy is sound and reasonable. I choose to use FedEx(default) as to providing my own UPS shipper information because I had to do some other verification and I was in a hurry and too lazy. My Bad. I'll take care of this before my next submission. Other collectors may not have this option. Regardless, no matter what carrier, if you are not using a shipping method/carrier with guaranteed delivery, it's going to happen. Like when u go to the drive thru and they ask you to pull around because you can't wait at the drive thru because they have to keep up to some kind of false metric. But I digress.
  4. I've been listing my collection for sale on Ebay. While going through books, I've found a few rough, coverless books that I thought what the heck, and took a pic and listed for $.99. Friggin things have been selling with multiple bids. What am I missing? Coverless books???? Not like they're keys(FF48, FF66, AV58)
  5. I'm curious as to how specific comics with a particular theme or type are officially determined. If official at all. I know I've seen some noted as such but am interested in learning about these more. How many different themes/types of covers are there "officially". What/who determines if they are noted on a graded book? Some of these themes/types I know of off-hand are Bondage covers, Infinity Covers, Picture frame covers, Hitler covers, Atom Bomb covers, and my personal favorite Floating Head covers. They encompass all ages it seems, perhaps a thread to showcase each? I believe there is already a picture frame thread. A sample of Floating Head and Picture Frame covers Regards
  6. A couple of Suscha News pedigree copies for the collection.
  7. Though not unexpected, shock and loss at his passing. Like many others, George Perez was my favorite artist. Why is obvious, not many had the attention to detail as George had. From Avengers, to FF, to NTT, WW and Avengers again! Wow. Thank You! RIP George. I respectfully post my favorite cover by the best, the late great Mr George Perez!
  8. So, kinda $#^#ed off on losing an auction. I had thought when bidding on Comiclink, when outbid, auction was extended like 15 minutes or so, now it appears to be like 15 seconds. @$@^#$@$%@$ Am i wrong about this, if not, when was the change? I don't remember having to worry about sniping before on Comiclink. Live and learn. Perhaps I'm just crazy
  9. Greetings, No offense to anyone, to each his own, or "one mans trash is another's treasure" Al Milgrom, IMHO, ruined many comics I enjoyed with his pathetic artwork! He was at a LCS signing many years ago as I was picking up my books. When asked if I wanted him to sign anything, I replied, "No Thanks, because your art sucks". I'll never forget the look on his face, but I imagine it wasn't the first or last time he heard that. Regards
  10. We've all heard this type of story, When I was a young boy 12-13, and dad realized I read comic books and said "I read comics as a kid too, but Granny threw out dad's comics", I thought, ah man, that sucks. Not that a young boy was interested in GA, EC, etc. books from the late 40' and early 50's, it would have been awesome to be gifted these to read and sell/trade for books I did (Marvel SA, BA) but alas, wasn't meant to be. So I thought to myself, I'm keeping all my comics, so my child would be pleased to have his old mans comics, to read and sell/trade for what he liked. Sounded reasonable. Fast forward 40 years and I buy my son comics to read to spark interest and to help with reading skills Sponge Bob, Scooby Doo, kiddie Spidey and Supe books. He get's a little older, is reading school books, etc. and I comment, you know I have like 50+ long boxes of comics you can have to read if you'd like. He's not interested in them at all. Comics just can't compete with the movies, X-box, and YouTube I guess. Disappointed for sure, that my plan didn't come to fruition but also that I felt as though my boy was missing out on the magic of comics. I don't read/collect moderns too much, but do continue to collect HG slabs of keys of and books I love. Extra cash would be nice to continue this pursuit. That being said, It's been hard coming to grips will selling bulk of collection. I love em. Not to mention the time and effort it's going to take, years I'm sure. Sell single books, lots, slab and flip, who knows how it will play out. Perhaps I should have been doing this all along. Won't sell all to 1 buyer because I don't feel a buyer can/will pay a fraction of what books are worth, that's cool and I understand. Should do OK as I collected primarily Marvel super hero books and have large runs of them. Also, it seems as though it is indeed a sellers market. Regardless, if I sell a book for $5 that I paid a $.25 for that's a win right. If someone buys book and it goes up XX in the following years, good for them, I got mine not they can get theirs. Not greedy, just don't want to give them away. I guess I should be happy, and I am, that while getting rid of bulk of collection, I can pursue other books and interests and still participate and enjoy hobby I love dearly. It's still hard though. Wish me luck Regards
  11. Here's my disappointment. My own fault I guess as I was ignorant as how to ID trimmed book.
  12. It's very nit picky and is a BIG pet peeve of mine, perhaps I over react. That being said, I like to browse books on Ebay searching by age(Golden, Silver, Bronze, etc.). It sucks that I have to browse through books that are obviously not from that particular age, to find those that are. Search results return 312 matches, but only 1/3 match search criteria. I get it, Modern FF book will get more exposure when listed as a Silver or Bronze. That or sellers are oblivious or just ignorant as to what age a comic actually from. Perhaps just a simple error. I believe it's primarily a marketing ploy. I won't buy a book if it's not listed properly. I've found books I've wanted, listed incorrectly, and I won't purchase them either(out of pure spite for sure). I'll just wait to find book later. If I don't oh well, can't win'em all. How do other buyers feel and what about other listing pet peeves? There's not many right?
  13. Greetings, I've been burned several times buying so-called high grade silvers. received books, but when graded, found to have been trimmed.(Avengers 53 and Flash 140) . To say I was disappointed would be an under statement. Didn't fall for the "you get what you pay for" trap. Paid FMV for these books, just wasn't aware of trim. Not saying dealer was either. Purchased a IH181, received book, was missing MVS, but since my skills could detect a CUTOUT from a page, returned book for a full refund. Perhaps it's my own fault for not having knowledge of how to ID trimming, restoration of books upon receipt Then perhaps I could have address with seller. Any tips on identifying trimmed and or restored books would be appreciated? Regardless,, it's led to be extremely hesitant to by so called HG raw books. Which is a shame as I like to actually read the book(would'a thunk it) as opposed to buying slab, crack, read and re-sub- No! Guess I could settle for a reprint, again -No. Regards
  14. Wow, didn't realize there appears to be healthy market for comic cards. I've got some 92 MM, as well as unopened box I see goes for about $500. I'm sure I have a bunch of promo cards and I seem to remember a gold Wolverine. I've got some Return of Superman and Warriors of Plasm as well. Know about PGC and know they graded cards, does CGC Grade them now or is PGC they way to go if selling? raw market? Hmmmm......Where are those dang cards at!
