Hello, Two posts on same day, I must be board(bad pun) I've got about 200+ slabbed CGC comics, I've read everyone before slabbing or buying the slab. My curiosity is this. How may collectors have actually read the issue of the slab they have? Not actual slabbed book, but same issue. Regards

Greetings to all, We've all seen the post of great buys, garage sale finds, etc. But let's here about some of those books you passed on, or had a one time and somehow/someway are no longer to be found, I've got 2 really good one's, I'm sorry to say. Both are from the 70's (because I'm old!) My great-great aunt, would take me to a shop in the south suburbs of Chicago. Basically an old warehouse with dingy lighting. I can still remember the smell of the old books upon entry:) Awesome. The dealer was mostly and old pulp/paperback guy, but he had a bunch of comics. Some keys he'd have on a rack in by his work bench. I'd take my $5-$10 bucks and looks through his boxes of comics picking out those for I'd say went for between $.25-$.75 cents. That's what I focused on anyway/ Ken, the dealer offered the to sell me a book for the low, low price of $200. I think he was sweet on my aunt. I'd roll my eyes and respectfully pass. Why would I want and crappy old comic and why would I spend $200 on it. If I had $200, I could buy a boatload of more recent and in my young mind, way cooler comics. That and the fact my would STILL be sore for the whooping I got for spending $200 on a silly comic book. The book, AF15! Didn't pay attention to the grade because I didn't even go to look at book, but it doesn't matter now. On the way to a family reunion, we stopped at a Stuckey's for some food. Upon exiting I noticed a Comic Book vending machine, only one I ever saw. I asked my dad for a quarter and vended one out, I just fell to the bottom(Like chips or candy do now) I retrieved it and we headed back on the road. We arrived at the reunion and the comic became a afterthought as I had some playing to do! As I aged few years, I often wondered what had happened to the book. Did the old man find it in his car and throw it out? Did i share with a cousin(s) who I'm sure had some comics themselves we all read? Didn't really collect comics, but would read and keep, share, trade those I had, however in the early years, possession and care of comics was quite frankly negligent. Book IH181 I'm sure there are many other books I missed out on but none I recall like these 2. Regards

Loved these as a kid and playing records on my cheesy turntable as I followed along. Good times! I've read post's here, and saw some discussion about CGC and noting "Record not Included". That being said, perhaps I missed it, but will CGC grade book WITH the record? Regards

Hello, Having read and done quite a bit of research, I decided to send some books for pressing. Took scans of all the books before shipment. No AF15 or IH181, but some valuable books, and quite frankly, books I really like. Books were sent, paid and received mid June. It's now 4 months out and I have no updates. Repeated calls and emails go unanswered. Cordial communication from me, yet no response. I am patient and understand pressing is a skill and there are many other orders this pressing service services. They may give priority to higher volume, repeat customers. Don't know. I just want to know my books are safe and will eventually be pressed. I WILL NOT name pressing service, But would like some input on how patient I should be and perhaps some guidance on how to proceed. Thank You Patiently waiting Regards

How Are Registry points Set/Calculated/Determined?
TheBigJ replied to TheBigJ's topic in CGC Registry
Sorry, dug further and found answer, Regards -
Hello, I couldn't find any info searching, however I'm ignorant (on many other things as well I'm sure) on how registry points for particular books are set/calculated/determined. There must be some algorithm or logic behind it right? Thanks for your time Regards

Hello fellow comic lovers, I would just like to say Thanks, and Salute all of the collectors of comics who have taken the time to care for their comics properly. As a collector, and aficionado( I guess) of graded books, I appreciate the beauty(yes) of comic art. Books 30, 40,50 + years old, still as magnificent and pristine as the day they were printed. Definitely reflected in the prices right! I won't drone, just wanted to show my thanks after having received a recent CGC 9.8 purchase, that was a beaut. Picture DID NOT do justice to the book. I'd submit a pic, but like I said, it won't do this book justice Keep up the good work fellow collector's - Cheers!

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I didn't takeout of the bag, figured the spine ticks and tear at bottom relegated this to a bag and board status. They all can't be gems!

Hello, Before I post and request adding/removing books from a particular set (specifically Avengers 92-100) in the correct thread, I have some questions about the set as it stands now, please. The set has Avengers 92-200 along with Avengers Annuals 1-3. I am currently trying to build my own set and have a question. My question is why the early Annuals and no Giant Size? GCD has dates for 92 as 9/71 and 200 as 10/80. If this is a/the "boundry" and Annual/Giant Size have dates of Annual 1 -9/67 Annual 2 - 9/68 Annual 3 - 9/69 Annual 4 - 1/71 Annual 5 - 1/72 Giant Size 1 - 8/74 Giant Size 2 - 11/74 - Continuing story from avengers 129 Giant Size 3 - 2/75 - Continuing story from avengers 132 Giant Size 4 - 6/75 - Continuing story from avengers 135 Giant Size 5 - 12/75 - Reprint Avengers Annual 1 Annual 6 - 11/76 - Continued between 153 and 154 Annual 7 - 1977 Annual 8 - 1978 - Continued between 178 and 179 Annual 9 - 1979 - Continued between 188 and 189 With all of that, I would think set Avengers 92-200 would also include Annual 5(although it's a re-print), Giant Size 1-5, and Annuals 6-9 I won't even get started with cross-over non-Avengers books during this period.(DD #99, Defenders #9 and #10, FF #150, etc.) as I have noticed other set's include these cross-over books. Don't mean to be a pain is the @#!%, just curious as to why this is. Thank you very much. Regards

Greetings fellow comic enthusiast's, Well it's been some time since a post, I've finally decided to come clean and hopefully, have a little fun! The XXX title is The Avengers. Have all but about 9 of the 1-402. Bronze age Avengers are my "love" as these babies led me to start collecting comics. 137 was my first, but not the last. Bought my first graded from Pedigree comics waaaay back. My registry set #93 is my original copy, which I obtained from a show in Houston via trade(Avengers 93-99) for 1st Punisher Limited series. In hindsight, worked out well for me, Need to get a couple of the others gradeda they're in pretty good shape. I've since learned of the ol' clean and press, so I'll give it a try. If it works as I suspect, perhaps a crack and re-sub of 93 is warranted? Thoughts? As I stated previously, once I began chasing graded Bronze Avengers I discovered I was not alone in this endeavor(or sickness). I believe both boardees Cheetah(who at one time had a Kick-@# BA Avengers w/price variants) and Sufunk had much more complete Avengers collections. Not sure what happened to Cheetahs set, but Sufunk is still up there. I followed some of Sufunk's posts and learned some things. At first(2-3 comics) I just bought the grade, not the book. But learned quickly. Needed White Pages, nice centering, Pedigree(perhaps). Didn't initially chase the re-print issues (136 and 163) and I know several of the books are a tough find. Dang movies didn't help either, however in my opinion the are awesome, but I digress. I decided to load several more books into my registry set today. I'll continue loading in the coming days/weeks. I'm in the top 10 now, perhaps when I'm done posting I'll have a top 5 set. We'll see. I've posted some of my books here, Not that great at pictures, working on it. Regards

Thanks for the WTTB's. Price manipulation was perhaps the wrong choice of words. Playing the cards close to the vest as I believe my bargaining power is diminished if a potential seller knew X book was a need as opposed to a want. Less likely to wheel and deal. Capisce? That being said, it's unlikely I'll complete my run anytime soon. There's 3 books from the run that have very low census #'s (1 or 2 9.8's) I've seen 2 for sale. 1 out of reach (for now), the other I was too %$$&ing cheap! I have never seen the other offered for sale anywhere, but it's out there. I'm patiently lurking, waiting for another. Valid point about more books coming on the market and prices going down. But it's taking forever! I'll keep trying and plugging along. FYI a poster to this thread is my "competition". Not sure they would consider me competition but others might. http://boards.collectors-society.com/images/icons/default/wink.gif The desire to share increases with participation .http://boards.collectors-society.com/images/icons/default/grin.gif
