I have zero interest in a rhetorical debate on this but I'll just say that I have no idea what you mean by this as creative expression doesn't usually have a specific "historical direction".

I think trying to assess a person's psychology from such a minimalist, arm's-length approach is not very constructive.

So no one else thinks that a 17-year-old girl producing artwork of that nature is strange? Not normal?

Jesus wept, gross...hand waiving away her possible victimhood because it doesn't match your own notions of what rises to that definition is certainly a choice - she felt manipulated enough, as did other women, to come forward to raise a red flag (often the ONLY recourse women feel they have when there isn't anything outright illegal, whether it was the right decision is a separate beast). Regardless of what societies 'allow' does not mean it is correct or just - the average age of consent in the world is 14-16 but I personally don't think that makes it right for an adult to be involved just because it's legal. Just because she sought him out first, or made spicy art, doesn't mean she should have known what was coming to her or is any less a victim. Maybe you would like to also question what she was wearing at the time when he decided to DM her?

Were people calling him a pedophile wrong, yes, and were there people who took it too far and harassed him online, of course (in that case he was a victim over a news/online cycle that overreacts and feeds into itself) but this nitpicking of the victim involved really evokes the tired & problematic myth of the perfect or ideal victim.

I don't think that happened.  And what I find to be an indictment on the state of internet culture is the current trend of twisting (or fabricating entirely) "facts" to fit an agenda.  But feel free to prove me wrong with a link to such a post.
Now what I have seen is on various message boards and subreddits is things like "posts denigrating the accusers will be removed."  (Different statement, obviously.)  And I just now looked on r/comicbooks, and what I see, and which anyone can go right now and fact check, is an 852 comment thread with a lot of posts echoing sentiments being expressed here and in support of Ed.  Those posts have not been removed and those posters have not been banned.  I think you'll be okay.

There are so many examples, I have trouble believing you never encountered one. I just gave you one of the most famous examples: The Central Park Five in NYC - a national story for years. I can cite you many many examples. Any attorney, especially prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys, can cite such examples - even just a civil litigator like me. I cannot believe that you are truly trying to deny the problems of wrongful convictions based on cross-racial eyewitness identifications or are ignorant of the many examples innocent people sent to jail based on bad identifications that ultimately are exonerated by DNA and other evidence, including confessions by the true perpetrators. What state are you in?

On this we agree: The young woman's decision to tell her story does not make her at fault for Ed's suicide.

I'd nominate the folks trying to blame the young woman for Ed's suicide. As far as I know, she did nothing that our Constitution does not explicitly protect and cherish. If she did, Ed could have sued her. He chose to end his life after blaming others for his own murder. Literally, he blamed others for murdering him and then he killed himself. That's not rational, and no one here should be aping such a sick comment. The guy clearly needed help. The tragedy here is he didn't get it on his own or apparently from his friends or family. We need to do a better job of helping people who are at risk of suicide.

I can say with certainty that, since ceasing to be a teenager myself, I have never tried to flirt with a minor.

Not all situations are created equal, we don't have to have an opinion on a matter that covers ALL instances of that topic. We are talking about Piskor here, that is the context, so don't going tossing in some random whataboutism regarding another person. Nobody is saying suicide is a good thing, or a good outcome.

A 16 year old that has been assaulted and harassed for years, for something out of their control, and who has not close to even maturing mentally is not equal to a well-off famous 40ish year old man who JUST started to feel consequences from his own actions (justified or not). Yikes.

The thing that kills me the most is this is a comic book collector forum populated by a bunch of middle age nerds. If anyone here thinks they haven't given off creepy vibes to a woman they were trying to flirt with....lol...carry on I guess

I'll be sure to let the friends and mother of that Trans girl in Oklahoma that killed herself after being mercilessly bullied  and raped by her father for years know that it was on her. I'll be sure to tell them how she took the easy way out.
Jesus the view must be great on that high horse of yours.

A family member was sexually assaulted when she was 16, by a man at her church. She told her priest and he said she was making it up to get attention. So she told no one else.
At 23 she finally went to the police. The guy actually confessed to doing it and was sentenced to 5 years in prison, SUSPENDED, if he went to treatment.
Stuff like that, my friend, is why women don't come forward sooner.
    Happens all the time.

Don't do that - don't be that guy who starts to throw the victims under a bus with absolute zero reasoning even if it is in the 'just asking questions, bro' framing (if you know any abuse victims IRL you know how common it is to NOT report at the time. I guess all the women I know who were raped had a 'motive' for waiting years before reporting).

There were MULTIPLE women who accused him of being a creep, including using his position in the industry to try to get sexual favours from them.

Ok, so I was not familiar with this publisher, but it looks like they publish...several dozen variants for each issue??? I wonder how many copies they're selling, to make it worthwhile? Very odd. I'm sure there's an audience, and I'm not one to yuck someone else's yum, but it seems like a weird AI prono pyramid scheme!

Edit to add: I dunno, having done more research, I think I'm going to have to buy a couple of these...

Saw a couple of these at the current Comic Link auction. At first I thought the art was ok but something seemed kind of off. When I looked closer I realized that it looks like her left leg was growing out of her howler for some reason. The composition is just really not put together in the right way.
