  1. Here's a nifty, seldom-seen Funny Picture Stories from 1937:
  2. I love those Fantagraphics books. If anyone has any early Popeye by Segar issues they don't want any more, let me know. As far as putting scans in the thread, part of why I thought links would be best is that you're going to get a vastly larger audience in the Marketplace, so for everyone's own sake, posting the books & descriptions there is probably wiser. That said, it's nice to see them without clicking through, so I'd say to each his own.
  3. Tougher than #3, you think? #2 is obviously tough, but prices on that book have increased enough recently that some supply has become available.
  4. Honestly, I don't know Actions well enough to answer. Adventures and Detectives have been my DC focus. I've got an Action #1, but other than that the next oldest Action in my possession is a #21 in Fair condition. I've been on the lookout for a nice 7, 10 and 13, but not carefully.
  5. I sold most of my Fox books a few years ago, and in retrospect I can't remember why. I didn't have very many, fewer than 10, and I guess I thought it wasn't going to be a set I ended up completing. Now I'm building my want list again. Those books from GreatEscape are right up my alley, as are the later Ramona Patenude covers.
  6. Action 13? Join the club. That book's tough and in demand. I see twice as many 7's as I do 13's. for you, though.
  7. Man, you're lucky. My books stopped growing years ago.
  8. Here's one of the most blatantly racist and offensive covers I've ever seen:
  9. If we can get Stephen to start posting scans of his personal collection, then MAN is this forum going to take off. We'd need a separate thread for Fantastic #3, of course....
  10. Terrifying Tales #12 in 6.0 Indian Warriors #8 in 8.0 GA LB Cole covers for sale
  11. Captain America 9, Captain America 73, Detective 10 FS Books for sale, link
  12. Action 105 for sale, high grade Action 105 link
  13. Ok, based on discussion in other threads I'm going to try this out and see what happens. -----edit: The original rules (printed below) were designed to make this thread extremely unobtrusive to an otherwise capitalism-free forum. However, if you guys would rather have scans and all that, fine. Majority rules.----- This thread is for LINKS to marketplace posts related to the sale of Golden Age books. If you're selling a GA book, post it in the marketplace like usual (with description, scan, price, etc), then come to this thread and post the link. No scans or lengthy written descriptions in this thread! (edit: unless you want to, apparently. It's a work in progress, I know). That all happens in your marketplace post to which you've linked. Don't treat this like $0.99 listing day on eBay and continually post/bump the same books over and over again. And with the formation of this thread, it's now especially gauche to use other GA threads to try and push books you may have for sale. Putting everything here will prevent forum pollution and keep our GA experience clean. I believe there's somewhat of a chicken/egg problem with selling GA books in the marketplace. Relatively few GA posters frequent that forum, because few GA books are listed there, because few GA posters frequent that forum, etc. If this inspires more GA sales, great. If not, this thread will (and should) sink off the front page and I apologize for the effort. I will now post a few examples of how this should work, based on existing marketplace threads.
  14. Would this be the toughest of the Quality keys? I'd say it has to be. It's one of the toughest keys to find period. I've found most later Feature Comics to be relatively common. Once Doll Man starts appearing on the covers I think circulation must've increased pretty sharply.
  15. I couldn't find an obvious thread to post this on, so I'll put it here. Feature Comics #27, 1st Doll Man. Tough book.
  16. What do you suppose is the most recently printed comic that has a blacksmith on the cover? Might this be it?
  17. Another Funny Picture Stories. Centaurs consistently had some pretty high quality Western material. Some of the early centerfolds are fantastic.
  18. I wouldn't know, because that's one of the issues I'm missing. PM me if you want to make a nice profit on it.... And I agree, you should crack that sucker and check the tryout story out for yourself! Plus it'll provide more fodder for the "Bob Kane: hero or fraud?" argument currently raging.
  19. Whiz #18 is a phenomenal cover, and yours has nice eye appeal. Good job!!
  20. To keep the thread from dropping off the page... I've got dozens more unposted. At 2 a week I'll be done well into 2007.
  21. Nice! I love the shading on the Adventure Starman covers. A real underrated run stuck between Flessel Sandman and S&K Sandman.
  22. Here's another Bob Ryan cover from the same time period. Nifty, underrated stuff...
