  1. Yet again, misinformation from the Dr. Divad, you know as well as i do that the rule was written to prevent people from pulling funny stuff like changing prices, switching books etc. If a seller honors the auction terms (ie honors the hi bidder at auctiOn close) then there is no problem. It's not that the auction format breaks the rules, but rather the rules did not envision an auction format (which is a totally acceptable form of selling in any field) and just need a slight tweak. As long as bids are public and time/bids/books are honored there is no problems as far as breaking the meaning of the rule. See what I mean? Roy, Actually no, that is not why Arch wrote the guideline the way he did. There were auctions before - this is not a new idea. But you don't need to believe me - just ask Arch. As a comment to the general idea of auctions, I don't see their place here, but I don't really care either way. However, anyone imposing their idea of what the restrictions should be, is a bit over the top. As others have said, they're your books, sell 'em however you want. But I'll add - just follow the current guidelines. (whatever they may be) -d

  3. 5/20/08 PROBATION UPDATE The following Forum Members are currently on "probation" for failure to complete a transaction in good faith after one month's time: bronzejunkie (added 3/26/07) clobberintime (added 11/7/07) comicmankev (added 3/27/07) DarkKnight2K4 (added 4/24/08) donavan74 (added 3/27/07) Ghastly (added by majority vote 12/3/07) Henchman (added 4/25/08) Herald2Galactus (Inaugural Member & 1st "Hall of Shame" Member) Jmarch51 (added 2/14/08) Joker-Fish (added 8/9/07) Lighthouse (added 6/13/07) matewan1990 (added 3/3/08) Nascar (added 6/2/07) Old Man (added 12/7/07) Sid (added 8/8/07) SpiderJay300 (added 9/15/07) spongerob86 (added 2/21/08) Superman20 (added 12/18/07) THATONEGUY (added 1/11/08)
  4. That's how the old Yahoo Auctions used to work (and we know what happened to them).
  5. Actually should be a time limit, or sellers can just let it run till it finally meets a price they want. But that doesn't really bother me either. I never really understood why people care how many or what forums there are. If it doesn't interest you, then don't click on it. Seems easy enough to me. Totally agree, now that the Forum has evolved into a Zoo.
  6. When the seller accepts a price, and payment is made, possession is transferred - not a difficult concept. The real problem is that the auction concept flies in the face of the Forum Marketplace guidelines.
  7. Sold on eBay for twice as much. Generally what happens . . .
  8. There are at least two ways to get off the Probation List: 1. The offender can make good on their transaction with the offended party; or 2. The offended party can release the offender at any time for any reason that suits the offended party - even a simple apology will sometimes do. Obviously, this gets quite complex when the offender has offended multiple parties

  13. All of us, at one time or another, have posted a and then had buyers remorse or found something else that we wanted more. BUT, most of us take our transactions seriously and follow through on the buy. Personally, I had rather keep my word than save the $20! This pretty much sums it up. If you don't understand this, then you have some "growing up" to do - regardless of what your driver's license says.
  14. I think he's another age-limit poster boy.
  15. btw, BH - I still think it's tonystarkfan posting with that avatar of yours . . .
  16. It should be by PM or in the discussion thread . . . where this question belongs
