  1. Pay Seller Now, Sweeter words have never been spoken. So after 13 self-submissions, multiple pressings, of copies, purchases of large lots of this single book I finally have a copy of what had simply been the bane of my collecting focus, X-Force #1 the 1st print. For years since I became a member of the CGC addiction I have hunted this one book down and constantly lost out due to last second snipers or the simple inability to find one myself. This one book has cost me more money than I would like to truly admit. One of the hardest issues in getting this one book in 9.8 condition is that almost all of them are still poly bagged. This creates an issue as the bag itself causes a crease from top to bottom on the back cover and if multiple copies of this book have been placed together, then on the cover as well that regardless of pressing never seems to go away. Additionally if the book hasn't been messed with for years the cards that were placed in the poly bag's also caused little rectangle creases as well. Then when looking for books out of the poly bag they always seem to be in 9.0-9.4 condition with slight creases, nicks, stubs or any other issue that can be thought of. But finally... FINALLY, have been able to not only acquire a 9.8, and not only a 9.8SS but a 9.8SS signed by Fabian Nicieza which is my first signed book by him. My hunt while temporarily over will most likely be chanced at Amazing Arizona when I go to make this one a double signature book signed by Rob Liefeld. Until then though my search for a 9.8SS of this one book is finally over. I'll hold onto my double cover 9.6SS but I guess I can finally let go of the other lower grade books now. Anyways, here's the money shot... To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  2. They cut allocations to LCSs to my understanding pretty heavily. Here around a Military base that issue usually sells really well but my LCS is having a drawing for which subscription guys are getting it as they are not getting enough for pull lists.
  3. You kill me every time you show that one off....
  4. Allred's art makes me want to put a bullet in my mouth while trying to swallow a bottle of cyanide, strapped to a missile, having been launched at a volcano with an impending meteor moments from crashing on the Volcano where upon Aliens are about to go Independence Day on it...So yeah, I don't like his art much.
  5. So you are saying we need Dana Carvey to supply us with disguises? Exactly!! Anyone doing subs on both? I'd like to grab both -- but trying to keep from getting hit over the head. I know, there's a witness on site, but I checked over in the Sig Series thread and no mention of anyone facilitating this. If anyone is in the area and subbing both, I'd be interested in one. Dre are you picking up books for SS there?
  6. You kind of answered your own question. If you send the book for Neal Adams signature you are basically asking for the remark sketch and not the signature itself. The remarking comes with the signature and thus what you are paying for. When I ask an artist or writer for a remark they don't remark without the signature they do both. So the way you go about it is paying the additional fee that it will require for the sketch/remark to both the facilitator and the creator.
  7. The real Grail is having him actually deliver it... Can't deny his work though. Absolutely amazing cover.
  8. Not really. Any conversation deemed inappropriate or in violation of board rules may be removed. In that respect the PL forum is exactly like all others. I understand, but I was thinking more narrowly of due process. Where both parties are Board members their transactions and their disputes are (by rule) allowable in the PL forum, at least in principle, no? The way that post read was like an editorial. And no invoking of CGC personnel in the title would help. What we need for a PL nomination is just facts: Dates and transgressions plainly but simply stated. JuniorMC or whoever he was that had an issue posted the entire run down and time line but like the last time he did it his posting and issue went poof.
  9. +1 If you go back and read the first post, the "One of a Kind" portion refers to a book being the only SS book of that particular issue on the census. If a book is the only SS book on the census, then it's automatically the top census copy for Signature Series. However, if there are other copies, but your copy is the only one in the highest grade for that issue, then it still qualifies. In this case, "One of a Kind" specifically excludes sketches, inscriptions, manufacturing defects or a multitude of other things (like double covers) that may make a book unique, but still doesn't make it the lone top census copy. The census dictates what fits in this thread. I hope that helps. Like a Soldier deploying a Claymore, I see the light, I see the light I see the light...
  10. Probably just some kind of glitch. It seems to happen when certain key words are used. Yes like, "DWC", "screwed", and my favorite, "me over", apparently. Not to mention phrases like, "Taking CBCS submissions at the same time as CGC." Just a small statement though, I have no dog in this fight and just like to pour gas on fires simply to appease my urge as a pyromaniac.
  11. You should know better than that, this is obviously not the place where you make a valid claim of a facilitator being negligent on something probation worthy and hope for it to stick...
  12. Did you really think I was going to go back 349 pages? I don't like going back a page.... But yeah, just wanted to help the guy out... Gonna go back to DWC bashing now...
  13. It does say ONE OF A KIND or lone top census CGC SS books If it's the only double cover 9.8SS it certainly qualifies for the ONE OF A KIND part? Or maybe I'm wrong as well...
  14. Extremely hard for me to limit it down to five and will probably change following a few conventions this year but here goes: 5) Artist: J. Scott Campbell (Pencils) Sabine Rich (Colors) Reason: It's J.Scott Campbell and because this commission introduced me to Sabine Rich. I really need a better photo... 4) Artist: Stuart Sayger Reason: Hard to appreciate it without seeing it in person though, also has been graded and some how became a 9.8SS??? 3) Artist: Rob Liefeld Reason: The guy created my favorite character so it gives him a few bonus points in my eyes. Already got something in the works that will replace this and maybe raise Liefeld up on my top 5, more to follow. 2) Artist: Salvador Larroca (Pencils) Scott Hanna (Inks) Sabine Rich (Colors) Reason: Something about it is just elegant to me. Sabines Colors are amazing and Salvador an Scott really brought out the newer version of Cable with this one. 1) Artist: Stanley "Artgerm" Lau Reason: This really is one of those corner stone covers for me and has yet to have seen the inside of a box. It's displayed in my Man Cave along with a few others. Something about Cable looking down on his daughter and how Artgerm really made this one come alive for me makes it a top seed...for now. Honorable Mention: Ed Tadeo And one in the process right now with a few additions being done at ECCC... Jam piece homage to Jim Lee using the characters from X-Force Messiah War. So far: Freddie Williams II - Stryfe and layouts Steve McNiven - Wolverine Rob Liefeld - Deadpool Layout view
  15. Collected before it was popular... Currently only signed copy on the census.
  16. True... Was one of those collecting sore spots I guess. I love that no one has ever asked me to get something signed by him for them.
  17. Sorry your right she did the colors... I guess she was the one that helped Mike apply the eye shadow to every character.
  18. Writing or art it was still a *spoon*ty Allred that created it. Just happened to be the female that time... Edit... Sorry, chip on the shoulder after a hell of a day...
  19. In my youth I was addicted to all things Schwarzenegger related and didn't understand much about the mechanic's of firing a minigun with one arm. To me I didn't really care for Liefeld's proportional standards because I thought only bad *spoon*es had giant muscles and guns bigger than there friends. To this day I could care less how the heck someone draw's feet as its not exactly any part of what I pay attention to and still believe those who pay so much attention to them have this huge foot fetish... But honestly I loved the amount of detail put into pages. Then when Capullo took ahold of X-Force it reenforced why I loved the series and Tony Daniel was no different. I loved the idea of black ops without the idea of fighting Cobra just to detain them so they could be set free a week later. X-Force was my series I guess as many others have one. Vol 3 was awesome and I have no idea what the hell is going on with this current series but in my youth I was a diehard fan. So for someone to take something like Cable kill him off and replace him with some goofy looking *spoon*tards I absolutely hated it.
