  1. AMC will be streaming the episode live via their website on Sunday night. You may have an issue being behind an IP address in England but to get around that just find a free proxy server out of the United States and the website will think you are in the USA and you will be able to stream it live. It turns out it's not actually a week I'd have to wait as it airs over here a week yesterday. I should be able to wait five days to watch it in HD on the 'big' screen, but no doubt I should be able to get to watch it on the TV Monday. I don't know if this applies to you across the pond, but I but the episodes on my Xbox. A season pass is like 25 bucks or so. It was a great deal last year when I helieve they extended the season. Can't wait to watch it tonight!
  2. Not sure if you mentioned this, but did you press the books prior to submitting them?
  3. I've seen people comment on this before. They really want newsstand copies generally. It seems to be a niche market though and I've never seen a huge price difference between the two. I could care less.
  4. Yea I'm sorry to hear you didn't land a 9.9! I thought for sure you'd get one. It was interesting to see how poorly comics get treated. Thanks for sharing.
  5. You know my daughter is starting to get interested in Archie comics. I thought it'd be a good read, but every time I see covers there is some sexual theme or innuendo that I'm not sure it is a good book for her...
  6. And now, we've gone from "waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too much" to simply "crazy money": http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASM-Amazing-Spider-man-678-1-50-Venom-Variant-CGC-SS-9-8-Stan-Lee-1-1-/160888133279?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item2575ae169f&ssPageName=RSS:B:SHOP:US:101 K. Why buy a Walking Dead 1 in CGC 9.9 when you can buy that. Jesus Christ. Looks like he got lucky also getting a 9.8 since his other two newly listed books are 9.6 Yikes, anybody know if it's a boardie? That is crazy- I wonder if they could get anything close to that.
  7. As a cursive writer, those all look pretty similar. Which one do you not think is the same? Bottom right-hand "S" seems to have a different line to the left, with a pronounced curve. The others all have a straight line to the left. Am I seeing things from reading too many comics? Yea but the S is very similar to the others. They all seem to have a different quality that isn't consistent. Like the middle one on the left- The angle in the S isn't as sharp and has more curve. The bottom one on the left the V ends much lower than any other of the others. The top left the S doesn't have an upper loop. The bottom right the D starts much higher. These all are just the eye of a teacher who looks at handwriting all the time. I'd say they all are the same signature though. Sign your name 10 times in cursive and see how similar they look. I'm always amazed how mine looks the same, but then at the same time there are distinct differences too. I'd say Ditko's is pretty darn close in each.

  9. 10?! That is a lot- are you just submitting them to CGC trying to get 9.8 and 9.9s or something? Nope, bag & board them, put them in the short box with the others. is 10 really a lot? To the one copy I buy it seems like a lot, but I'm not judging. We each collect in our own way...

  11. Wow that is some crazy stuff. That cover isn't even that special. I'm surprised it is creeping up so high... Man two weeks ago they were selling these for 30 bucks a pop at the Baltimore Con. That is a sweet cover though and I bet these continue to go up. Thank you Beachbum for the 9.8!
  12. And I just bought a first printing for 12 bucks on ebay so I just can't see a 2nd printing going up that much. Now we will see if the first print is actually a 1st print. I'm always worried about that.
  13. Do you think it is still as solid of a read? I recently dropped it after pulling it since pretty much its inception. It just wasn't pulling me in anymore. That might also explain the one drop in sale on number 1. People might be afraid it isn't going to stay consistent and interest will wane.
  14. You can still find the 1st printing on ebay pretty easily. I would imagine the only way an additional print might be worth something is if it is a 9.8. Most collectors don't want 2nd and 3rd printed books.
  15. So I take it from this thread that this is a good book?
  16. Why do people want to see this book drop off so badly? This is great for the industry and has sparked a lot of interest. Anything that is good for comics is good in my opinion! (thumbs u I hope the bubble keeps on bursting
  17. Got a nice CGC copy of the first part of Kraven's Last Hunt. Book looks good and was packaged well. Thanks!
  18. Thrawn Trilogy is outstanding! I couldn't put them down and would strongly recommend them. If Lucas ever makes 7, 8, and 9 like I think he will, he already has his plot. Great books! I have a friend who really likes a bounty hunter series. Be careful though and check up on books before purchasing. There is a ton of garbage out there.
  19. I was recently reading Clash of Kings but for some reason it just didn't suck me in like Game of Thrones did. I found the recent James Bond book Carte Blanche bargain priced at Barnes and Noble over the weekend. I love the Fleming books and am interested to see what it is like. It got hammered on the Amazon reviews, but people never like new stuff.
  20. That is pretty cool! I was thinking about getting the Ditko head logo. Like this:
  21. Oh man the thread is over! This is some entertaining stuff.
  22. I've read through this thread, but maybe I missed it. How did you manage to fine the boxes from the distributor that had never been opened? I've seen long boxes filled of some of those early 90s comics people thought they'd get rich off of, but I've never seen boxes directly from the distributor unopened...
  23. That would be buying for a 'quick flip' NOT investing over the long term. This book will NOT; in my opinion, hold its value within three to five years after the last episode of the show airs. Like I have to tell most people who read my posts dealing with speculation; time will tell. Anyone who wants to make a quick flip on this book may do well buying raw, pressing, and getting it graded; for immediate sale. Of course, with CGC turnaround times, the bubble may burst by the time you get the darn book back to sell! What is funny about speculative bubbles is that when you are in the 'bubble' no one sees anything but dollar signs and 'rose colored glasses.' It is the people who go against the grain who are attacked, called names, and ridiculed. Then the bubble bursts and everyone says; hey remember that guy who said this would happen; now there is a genius! I think the issue with this is how low print the first few issues of the series were. That is not something that can be replaced. Supply and demand is a very real thing. Interest may wain a bit sure, but you can't replace the fact that there are so few issues out there. I think the first issue is going to hold its value. I could see it dropping slightly, but just not that much to make it be worthless. Where I do think the bubble will burst is on non key issues of the series. The fact that random issues are going for a lot of money seems off to me.
  24. I got a nice book from James. Came very quickly and looks great! Thanks a lot.
  25. Yea that's a great book too. I loved how they made GG involved in organized crime early on. It was why the Hobgoblin worked so well later. I have an awful copy of that book I bought a few years ago. At the time it was my earliest copy of ASM.
