Regarding the mystery . I woke up this morning with a PM from the person. We discussed his offer at length. I explained that it appeared he was really trying and discussed what may or may not happen. I think he just wanted to think about it a little more. I'll leave it up to him how he wishes to proceed. But thank you for the positive words of encouragement David. Definitely appreciated. Harvey's being great and protecting my identity but I wasn't trying to make it a big secret, just was away all day and not back until now...but yes I did post a quick "I'll take it" and offer early this morning...but then I wondered, as it was all non-comics, and that movie poster is huge...if it would find a market or slow things down after such an awesome offer of FF and JIM books.

 

So I quickly pulled it and sent it to Harvey and then another thread regular to get their opinions. As it was going to be my first non RAK I wanted to do well so I just felt I should prescreen...

 

Anyway, I think the stuff I was going to offer is really cool and I hope people agree...if so, I'll try again at another time. If not, I'll keep looking and keep on RAKin!

 

But last thing I wanted to do was grind things to a halt or anything which is why I wish I'd just gone to Harvey before even posting it at all for the 10-15 minutes it was up early this morning.

So what's the precedent here?

If we claim something and it's suggested our follow up offer will get a veto, instead of getting a strike we can rescind the offer, unless the veto comes within a few minutes of us retracting our offer or of course if people just don't like you?

Why is retracting an offer even allowed at all anyway? If you post a bad offer take your lumps like others have and will. Or I guess we can have a system that gives free passes to some people who get tips and warnings before the original offerer gets a chance to post the veto, I guess that's fair too.

It has been brought to my attention, that my offer might not be quite up to par. I don't think I really have anything else worth adding to "sweeten the deal", so I am going to rescind my on the ASM 50.

 

I have been watching this thread for a while, and I would hate to be the nail in the coffin, so to speak.

 

I will keep my eye on the thread, and look out for something of lower value next time.

Agreed…the only reason anyone on here rescinds is to avoid the strike, plain and simple.

 

It should either be rescind and you get a strike or rescind and nothing else happens.

Ya the only reason to rescind is to avoid a strike. I think the option to rescind an offer needs to be taken off the table entirely. If you post it, it stays up until someone claims it or it gets veto'd.

If this doesn't result in another strike after you got one for doing the exact same thing somethings a bit wrong here.

I have not had the opportunity to see Meeklo’s offers, but I did not like this.

 

Anyway, I do not agree at all: Meeklo after some thought rescinded the "takeit", so Andrew’s veto should not apply.

And if 1Cool had PM'ed Meeklo telling him - "sorry Meeklo, I thought about it and I think I'm going to have to use a veto" and Meeklo beat him to the punch with his rescission of his offer...

I'm with vallant, maybe for slightly different reasons. I think your outburst and trashing of Meeklo's offer could have influenced 1Cool much more than he may have been otherwise.

If someone wants to use their veto let them make their own decision.

Or you could just offer up the "popular" option.

My interest in this thread is decreasing on a daily basis.

I didn't wake up early enough for the great debate But I have and I want to throw them in. Better late then never.

It was sort of glazed over but I don't think it really hit home. The main issue I have with people saying "That's great I'll claim it in 48 hours" is that they are effectively posting their in advance forming a waiting list of sorts. Yes someone eligible to claim something can come in earlier of course, but it is still a subversive I'll take it in advance.

Someone can also just privately PM their intention of taking something, as was mentioned, so it's probably neither here nor there, but the intentions of the thread are that you shouldn't normally claim something more than once a month. By encouraging someone to not change up their offer you can exploit that rule pretty regularly I'm betting with thinly veiled posts announcing your intentions of bailing out the offeror or by PM'ing them directly. That's a problem.

I understand why the 48 hour rule was added, I think it's a good idea, it helps keeps the thread rolling and fresh. But if people are going to exploit it I think it's better to not have it.

The blank came out 10/11 I guess? Sheltered is a modern Image series about 11 issues in. Goes up and down in speculative popularity. Occasional movie talk. Could be worth something someday, but I don't have patience. There were no Sheltered blanks produced, so I went with Punisher and a matching t-shirt on the main character as it sort of suits the character's personality.

I think it was you that sent me issue #1 of sheltered. Maybe it was someone else now I can't remember. It was really cool, I bought the first volume of the TPB and have been meaning to see if volume 2 has been published yet.
