  1. There are surely many great Marvel horror mag covers, but this one ranks near the top for me. Spectacular copy Jayman!
  2. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Savage-Tales-1-Conan-1st-App-of-Man-Thing-CGC-9-8-Man-Thing-1-CGC-9-8-/234359557542?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 I thought that Heritage sale might shake out more copies. Here’s a beauty.
  3. Thanks, I was absolutely thrilled when I got it a few years back. It’s a beauty and the glue has held together. I’ve never seen another example of the mailing box and didn’t know how excited I could be for packaging material until it came up.
  4. Most agree that the Early issues with interior work by so many greats and Frazetta covers are standouts, and I agree. My most prized from that era of so many fantastic issues may be the 9.6 #11 that I purchased from The Lions Den. I’m absolutely enamored with the prime Spanish artist’s era, and the 9.6 copy of #42 I have is a favorite.
  5. It may very well be. Of course, it was also used as the movie poster and album cover. It has to be the most universally recognized by a long shot.
  6. I don’t know if anyone had noticed, but Chris Achilleos passed away last month. If the name isn’t familiar to you, certainly some of these images will be.
  7. I’m still chipping away at the Help! run. Another Kurtzman humor mag that didn’t have long-term staying power. What other things did you want to see from Gathering Horror?
  8. It’s nearly the tenth anniversary of the start of this thread back when the mighty Oakman was just starting his Creepy run. After years of working to upgrade my own Creepy run to all 9.4 or better, here are the issues that continue to elude me, and the grade I have thus far: 2 9.2 5 9.2 13 9.2 18 9.2 20 9.2 32 9.2 53 9.2 66 9.2 85 9.2 146 9.2 1968 Yearbook. 8.5 Yep, that first yearbook is my nemesis, and lowest grade Creepy in my collection.
  9. I added another Enric pencil piece in December.
  10. Gee, this thread hasn’t seen any action in awhile. That’s a shame. I’m adding the pics of my Special hardcover and shipping box here for reference.
  11. Sounds great, Jimbo! I had just noticed that you put ow/w by them, so it made me curious. Thanks.
  12. Fantastic! Here are the issues that I would like to reserve. JULY 1992 9.4 OW/W SEPT. 1993 9.4 OW/W MAY 1995 9.4 OW/W MAY 1996 9.4 OW/W FALL 2000 9.4 OW/W SEPT. 2002 9.4 OW/W NOV. 2005 9.4 OW/W JULY 2009 9.4 OW/W SEPT 2009 9.4 OW/W MAY 2010 9.4 OW/W SUMMER 2010 9.4 OW/W FALL 2010 9.4 OW/W I am curious about the pq though. Are you seeing darker edges on the pages on these?
  13. I see several here that I can upgrade, so thanks for the advanced warning. I have a full set, and trying to get upgrades to make it all 9.4+. I have found this to be quite a challenge, particularly after the mid-90’s.
  14. What a spectacular haul! Congratulations on some great mags!
  15. Wow! Some great offerings, and some fantastic purchases. I wish I had seen this earlier!
  16. The Eerie is the first and only one in 9.8, but I would have expected this to be a $500 mag. I have the lone 9.6. Marvel Preview 2 has been on the rise, but this is a record by a long shot. It was a $900 book 14 months ago.
  17. I underestimated the hammer on this guy. Gets to $1,000 with tax and shipping.
  18. It is in fact speculated that the print run for the hardcover was set at 500 pieces. When these were delivered to Warren, they were dismayed to find that a large percentage ended up being unsalable. The ink used was very tacky, and the books were stuck together. You will notice on many of the copies that they did ship have small color pulls at various spots, most often in the logo. I’ve never heard an accurate number on how many copies they salvaged, but rumor had been about half. These were shipped in a cardboard mailer via direct order. They did not have a dust jacket, and yes, that’s something fan made shown earlier. I posted pictures of my box and copy earlier in this thread (pages 32-33).
  19. Actually, the IND stands for Independent News Distribution, the exclusive national distributor of Mad magazine starting in 1957.
  20. I have some interest in the Nightmare 15 if you have pictures of the front and back. Thanks.
