  1. The big fat stridex ad on the back is the easiest way to tell the reprint
  2. If I have to see reed vault that stupid railing one more time I'm going to scream. Is that the one and only scene they have of him stretching?
  3. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Thing's Thing This thread has taken quite a homoerotic turn. Hey now! I didn't say that above. Someone needs to learn how to quote. To make it less cumbersome I suggest the title of the upcoming film be: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Things. How about Fantastic Four: The search for the Thing (the Things thing that is)
  4. I do like the little joke about 'no containment suit necessary'. Containment suit my azz, why would any of them need one? And it still doesn't explain what happened to his kibble and bits. It's not the lack of shorts that has people wondering, it's the fact that no shorts reveals the genitalia of a ken doll. Where's his manhood? Floating around detached in the negative zone? I wonder if it will reappear as a villain in a future movie? The Fantastic Four VS the Things thing.
  5. I think most everyone is aware of that... maybe not, maybe there are some who aren't. I always considered the 'Ultimate' titles to be flash in the pan, speculation concepts, put together by Marvel because they were too afraid to do anything to 'risky' with their 'properties'; and only did a short term amount of business because the people they were aimed at were primarily the ones too lazy to read the original material and understand and respect it in the context it was created. It would comparable to someone, thinking Alfred Hitchcock's version of 'Psycho' was 'outdated' and instead wanted to create a new story for comics based upon the Gus Van Sant version. They'd be laughed at. They'd be laughed at. They wouldn't be taken seriously. Comics, even ground breaking, industry changing CLASSICS, still don't get the respect they deserve from the rest of the world. And I don't like it. I look at what Jack and Stan did with that original run as respect-worthy in a Hitchcock way or a Beatles worthy way, at the very least within the field it was created in, and so, to ME anyway... when I look at how this KID Josh Trank has approached it, by ignoring it for this LAME knock-off version, and the CLEAR DISRESPECT he has for the original material.... I will NEVER in any WAY, SHAPE, or FORM EVER SUPPORT it. I agree the FF movie will probably bomb which is good for Marvel to get the FF back, but sorry man sometimes you really come off that if the stories are not like your childhood then you completely shut down. You do realize that most of the SA comics are impossible to read anymore without being bored right? Ultimate FF ran from 2004-2009. Stan and Jack's FF has run from 1961 to 2015. Pick up any FF from the past 5 years and it obviously looks nothing like SA FF - it's been 'modernized' for lack of a better term. But the comic still has the same bedrock that Stan and Jack built (personalities/structure/style). I don't know about anyone else, but that's why I won't see this movie, it's just not the Fantastic Four. I disagree. Reed from Civil War didn't have any of the personality of Reed from the 1960s - 1980s. Like Tony Stark, they updated his personality and lost the original character along the way. About slutty Sue, I'm guessing that has more to do with comics that feature her with Namor, Dr. Doom, and Black Panther. Did she cheat on Reed during Civil War? Yep, I agree with you. When I read Civil War I remember throwing the book across the room in disgust. Luckily, the writers since then have been ignoring that (as much as they can). The two lowest points in FF history are Civil War and Ultimate FF. And what do they have in common? They changed the core characters. Looks like this movie joins the list. I don't know where Trank's slutty Sue comment came from. Since he knows nothing about the comics, he probably just made it up. I've been thinking about it, and you know where Sue was dressed up and acting somewhat like a slutty secretary? In the first two movies. She would wear those glasses, and proper clothes, but have that hot pink lipstick on, and her shirt open one button to many. He's basing it off the movies, and has probably never even read the comics
  6. What are peoples thoughts on this movie affecting the prices of FF books? Since the response has been pretty negative so far, it doesn't seem like there has been any kind of a movie bump in prices. So, WHAT IF, the movie turns out to be a huge hit(just assume that it will be for the sake of this conversation) do you think it will bump prices on silver age FF's?
  7. Interesting, I've never seen anyone do it quite like that before. Did you mark and measure the space before hanging them? You have some very nice rows, and a very uniform appearance, I would think that would be hard to do without marking things out first.
  8. The Thing spoke in this trailer and he didn't have a gravely voice. He just had the actors regular voice. It didn't seem to fit. The guys body gets turned to living stone, how can he have the same regular voice? In my opinion, the Thing is the heart of the FF, the torch is cool, but it's really the Thing that holds it all together, and is the most appealing of the bunch. I thought they captured the essence of the thing perfectly in the first two movies, the voice was right, the sense of humor and general attitude was spot on. Now if only he had not been a midget in a rubber suit it would have been perfect. I'm not seeing the Thing I know from the comics in these trailers so far, and for the last time, will they please put some shorts on him.
  9. Best trailer so far... Where do I turn in my FF Fan Card? Do you want me to mail it to you Chip? Agreed I'm feeling a little more optimistic about it now
  10. This is looking fantastically bad. I was hoping for a good thing, and this fraggle rock nutless version is not it.
  11. Will someone please get some shorts for the thing. And speaking of shorts, what the helll is reed wearing? Looks like his old Jr high school gym shorts, and some black leg warmers.
  12. Nice Jaster! Looks great for the grade! Congrats!
  13. 60? Come on, take it all the way to 100 When I returned to collecting I was just going to get 1-100, then I decided to go to 200, then to 300, then I wanted them all to current, after that it was one shots and miniseries, then I had to have all cross over appearances. Now that I have all that, I'm upgrading everything below 6.0
  14. Great find! Now the real treat is to find the actual original six-bottle case with the Terry comic still fasten around the bottles. That would make a good conversation point in your "man cave" room. (thumbs u That kid looks completely evil and demented. Why does the artist draw an extra set of nostrils at the top of their noses? Still cool though
  15. Dude that is so awesome. Would love one of those. Is this located in your Kitchen?
  16. "Understanding intercultural communication" For a summer session class I'm taking
  17. Look at this binder copy of FF 1 on ebay. Although it has been 3 hole punched, it hasn't been trimmed, and I think it is a sweet looking copy for the price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FANTASTIC-FOUR-1-CGC-F-VF-7-0-UNRESTORED-ORIGIN-and-1st-APPEARANCE-1961-/231569351842?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ea9be4a2 My FF 10 is a binder copy, and I put a thin color matching sheet of paper under the cover, and you can hardly see where the holes are now.
  18. did you mark it as shipped at least? If I bought an item, and for nine days I saw no update to it's status(not marked as shipped, or tracking number provided) I'd probably be annoyed too, but I wouldn't leave a neutral over it. As long as my item shows up eventually, and is as described, then I'm fine.
  19. I feel having the filled in background makes the main scene that much more poignant by contrasting their loss, with a scene of a happier time behind them.
