  1. Will be seeing it tonight, unfortunately due to scheduling I can only catch the dubbed version. Slap SHIN on any of these old properties and my butt will be in the seat without question!
  2. Just to clarify as well; this isn't even close to being a manufacturing defect, the color was never in the actual production art (as I cannot think of any situation that would result in print separations, or a digital rip, failing to print such a specific localized failure of color).
  3. Yeah not restoration, since it isn't actually covering a defect or 'restoring' anything...just a tiny blob of a sketch that so happens to fit neatly in the art that was never coloured correctly
  4. TOS39 is a decent book to get right now as price on it have been hit pretty hard, especially since he hasn't been in the MCU at this point for awhile so the short memory of many are focused elsewhere right now in specs (however you know it is just a matter of time before Disney wants to revisit that giant cash-cow and bring RDJR back for some multiverse cameo in some future movie which will get prices going crazy again). Long term this is one of the better books I feel just based on movie nostalgia growing over the next decade (also books like BB28, very cheap now and you know will be come relevant again plus more nostalgic for the Snyder collectors)
  5. Just from those pictures I can note three defects (pronounced fingerprints on back, back bottom left corner damage, and a bend top center front cover) and that would be enough to drop it down especially if there are other defects we are not seeing here.
  6. Possibly the least crazy thing to swear on...as there haven't been any issues with that book which has required the creation of rules for the separation of Comics & State after all
  7. Yup, they know so many celebrities who would bid a ludicrous amount on this for charity. Can't wait for the media cycle to cover this as "WORST MOVIE EVER WORTH 100K+" and spin it back to pumping up the VHS speculation market by concluding if the worst movie ever is worth so much graded than logically the BEST movies on VHS should be worth twice as much!
  8. Ironically the graded copy of Nukie they are auctioning will actually have legit, organic, interest from a wide range of people (not just speculators) and go for crazy big money! (at the time of this post it is currently at $76,100us)
  9. Yes, those are totally fixable (and honestly still happens to us all even after lots of practice), though for the exact steps and details I would recommend searching for some of the pressing groups on Facebook.
  10. Flaring, ie wavy pages or rippled covers, could result from a few things. Too much humidity in your humidity tank before treatment. Too little time pressed with too much moisture in it still, or even the opposite of too much time with not enough moisture. Too much pressure can also cause this (especially if you have not added in any insert protection layers into the books centerfold and inside covers)
  11. Most likely by request. Many people on the single pages group in Facebook ask them to reverse the page in the slab if it would put the better / more significant art at the front for display (as sometimes the page might have ads on the front but all the comic art on the back)
  12. Also sounds like they don't know how to grade or set realistic expectations. I buy directly from some contacts who have warehouse stock when i'm trying to source 9.8 books (Bronze & Copper age stuff) - and even then nobody involved expects to get a 9.9 from UNCIRCULATED books that are basically perfect and handled by a comic selling pro who has been doing this for decades......how somebody could think they are buying 9.9 books OFF EBAY from a stranger takes some epic naivety.
  13. Listed two of my bigger purchases over the last year as it seems like my family will have to start looking for a new car soon (current car got its butt kicked in by the massive snow storm that hit Buffalo/Fort Erie). Was hoping to hold onto these longer, but since they are both series I do not actively collect it makes sense to move em to the top of my to-sell list in case of an emergency. Send me a message here if you are interested, as I'm much happier to massively cut down these prices for fellow boardies. Action Comics #29 (1940) - 1st Lois Lane cover / Checking Copy https://www.ebay.ca/itm/234837732430 Albedo #2 (1984) - 1st Usagi Yojimbo / Signature Series https://www.ebay.ca/itm/234837751816
  14. Ideally the price corrects on some of the books I have earmarked for sale, put that money aside for a big key purchase (hopefully not a new car after our current one got messed up in the recent winter storm here) Find a nice epic Restored or Qualified key book, for cheap, that I can work my magic on as I continue my conservation experiments. Aquire at least one Tales of Suspense pedigree book that features the gold armour Iron Man.
  15. Did you buy it as a GRADED 9.8 or did you just overpay for a raw book that you thought was a 9.8?
  16. I posted this in the NS pedigree thread but never got an answer, maybe you all could help: can anybody help confirm if the issue of More Fun Comics #70 I have is a Nova Scotia pedigree? There is a very obvious M on the cover, though hard to see in my photos. It almost seems like a previous own might have slightly erased it during cleaning (as the part that overlaps the red ink in the title is noticeably darker, as if it wasn't touched)? It was sent to CGC and they did not mark it as such (I have no documentation)
  17. PSA, I think it goes without saying but just in case; Anyone who posts Ultimate Fallout Facsimile Edition Clayton Crain Acetate Variant as one of their top three purchases of the year will be immediately ejected from the boards, and professional help will be called for both their mental health / brain damage, and to offer assistance in reevaluating their collecting goals. ;)
  18. Right! I keep thinking it as a NG that made it in the world after all Have at thee! The other two first issues of the Trinity (Batman #1 and Superman #1) are valued so much more than this one I figured it was a great time to snag whatever I could get before the universe corrected this blunder! Originally was going to keep it raw and try hunting down more wraps/covers for it but realized how crazy hard that would be and just made peace with what I had (which really was the most important bits - the origin story and first Ares appearance is basically all there)
  19. Posted this in a few other places, but this is my latest crack and 'upgrading' coverless books I bought. Purchased it as a pile of scraps, missing both the front and back covers. I knew that so long as I could replace ONE of the cover sides it would be possible to obtain an 0.5 (which is a massive difference in price when compared to an NG - basically I was striving to make this a "Buy the grade, not the book" rather than "Buy the book, not the grade", impressive display for absolute lowest cost possible). Tracked down a replacement back cover and put it all together with a reproduction front cover.
  20. Justifies me thinking a 9.2 silver age book I have, with a similar sized chunk out of the back cover, feels like it really is a 9.8!
  21. So far all my favourite purchases have been absolute low grade trash that I spruced up in order for them to be the best possible display pieces for a collection ;) Bought this BB28 for super cheap (in a pile of some other wrecked books) Turned it into this proper graded grail (found a real back cover for it - you can see it partially folded over the upper left corner on the front cover, added in a reproduction front cover) Bought this one coverless and missing a few wraps (though the first story featuring her origin and Ares is basically all there, minus the intro splash page that doesn't really impact the story) and just added in a reproduction cover. I figured it was a very good time to get at least some copy of what is basically DC's other epic Trinity #1 book (In my opinion woefully undervalued when compared to Superman #1 and Batman #1) and the last I guess would be this epic grail I actually have zero interest in It was a grail my best friend always wanted but could never afford, but he finally got it in a trade this year (partial trade towards an AF15 he was selling)...unfortunately sudden family obligations meant he had to sell this before it even arrived back from the signing/grading. I bought it off him in order to keep it 'in the family' so he can have visitation rights Will sell it one day, but for now I guess it now sits among my biggest books in my collection.
  22. Finally, Sony padding out the rest of the members for their Sinister Six.
  23. Okay i'm now in the #28 club...after having built this in a cave! With a box of scraps! Literally...a pile of ripped up pages (many taped together that I had to remove), and missing the front and back covers (so I hunted down a replacement back cover and installed a facsimile front cover in order to make this the best looking for display, bottom of the barrel key ever). How it started... ...how it turned out.
