  1. Are the Batman book the only ones we have eyes on at the moment for this, or has other books been previewed (I'm holding out to pick up some low grade Adventure and More Fun)?
  2. I'm way more interested now that I see there are so many affordable low grade books (0.5 and restored!), a good change to pick some up for chhhheeeeaaapp (except for the buyer’s premium of 25%)
  3. And? It's still associated with a very famous serial killer case. That is all that matters in the greater pop culture scene. I would say ALL crime adjacent memorabilia do not have 'good association' but that is moot to those collecting such things (letters, evidence, signatures etc). I'm just saying this alone makes the pedigree stand out compared to other ones that have a stock 'comic collector' back story to them - that's all, not doing any moralizing on it one way or another.
  4. No, no...you got it wrong. This is just Godzilla in the bathtub playing with his toy boat.
  5. He was not the killer, but it still remains associated with a major serial killer so pretty much everyone will know something already if you simply mention 'green river'.
  6. Counterpoint: Everyone here is looking at this too much from their historic value to the comic community, and should be looking at it from a value from an outsiders desire, specifically general pop culture standpoint if long term value is what you are after (as well as a story that can be explained to basically everyone and won't fundamentally just boil down to 'he collected lots of comics'). To that end, Green River pedigree is one of the tops. Serial killers and the stories surrounding them are big, and always have a following due to new shows & media constantly being revisited, so to have an entire pedigree associated with such a well known case makes it desirable to those who are outside of the comic hobby
  7. I think my copy might need a little more than $200 worth of conservation to get to that from 2.0
  8. That is what I'm assuming the bidders are hoping for, I did something similar two years ago when I bought up this #69 and had it conserved, though that still cost a few hundred bucks to do so and I can't see that #71 going above a 2.5 at most as well (which makes the above sold price still crazy, as at least in my case I bought it for cheap so the cost of conservation was still within budget)
  9. That crackle is so very sweet, and puts this cover up there as perhaps one of the most iconic of the series...and that's saying lots since basically any of the full-helmet Fate covers can be argued to be some of the best of the run.
  10. One thing to note, is that might be a Nova Scotia pedigree...however based on my experience you would have a very tough time convincing CGC to recognize it so hopefully the bidders were not banking on that (I have other More Fun books from this era that have similar 'm' marking on the cover and none of them were recognized by CGC as pedigree even when I asked them to regrade and take another look) once again I find myself super pleased that I bit the bullet and 'settled' for a cheap restored copy three years ago...cost me less than half the price that demolished raw copy sold for today
  11. Ugh, ANOTHER pedigree that is cheapening the entire hobby :P oh the irony ;)
  12. I'm a simple man, and out of this entire new universe/lineup all I want is: 1) The Swamp Thing movie to be decent (They can honestly go in any direction with it. If they want a lighter movie then go full camp like the originals, or serious dark like the TV show which did a great job). I'm just happy to see him on screen again and have him reintroduced into pop-culture. 2) One of the 'unknown' character movies to be a massive bonkers gangbusters success that brings is so much money it makes WB greedy and has them 100% greenlight an Hourman movie, hoping to strike gold twice with a lesser character. Just give me CRANK with a costume and it will be perfect. GIVE ME MY HOURMAN!
  13. How about big discount? Kastner Auctions Canada. $41k Canadian (~$30k US). Pretty decent price for whoever snagged it - I guess many were not looking for PSA graded books (Though I think that number does NOT include the BP of 17%, so I guess that puts it more in line with the last sale on GPA) edit: I've been told that in this case the BP was actually lowered to just 5%, down from the original 17%. So that would be a much better deal now though I can't find that info to confirm it anywhere on the site so take it with a grain of salt.
  14. That is only the first Valiant appearance, Four Color #596 is the original 1st appearance.
  15. On site medics are omitted, required for basically every shoot and while smaller shoots often only need to have one on site the larger productions I've known used at least two (I personally know a few nurses who get called on for shoots done here in Toronto). These are also separate from any of the medical team associated with the stunt crew (as the specialties are often much different if you need to know how to put out a man on fire as opposed to just handling sprains/cuts/bruises from random crew injury)
  16. The word of mouth on this movie alone from people I know is pretty bad, so I'll be waiting to watch it for free via streaming. Was hoping it was going to be a so-bad-its-good kind of 80s camp throwback, but no, it's just slop.
  17. Many are thinking that the studios broke down because of this upcoming bill that would make striking workers in California eligible to receive unemployment benefit - which means the studios know they wouldn't be able to wait out / starve out the strikers long term if they were all covered by EI. https://deadline.com/2023/09/california-bill-wga-sag-unemployment-state-senate-vote-1235546032/
  18. I posted this on one of the main comic groups on Facebook so plenty of people saw it, but I don't think there is much new here that those on these boards are not aware of. Lots of scammers trying to grade reprint pages as legit, so if you are in the market for one better to make sure it is graded by CGC as any other option might have missed the obvious tells (I was lucky enough to get a full refund by ebay for this though).
  19. Yup she is clearly in the trailer, all my money is on them killing her but wussing out regarding actually going forward with baby-murder. I hope that I'm wrong and this movie goes all the way with hitting Aquaman with a very dark, low point in his (alleged) trilogy.
  20. Finally watched it, thankfully with lowered expectations. It wasn't the worst DC fare we've got in recent years, but it wasn't that good. Was a slog in many parts and really suffered from what felt like an overload of forced humor and forced references. You could have cut every single scene talking about his caloric intake and food and it would have had zero impact on the film (would have made it better). Visually it was all over the place, had this been pushed to be streaming only I think it would have gotten far more leeway on visual critiques (but for a major theatrical blockbuster the standard is higher for getting the small things right). To its credit it was by far the best DC team up we've got so far (for Justice League at least, minor ones still outshine this with Suicide Squad) and did feel like a shlock comic book story arc event put to film (for good and bad) I found alt-Barry annoying at first, but that was the point, so it fit in well and I do like how they became so obsessed at the end it resulted in Dark Flash (maybe wish we had a little more screen time of him interfering, but was fine as-is). Ezra was fine, so in the end of all the problems I had with the movie very little had to do with them (overall they are near the bottom of whatever list of negatives hurt this movie honestly). 100% a better watch than Black Adam, but still only around a 5-6 out of 10.
  21. Totally just noticed I hadn't joined the club yet with my recent repair job. Cheapest way to get a grail that still has a grade AND looks decent for display.
