  1. Just to add to what @MattTheDuck has said: If you made a submission before 2021 but no longer have the original email notification that was sent you can still message me directly and I might be able to help source it and add you & your books to the list of those outstanding.
  2. No, that is not their job. The police are not going to investigate this if you just walk in and tell em some mean man isn't giving you back your funny books. This has to go through actual legal channels to get any sort of traction, a process that can be very expensive and time consuming (hence why one-off individuals who are wronged often cannot do anything meaningful about it). Cops won't even investigate if you tell them exactly where your stolen car is currently located (seriously...it is a very sad common occurrence at this point both in the USA and Canada). Sure you can go in and make a complaint there, but let's be honest...it isn't going to amount to much other then a paper in a file until someone with means/status comes along to complain or take legal action they can afford to bankroll themselves. For most people without the funds/time the most they can do often amounts to only registering a complaint through proper channels(such as justice.oregon.gov), and mayyybeee if they are well off enough start to fight in small claims court.
  3. FYI, for those waiting on anything from Mike be aware that nothing is happening for at least another few weeks at this point. I am sharing this reply since he explicitly told me to share it. It sounds like nobody else is shipping books out for him (and based on another previous email to me it sounds like he cannot even afford to mail out books anymore, thus the 'shipping department' is not active until he can work elsewhere part time to fund it) This was the reply I got when I simply asked him to clarify if his last response to me was an auto-reply email or if he did in fact read my email. The context of my email was: informing him that people are reaching out to me about the data I have on him possibly for use in legal action, and asking about my ONE book that he said he would have mailed out two weeks ago - which isn't about my greed but the fact is since he promised that date I informed the other restoration expert on this promised timeline, this new pro is being very gracious in taking on my book into an already packed schedule as a favour to both me and Mike to help out - so to keep him waiting longer & in the dark is disrespectful to his time and magnanimity. Yes "I care about my book" but it's because he explicitly stated when he would mail it out, and the fact him restoring this one book (which is still incomplete) is in lieu of payment for years of web development, SEO optimization, and tech support.
  4. Can anyone else here sound off if they are still waiting for books to be returned, specifically books that were out for restoration work and might not be complete? My current timeline: In the summer he said he would be able to get back to my book and finish it this fall (started in 2020). September hits and I'm told the timeline will be pushed another four months. Oct 5th roles around and he changed his mind and is now opting to go with my original idea (pitched to him back in August) of sending it to another pro to finish doing the work on. Silence until I checked in again Nov 11th, when he said he would ship my book out that following week, which passed with no updates. I emailed today and it sounds like he isn't reading emails fully anymore and with no indication when he will mail it out.
  5. Golden Age ends as soon as the books i'm buying can be affordably found in high grade
  6. He went 'forward' to view them in as much as I can fast forward a VHS, doesn't mean I lived that entire movie even though I skipped to the end of it to see what happens. Nothing in the movies, nor or associated fiction and supplementary material, ever implied he lived out each and every one of those possibilities.
  7. He literally said in the film that he looked forward in time to view all alternate futures to view all the possible outcomes. He didn't live through any of those.
  8. While I hope it isn't the case, I'm getting the feeling that those three other costumes are going to be in there for only a quick second at most during some sort of glimpse at a future that might be for the characters involved and not necessarily part of the actual story.
  9. The most unserious thing ever said on these comic boards.
  10. At least it looks like it is attempting to show us other Marvel characters in actual costumes....so it's got that going for it, right? But seriously, I'm actually interested in this (to stream at least) as I'm happy to get whatever comic movies that might even slightly stray from the typical formula, and this one is at least looks to be giving Final Destination vibes. Could still very much be a wreck, but at least it doesn't look 110% by-the-numbers-what-we've-seen-before-drek
  11. If it is flaking within the slab or in my hands, hard pass, otherwise I also don't take CGC's PQ designation seriously most of the time so I tend to be fine with 'Slightly Brittle' (I do try to avoid outright Brittle books, but will accept that if it is for a very rare book I could otherwise never afford). I've bought many raw books advertised as Slightly Brittle and they handled & graded just fine above that, and I've also owned raw books that looked to have decent PQ but came back Slightly Brittle.
  12. Bags? That's fancy! My main long box of books I like to constantly re-read is nearly all loose books!
  13. This is the first I've heard of this development (have not looked into his site since the last thread)
  14. First and only price drop for the weekend! Take it for $1200 shipped. GPA reference: Closest recent grade sales include a 3.0 that last sold in Dec 2022 for $1161, and a B-2 restored 3.0 which sold this year for $900.
  15. Please no hall of shamers or probies. I will ship anywhere in North America (shipping included now), but worldwide please PM me for estimate. All prices are in USD, and I only accept Pay Pal (or e-transfer for fellow Canadians). No returns on graded books unless damaged during shipping. First timestamped gets it over any ongoing PM offers. Action Comics #29 (1940) CGC 3.5 "1st" Lois Lane cover. The colors on this copy are very impressive, still deep and vibrant, making it excellent to display. Case is in excellent condition, with no blemishes/scratches/cracks. This is a rarer CHECKING COPY. Checking copies were intended for the editors or "checkers" of ad copy, in order to make sure all ad copy & placement was correct. Checking copies would often have check marks in pencil on each ad throughout the book when confirming that they were correct by staff/advertisers. They would also often have a CHECKING COPY stamp on the cover indicating it as such (This copy has the stamp; see picture of front cover), and used in the actual process of manufacturing the issue before it was fully printed and sent for sale - Checking copies are often regarded as TRUE first prints of a book as they would have been mean before the complete print run was done to make sure everything was correct first. Checking copies were never meant for sale or circulation, only for the manufacturing process as a form of quality control. Graders Notes: light, multiple crease full left of back cover / moderate tanning interior cover / multiple crease full top of front cover / small dried glue top of spine / split bottom of all wrap / split top of all wrap / split top of spine / wear spine breaks color $ SOLD
  16. Since I'm priced out of ever owning a complete copy this single page was my best option for getting my second favourite Bat-villian first appearance; Clayface (my main favourite is Scarecrow, which I luckily do own a coverless copy of his first appearance) Choose this page since it shows him in action, on a film set, and has Batman/Robin mentioning his NAME in panel (which I actually find important to have on some single pages - helps with recognition/context)...also a big bonus is him basically successfully killing Robin had Batman not rescued him from the water
  17. I'm glad it found a good home, albeit for only a short time ;) GLWTS!
  18. I am actually very surprised you were not familiar with Alan Smithee prior to this considering all the movie stuff you post I started a Smithee collection on my DVD shelf back in college, but I quickly stopped when I realized I would have to buy an a new copy of Bloodlines and Supernova to replace my VHS copies and the money was better spent on other things. The Smithee credit you'll see on lots of TV show episodes (more so than movies). As for Dune, your next experience has to be the 4 hour cut!
  19. The good news is that so far the show looks great, the bad news is don't assume we are getting the exact comic character as the director has stated “Her power in the comic books is that she can copy anything, any movement, any whatever. It’s kind of lame. I will say, that is not her power.” (also I did totally groan when I saw them use 'lame' as a pejorative in this context... )
  20. That is tough, but for sure nowhere near the high it was selling for last year. No real decent sales data for untrimmed restored copies this year, and not many B1 sales listed either so exact data is out of the question. I'll keep it to examples where both a restored and unrestored copy were sold this year only: A C1 2.5 sold this year for $720 (while the Universal equivalent sold for $1025), and a 3.5 C1 (Staples Replaced ONLY) sold for $840 (and for comparison a Universal 3.5 sold last month for $2175..this shows the restored selling for only 39% of the value) On the trimmed side a 4.5 C1 sold for $1080, while the same universal grade sold for $2200 (and a Universal UK variant sold for $1795 this month) A Universal 5.0 last sold this September for $3400, and the most recent B1 sale was a trimmed 5.0 in April for $2000 (58% difference in value compared to a Universal). I would typically say that is your floor price right there, but the 3.5 sale I mentioned above with very little restoration on it shows how wide the price difference can swing at any moment so I wouldn't be surprised it goes much lower ($1500 maybe) - so who knows!
  21. The boards are not really the place to get price checks, so I'll just say what everyone else might comment; use Ebay Sold if you want a free resource, or pay for a GPA subscription. Also we can't provide a good price estimate anyways because we need more information; what level of restoration is it? What is the PQ (mainly only impacts price if it is Brittle or Slightly Brittle)
  22. This thread got me curious so I decided to crack out a Bronze key today, graded on 08/10/2022, it had a single sheet of micro chamber paper in the centrefold.
  23. I don't think anyone here is under any real illusion about what is 'white'...us proper folk were raised with the OWL card
