  1. Hi Ken...... IMO and I just buy not in marketing at all. The 13 shirt just like the one Todd is wearing is the cat meow :baiting: . This one is good but man you want to get me going.... the 13 please :cloud9:

    Just IMO..........

    TEAM TODD RULES...... (worship)

    Hey Ken!

when the 13 shirt comes out :takeit:

P.S. Voting TODD for best of 2013 now!

  2. Got my hands on an LBCC variant at the show. I was able to pick out a nice copy. There were a lot of damaged books in that 250. I saw about 50 copies and about half of them had damage near the bottom left corner (they said it was the shipping). Heard from the guys at the Skybound booth that the Ottley Variant was very under ordered. Like 2,500 copies. Also, saw Ryan Ottley at the show.

  3. I think AMC has done really well with the show. HBO or cable tv would add what? Adult language and nudity? Not that I mind some T&A, but how would that add to the show? The gore factor is already there and like others have said the character plots have been pretty good. I stopped reading the books and then started again only to see another character get beaten beyond recognition - haven't read another book since. So I prefer to watch the TV version and liked this season's premiere.

I never said AMC is doing a bad job. I just think that there's some things that they cant show on AMC. Michonne getting tortured and then getting her revenge on the Governor, Baby's and mothers being shot at the same time, Cannibals, Etc.

You ever notice that they dont show people actually killing other non-zombie people with the gore factor? But if that person is a zombie they can be killed indiscriminately... ie Shane, Merle, Sophia

  4. Uhhhh it must be just me because this was the first season I was not excited for the TWD season to kick off.

Last night's episode I felt it was the same old they get in their vehicles to find food only to have a random breakdown in their efforts and a non-important character dies. (shrug)

I think if I didn't read the comic I would enjoy this show more, but I feel the show and the comic are just so vastly different I can't enjoy the show as much anymore.

It's like Kirkman made his mark in life by shocking you all the time in the comic and now on the TV show he is playing it safe and regurgitating the same formula that makes him no different than any of the other TV shows ever made. Season 4 is not looking any different from last season or the one before.

Again I guess I am in the minority here cause it seems most you guys are still really enjoying the show, but I almost fell asleep watching it last night. :sorry:

Besides season 2's ender with Michonne appearing in what I would call a cool comic book style scene all the other story-lines they tried to adapt from the comic book series were very lackluster. Killing Lori any other way from that which she died in the comic was the first sign to me that Kirkman was going to screw up the Prison arc and IMO he did very badly.

I agree with a lot of your points. Especially the way they killed Lori. I get that they can't tell the story exactly like it is in the comics. But moments like that are what set the comic apart from every other zombie story out there.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show. But I watch it knowing that my expectations should be tempered. I think the big problem is that the show is on cable TV (AMC). Could you imagine if the show was on HBO...

  5. The greatest thing about comics are the creators. Chew fans are lucky to have a creative team like John and Rob. Hanging with John this weekend was awesome. (thumbs u

    (worship) howd you manage that?

He was at Phoenix Comicon this past weekend. John is always a cool guy to talk to at conventions!

  6. I always have a tough time starting auctions that high. I have better luck starting something like that at 9.99 or even just .99 and setting a reserve at 59.99, hoping to get it to the 79.99.

It seems like it's hard for people to bid $60 to start with. Easier for people to bid a few bucks and get caught up in the auction.

  7. Also, I mentioned the boards and how he has a lot of support on here and the first thing out of his mouth was...

    "Do you know Jeff Branget?!"

    lol!

    :shy:

    :gossip:

Not to worry! He spoke very well of you! And mentioned how you flew him out to Canada and everything... and how he probably made you "A LOT" of money. lol!

  8. Talked to John Layman at WonderCon and he said that there are talks opening up again with another studio for a possible T.V. Show. He said he wasn't at liberty to say with who though... Nothing concrete but he seemed excited!

Also, John is such a COOL guy! He will literally sign anything you put in front of him and talk shop about Chew, TEC and anything/everything else.Great experience getting to meet him!

  9. Curious - what is everyone paying for the Ghost variant, and are you getting them from mail orders or your LCS? I apologise if I am breaking some unwritten rule by asking...

    -slym

I've heard as low as cover price (not likely,) next lowest is $6.

The average paid is $12-20 per and the most I've heard is $25. A good mix of mail order and directly from the LCS. The LCS will be the cheaper option in most cases since they will most likely to use the Ghost Program to help reward their regular subscription base.

I got mine for cover at my LCS. And got them for $10 at Wondercon. But both had a limit of 2 per person though. Somehow I ended up with 10.

  10. My understanding is that the OA that does exist is actually a recreation of pages that he thinks would be desirable (and e is holding them as some sort of "nest egg"). I wouldn't touch them.

Nick Dragotta told me at WonderCon that he is doing it mostly digital. Only the covers and certain panels that he feels are important to the series are being done by hand. But he is not selling those because he is invested in the series and plans on doing the series as long as Hickman lets him.

BUT, he does take commissions. I got a nice "Crow" and saw a few really good looking ones of "Death" pointing his pistol!

I know its, "pictures or it didnt happen" .. so pictures will follow!

  11. If anyone has any idea of the OA available, please pm me!! Gawd I loved this book!

Went to a signing yesterday with Dragotta and he said most of it is digital. But the covers and a few key pages that he thinks will be valuable, he did by hand. More importantly, he said he is not selling! (shrug) He was a cool guy though and I did manage to get a sketch! :whee:

    Pix or it didn't happen

  13. I'm pretty sure Riley has finished issue 6, so...not sure why there would be a delay.

Talked to Riely at ECCC and he said he finished issue 6 already. He also said the new artist was amazing and to check out some of his previous stuff.

  14. Did anyone talk to Riley at ECCC about leaving the book?

Riley was a really, really cool dude! Probably one of the coolest people I've met in all my years going to Comic-Cons. Talked with him for a bit and I asked him about why he was leaving the book. Without him giving out all the details, and this may be me reading into what he said, but I got the impression that he wanted a little more "creative" freedom.

He did say that he was super excited cause he's going to be working on a book with The Rza and Ghostface Killah from the Wu-Tang Clan!!!

He was even cool enough to hook up a Madder Red sketch on the back of my #1 Phantom Variant!!!
