  1. Hey G.A.tor,

If you had to choose between Superman 2 and Action Comics 23, which would you pick and why? (Assuming same grade, page quality etc.)

Action 23 all day. Uncommon, first lex, high demand.

Thanks G.A.tor. That confirms what I thought. What is price per point on Action 23s these days anyways?

2k per point lower grades. 2500-3k mid grade... No hg sales in a while

Thanks G.A.tor. I always appreciate your help. (thumbs u

  3. This time of year, in addition to looking through my comic collection, is when

I'm happy to bring out my MARX TRAIN SET that I received in 1939 and while

the track is a little worn in some spots, still runs...it's the transformers that had

to be replaced over the years.

This is just fantastic. It looks to be in phenomenal shape even after all these years. (thumbs u

  4. So deal is done with Bunky Brian and just paid him today. Don't have the book yet but a little excited to own a complete blue label copy of this book.

    Here it is folks:

    Congratulations Rick!!!!!!!!!!!!

And thanks Keith!! It's finally done :acclaim:

Now it's time to shoot for that Action 1 :baiting:

  5. I wanted the tec 32 but the top staple looks completely rusted. :(

I thought you were going to buy that one Peter and get Kenny to replace the staple.

Yeah but that would make it purple. No ?

Have 0 issues with a purple 32 but not at a 10k price tag.

It might make it a conserved purple but not a restored purple. (shrug)

Anyways, I totally get what you are saying, especially for 10k

  6. Tec 36 CGC 4.5 blue sold on CLink last night for $13,750. Previous sale in the same grade was only three months ago @ $12,200. Seller did very well, considering they bought the book raw on eBay only a few months ago. The book presents much better after a press, and possible dry cleaning (?).

And...I thought coverless but complete Tec 27's were roughly $30k...? And yet, a coverless copy / no centerfold / slightly brittle just sold for $27,500. Wow.

I have to admit that I was a little surprised about the Tec 36 price being so high, but then again, nothing surprises me in the Pre-Robin Tec world anymore. As for the Tec 27, possibly the fact that it was incomplete and didn't have the best page quality kept it under 30k. (shrug)

BARELY under $30k. My point was that I thought the Tec 27 price was HIGH. The trifecta of coverless / incomplete / brittle is pretty brutal. I think there's a HUGE difference between coverless but complete, and coverless / incomplete / brittle (and I would expect that to be reflected in the price). Makes me wonder what a coverless but complete copy would sell for now.

I guess the take home message from the recent CL auction is that all the Pre-Robins sold for higher prices than expected. These Pre-Robins keep going for crazy prices with no slow down in sight. :ohnoez:

  8. I'm hearing harbough to michigan. Texas isn't looking (they will give strong at least 2 more years). Chip Kelley would be my personal pick if doable

I would be surprised to see Kelley leave the Eagles to go to Florida.

so would I, but that would be who I would like to see Fl make a run at...

and butt fumble threw 2 picks and fumbled 2x yesterday...even Kelley can't help that train wreck

You know G.A.tor that Lane Kiffin needs a new head coaching job. :baiting:

  10. Rick, have you ever found a new coach for the Gators by just driving through an old neighborhood and asking people out your window?

Rick, are you driving through an old neighborhood now?

    But seriously:

    1) Did this surprise you he/they didn't wait until the end of the season?

    2) Is Florida still a destination coaching job?

    3) Who do the Gators get?

1-nope. He's been gone for almost a month now.

    2-absolutely

3- top 3 names I hear are stoops, Rodriguez and Mullen. Non of which will be offered job IMO

    So Rick,

Who would you like to see as their new coach?

If have to give it some thought. Not Mullen or stoops. Not strong. Maybe harbough?

Not a bad choice. What about somebody like Gruden?

  12. I understand that there were a number of science fiction stories published in the 1930's based on the myth of Shambala, but I'm having difficulty tracking them down and I'm curious to know what they were (see Serendip). Any ideas guys?

I'm currently in Oregon attending my nephew's wedding.

When I return home I'll go through my pulps and see if I can find anything.

    Thanks BZ.

    My pleasure.

We'll be here for another 9 days.

We're presently in Eugene but we will also be spending a few days in Salem and Portland.

If anyone knows of any cool shops, museums, or tourist attractions you can recommend,

    I'd appreciate hearing about them.

Anyone know if BZ had a good time in Eugene? I grew up there and attended UO. I hope he enjoyed it. I've been missing his posts.

Sfcityduck, I have to go Eugene every few months for work. Is there any cool places you recommend to check out besides Nostalgia Collectibles? Any recommendations would be awesome.

  13. Hey G.A.tor,

    Florida Football two-part question:

1)Do you think Will Muschamp will be the Gators head football coach next season?

2)Do you think it is time for the program to move in another direction?

    1-unlikely

2-yes, back to the fun and gun...bring back spurier!

Do you think he would leave the Gamecocks to come back to Florida? hm

  14. 2nd highest graded copy.

GORGEOUS book! And one of my favorites of the run (worship)

Thanks man! Love the cover as well. Took a while to find a nice copy.

Don't know why Sandman books are so undervalued..

Rick that Sandman book looks amazing. Bravo! I love those early Adventure Sandman covers.
