  1. So what is fmv on the Tec 31 5.0? I think eye appeal might play a factor in the sale price.

Agreed. Also, page quality may play a factor. That being said, based on what the CGC 4.5 copy sold for in March on CC, I would guess 100k or so.

Idle speculation from the cheap seats, but I have a suspicion he would take an offer of $100K.

    My thoughts exactly.

What did the 4.5 sell for?

    86K

  3. Thread Bump. I was able to pick this up on CC tonight. A special thanks goes out to GoldenPRGuy (Andrew) for supplying a lot of Archie wisdom along the way in my quest to pick up a copy of Archie #2.

    :applause:

Thanks Andrew. Between losing the recent ebay and HA auctions, I wasn't going to let this one slip away no matter what.

  4. PQ is only one factor and it's impact on a final price is contingent with other factors such as eye appeal. Crunching numbers will not automatically provide the answer to such a subjective concern. PQ is ultimately going to be part of the larger "buy the book and not the label" mentality. It will not, by itself, be the "silver bullet". GOD BLESS...

Absolutely, everyone agrees that PQ affects the final value/price of a book, but it's not the only factor. And yeah, you certainly can't attempt to draw conclusions from a limited sample of reported sales on GPA without knowing all the other factors (e.g. eye appeal) that went into the sales price. Great Post :golfclap:

  5. Very curious to see what happens with the Tec 27 CBCS 3.0 - and if the price is "soft" relative to CGC. If so, smart money is on a quick resub through CGC. I know if I was in the market for a Tec 27 I would be all over this one.
you haven't thought about owning two? (shrug)

Thought about it...? Absolutely! I've also thought about being a rock star, a professional tennis player, a movie star...

isn't that what you are already ... in your free time ?

  6. Nothing earth-shattering, just a little low grade goodness here.

If I can remember how to resize it I'll replace the raw with graded in my sig line.

Beautiful Leroy! Looks like a VG :cloud9:

    +1

This book does present VG. There must be dome hidden defects we are missing.

    Oh...just caught spine split.

CGC ceiling grade is 1.8 for completely split spine.

I will take any spine split 1.8 that looks like that all day long.

  8. That just looks like white paper that was glued to the covers, and in the case of the front cover, colored in to match (sort of).

Lousy amateur restoration and brittle pages, but it is complete, and the art area isn't defaced.

Someone will be happy to have a relatively cheap very low grade copy when the auction is over.

They will. This book is rapidly going the way of Pep 22 and Archie 1.

Do you really think so Steve? If it were a few years ago I would agree with you, and seeing as how I have a great copy I would like to, but I feel like over the last two years I've seen one story after another about people trying to strip it of its significance... usually trying to call attention and value to their Pep 23 or top-notch 24, etc.

Thanks for posting the link Keith!

No problem Andrew. I thought Jackpot 4 had really increased in desirability over the last few years among Archie collectors. (shrug)

Thanks rjpb. That confirms what I was thinking the more I looked at the pictures.

  10. Great Trailer. Did you watch Daredevil Netflix yet?

Yes. I loved it. I thought it slowed down a little in the last few episodes, and I'm not a fan of the suit, but I thought it was an awesome show.

I'm really enjoying Powers too. It's not in the same class at all, it's low budget and looks it, but the story is well done.
