  1. i wonder what the first appearance will end up going for. Wizard magazine? DC office memo. Ennis's CAT scan.
  2. Yes, that is the first thing that sprang to mind when I saw that in the comic. However, the Arch is (relatively) current and definitively human-made.. What I had in mind were things that we take for granted as being "natural" but are not. This doesn't have to be the entire basis for the story, but would provide some nice "a-ha" moments.
  3. Didn't see this directly addressed in the article, but what I like about my historical fiction is making the new/crazy/fiction have immediacy to actual events. Meaning, instead of just having L & C fighting a bunch of monsters in the Americas, for instance, you find out the Grand Canyon is not naturally formed, but actually a hole dug out by minotaurs to divert a river to their homeland. (Or something much more interesting. Couldn't think of anything good this early in the AM.)
  4. Actually I had been trying to find one for awhile but hadn't seen on on eBay till this week and bid high from the start and lost out. 2 more came up this week so one of them will be mine (starting to sound like Thanos) In other IG news. Earlier in the year, I purchased these 15 boxes of 90's drek from a storage hunter. The books were from a store that had closed (I assume based on the number of multiple copies of books). In there were several Infinity Gauntlet #1's none were NM condition so I decided to sell the entire IG lot of books (a little from each series) and three #1's. I think I got $20 bucks for the lot. When I began to pack them I noticed something different on the covers from other IGs that I had in the past. The books had been signed in gold ink by Perez. I asked the buyer if he still wanted them and of course he said yes. I was upset I didn't get to keep one but oh well, that's how the cookie crumbles. There is also a signed copy but I'd rather get it signed myself if I decided to go that route. Your thread has been great reading, I agree some of those Warlock issues are great (this series introduced Warlock for me, and he's one of my favorite characters) I'll post my winnings soon Did these signed copies of IG #1 also happen to have a bunch of store stamps on the back? I'm from the Chicago area as well and didn't notice the gold signature either until I came across a piece of paper saying it was signed further down in the lot.
  5. X-Force 2 is still not the 2nd appearance of Deadpool. Do you have a "Deadpool" + "Appearance" alert set somewhere?
  6. I wish. And I think that's a Copper book, or at least on the cusp.
  7. Not from this week (from WW Chicago), but finally got them put away:
  8. The first one sold (the seller ended the auction). Probably went for > 2 grand. Cover detached, rusty staples, centerfold loose, bad stains, etc. But still a number 4. Top one went for $1,750 (plus $40 shipping).
  9. Ditto with picking up Warlock issues. Problem is that whole HIM thing confuses his "real" 1st appearance, etc.
  10. Frank - Thanks for the quick - and detailed - reply. Learn something new every day. I didn't know 5G was always meant to be a collection of minis; I didn't do my homework on that front and assumed the Five of Five meant it was the end. So another question: What is the difference - at least for 5G - between doing a collection of minis versus an ongoing with different arcs? Is it mainly adhering to a more defined release schedule and how that fit in with your other work?
  11. So I finished up the first arc(?) the other night and without spoiling anything, it ends with a lot more to explore. Question: How far into the process does a publisher say/ask for a mini to become ongoing in order to give the creator(s) time to shift storylines? I'm guessing if 5G stayed a mini this loose end would have been tied up by the end, or at least tied a little tighter.
  12. Hmm, I'll have to check the sub I got back a few weeks ago for this. Wonder if they will have it fixed in-time for WW Chicago on-site.
  13. I am not the speculation master, but given the # of copies available and the distance you would have to cover, I would pass. If you want to speculate on these issues, I would check eBay first as prices have come down since the initial announcement.
  14. Is it still "worth it" to get Think Tank and Clone 1's slabbed (assuming 9.8)? When is it not "worth it" to get #1's slabbed (again, assuming 9.8)?
  15. Well, at least he/she explains it in the revised description: "It has come to my attention from eBay memebers that my first two photos do not match up. This is correct, I fear in my carelessness when I took cover photo two I accidentally took out peice of the front cover all from its side. I apologize I did not see this error. Thanks for users pointing it out to me." Doesn't appear too concerned that this accident cost him/her thousands of dollars. Not addressed: the countless other things that make the two pictures not the same book.
  16. I sold a few comics to Gino - no hassle and quick payment. A+ -- dave
  17. I thought it odd that mr.cgc was selling a raw book.... Then I scrolled down and saw in the description that ALL BOOKS ARE RAW.
  18. How is INJUSTICE doing? http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics-/63/i.html?_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=injustice+gods+among+us+1
  19. Thanks for the heads-up on this. I went to a LCS sale last night and picked up a couple copies cheap.
  20. Ken - That's Officially good news! I saw that you're going to be at a local con in a couple weeks in Illinois. What are you going to be up to at the show? YES! I'll be at Mighty Con --- I'll be signing as a guest of the con. Would love to see you there. Here's a link to the show: http://mightycon.com/ Will you have any issues at your table/booth? -- in case the locals don't have any for sale.
  21. I think I read in the EoW thread that some stores had this problem with issue 3 last week. My LCS was fine for EoW but every copy of MP 12 had an indent running the entire length.
