  1. I put a copy of 1 and 2 up, see how it does. I'll take double $ everyday though. Why is the #1 2nd print so high? There's a stack at my LCS...perhaps I should pick those up. Lucked out getting the last copies of #1 and #2 the day they came out, but that only means the condition is sketchy.
  2. In regards to #9 spine ticks, when I went to the LCS to pick up #8, a lot (perhaps all) had some light color missing on the cover. Like the blue ink ran out right at the end. At first I thought it was rubbing, but every one I picked up had the same problem. I'll get a picture if I remember.
  3. Tape pulls can eat a book alive... Tape Pull Example Just depends on how bad it is... glad you have some others though. Uf! Luckily, not as bad as that (near upper-right corner):
  4. I sold a 9.6 blue label #1 for 90 this week. should have spared that 9.4, eh? I picked up 1 more #1 first print and I know have 4 total. I'm keeping 'em for now, even if they come back 9.4's (I don't think they will though). I'm still debating on CGCing my 2nd - 5th print of #1... we'll see. May do a prescreen later this year and add those in. I bought one of those infamous 9.8s off the boards a little while ago and have 3 #1's raw. Problem is I took one out to scan and ended up putting it on the wrong side of a self-adhesive sleeve. Now a certain 9.8 has a nice tape pull on the back. Any idea how much this will bring it down? Could I possibly hope for a 9.6? Hoping the other two will make up for it.
  5. Still happening Already got away with it Just wrong... absolutely WRONG - Hope NEGATIVE feedback happens It's actually the same seller with the "rare" direct sales Death of the Family variants w/o a cover. Not sure if I should be surprised. About 20 listings down. Also interesting how the real variant (sketch) went for a fraction of the fakes. http://www.ebay.com/csc/westcoastpowercomics/m.html?nma=true&item=281046756434&pt=US_Comic_Books&si=av3FJB03qA8bFh3cAD7WZOP600Y%3D&orig_cvip=true&hash=item416fb12c52&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc
  6. They look like the Direct Editions with the cardstock mask ripped off. The Newsstand versions don't say "Direct" in the UPC. My favorite part of the auction is ready to be CGC'd - yeah if you want a qualified label! Great, let's make our own variants. Someone should call the guy out on it if he is doing this. What can we do to warn general eBay users? There's nothing that forces a seller to put a question/answer in the listing if we ask if this is a comic with the cover removed. And I don't think eBay really cares. I've wanted to do "something" for a while, but was not 100% certain this was some type of variant.
  7. Saga 1 9.8s are selling for $150+, so if there is a 9.8 candidate on there, its not surprising. Also, 1x shipping versus 6x shipping to do them each solo, PLUS trying to actually win all 6....that's a lot of shipping and assuming. some people are willing to pay to get'er done, and they arent really off the mark by much. What will happen is, if there are ways of piecing it together cheaper as you say, they will sell out, or be re-priced. Al that being said, post the links, are these actual sales, or BIN prices hoping for a sale? It's an interesting situation I've noticed on the Bay and the boards (or comics in general). Usually, when a collector buys several comics from a single seller, the buyer wants/expects a discount. But if you are the seller putting together a run, shouldn't the buyer pay more for a set than individuals as they buyer now doesn't have to visit or buy from multiple locations? Basically, everyone expects to get the best deal and sometimes the two never meet.
  8. Did a blank cover & art "swap" with Chris, and also bought one of his cover swipes/re-creations. Very easy to deal with and a great artist. -- dave
  9. Not the correct forum, per se, but had to share: http://www.ebay.com/itm/House-of-Secrets-Comic-Book-VG-Rare-No-92-101-1-3-/261143816718?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3ccd626a0e Seller is not even going to comment on the woman's Van Dyke?
  10. The reason being is because fans know its a good book now so they wont pass up 3 and 4. 1 and 2 were passed up and now buyers looking to find a copy. I could have easily sold another 10 copies of 1. Best bet is selling 1 or a set of the books. I sold 1-3 sets easily. Very true. I ran into 6 sets of 1-2 at some random comic shops and sold them all within 48 hours of putting them up. Very hot. Interestingly, though, I put up a #1 variant (Spider-Man and Doc on the cover) and sold that for less than cover. I kept a couple sets for long-term and the rest of the arc (3-5) to read. -- dave
  11. I'm not sure what the Phantom output schedule looks like, but for this week and next week, there are no releases. Could be their plan from the beginning or a break to give people time to forget.
  12. I was thinking the same thing. I have Cap 6 on my "find" list for when I dig through long boxes, but every time I find one, I'm not sure it is the right one as the prices on eBay are rather bleak compared to other "hot" movie books. To be sure I'm not onto the wrong issue, these are the ones in question, right: Variant: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAPTAIN-AMERICA-6-1ST-WINTER-SOLDIER-CGC-9-8-SS-Signed-Stan-Lee-1ST-PRINT-/271121263829?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3f20162cd5 Orig: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-6-strict-NM-NM-9-2-Out-of-Time-Part-6-tons-more-Kermitspad-/360534183696?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item53f1830f10
  13. Thanks! I picked up two for cover at Graham Cracker for cover as well. I was expecting them to be @$10. Out of 20 or so copies, I only saw two 9.8's though. Still seeing a lot of bindery issues but not as bad as #1. Had a feeling you were a Graham customer based on your Loc. Do you know what their policy is on the Phantoms? I swear I bought the Deadpool within the first 7 days, but it was still marked up; perhaps because my manager had to ask another store for one? They still have a ton of FF #1 Phantom; no Capt or Hulk that I saw. Another Graham had a stack of Great Pacific, while mine had none. I saw a bindery issue on the one that my comic dude pulled for me and put in a bag; the one off the shelf looked to be pretty clean.
  14. 2 for cover price ($3.50). There was one more that I left for someone else. It's a participating store, and I think my LCS leaves them at cover price for a week then bumps them. Though that may depend on the publisher/comic, as a Deadpool #1 variant set me back $9.99 that I didn't know about until it rang up; think that was on the Saturday following its release.
  15. $41! Not bad for a $2.50 investment. Thanks HAPPY! Saw that, too. Is there an icon for eating my words? Wonder if the person who bought up the 1-10 BIN will flip the 7 right back up there.
  16. Would love to see it climb forever for greedy reasons, but $22 or so may be the ceiling. Can get a 1-10 run for $26.
  17. On release day, my LCS had 1 phantom that sold to the guy in line in front of me. The regular cover he did put back to buy the variant, I bought. Those were the only copies I saw, though I went in late on Wednesday (after work). The following week, there was 1 regular copy on the shelf; not sure where it came from. I passed as I had some coming from the bay. Went to a different store this weekend as they had a back issue sale. They had 2 phantoms for $6.99 on the shelf; no regulars. A customer picked one up and said, "I heard a lot about this one. Bedlam." (pronounced "Bed Lamb.") I bought the other copy.
  18. Anyone have an extra copy of #7 ghost to sell or trade for a Great Pacific #1 phantom?
  19. Any opinions as to whether Walking Dead 99 will "take off" and when? ala WD 61.
  20. The other night I placed an order for a few Phantom variants with Mile High at $10 apiece as listed on their site. They only gave me one, and are now listing them at $15 on the website. While I'm not 100% sure what really happened, I bought 3 copies of a single comic from Mile High via Amazon for a rather low price compared to eBay. Received an email a couple days later saying all 3 of these copies were "mis-identified" in the system and were actually a different issue number. No way to know the truth, but MH is not high on my list of stores to shop at.
  21. I wish I had those kind of results. I had an auction end for Batman 13 and Batgirl 13 for $14.50. I can't seem to get on this Death Of the Family selling bandwagon. I tried to sell Batgirl, Batman, Catwoman, and Red Hood for $44 - no takers.
  22. How much, from shipping to pressing to shipping back, does a Joey Post press run on a modern? And a general timeframe from your experience?
  23. By Sunday I may have enough eBay bucks to finally get that elusive Chew #1. Would it make more sense to buy a graded 9.6 or take my chances on an un-graded "NM" copy? It's a tough choice (I think); trying to do the right thing here. -- dave
  24. A couple sidetrack questions to the experienced sellers out there: I have a run of WD (20-80) I'm trying to sell. From what you have seen/sold, is it better to sell issues individually or in "sets" - like a block of 5 or a story set? This question is geared toward non-key issues. I also have a stack of WD TPBs - better to sell together or separate? Thanks for the info -- dave
