If memory serves, this one was a gift from my wife (then girlfriend.) One of my few pre-code horror pick-ups from a LCS.

I just watched a show on the History Channel titled "Hell:The Devil's Domain." It was a 2 hour program, and about 1:45 minutes into it they actually briefly discussed pre-code horror comics!!! :crazy: Wertham & the hearings were mentioned, along with Haunt of Fear & Tales from the Crypt, and there were some nice shots of Crypt of Terror, and a display with NUMEROUS titles from Hand of Fate to Black Magic. Cool!!!

Nice looking book, Sterling! Yes, Harvey books are quite obtainable in HG, along with the EC's. (thumbs up Yikes!!! The Graemlins look twisted! Yuck!

Andy, is that book from the Kentucky collection? Yep. Did you take a look at it? LOTS of low grade stuff, only a few gems. Nope, was out of town on vacation. Would have loved to have hooked up with you & Buck to take a gander at the collection & chat over some lunch. Vacation bills & property taxes would have kept me from buying anything, but would have liked to have browsed and talked all the same. Buck says someone swept in and purchased the remainder of the collection a couple days ago. Wow.

From Ekgren to Kubert. Not a bad lot, IMO.

HCR # 5 comes out after you and I team up on that horror mini-series I proposed.

Footnote: I tried to work out a deal with him between either a full color front/back cover, or a b&w interior piece. He wasn't having either w/out mucho $$$. He wouldn't even email me the Dagon (sic) ( ) thing! Bummer! Any info about his granddad that is worth sharing? I wish!!! He wasn't willing to even answer a few questions once it was understood I couldn't pay to see the unpublished art.

I saw a copy where someone did that. Yeah, sounds like blasphemy in hindsight, but I agree that one of the initial instincts these covers evoke certainly is the need to pick that pencil up and....

Aahh... the first of the WH Ekgren covers. Remind me to tell you all my personal Ekgren story someday....

The dragon is cool beyond words indeed, but I have a personal hang-up for intricate line work such as displayed in the "Murderers Knoll" cover section from #4. Tell you what my friend, you trade me your undercopy of #4 for my undercopy of #5 and we'll both be happy, yeah??!!

This one is not as nice as #4 IMO, but the dragon thingy is pretty cool, and for some reason the logo inks display nice.
