  1. Wow, first off I didn't know he moved to florida. Second I hadn't heard Dan passed away.
  2. Towards the end Dan's business model was buy a collection and auction it all on ebay. Which works well if you grade well and buy it cheap. Not exactly sure about Dan's grading well part of the equation. At one time Showcase New England was a very large competitor in the collection market. Now I'm not even sure if he is still on ebay.
  3. You would have to take the book out of the comic bag to know it was restored. Something Dan didn't feel warranted his time.
  4. Interesting that Dan would say that and sell Doug Schmell the Winnipeg bronze age portion of the collection for a song.
  5. Nothing like a good chart to support pricing. Always works when I whip out a chart to a buyer of one of my books. How about that May 6th - 13th chart. Imagine if I sold the book at $700 and the guy looked a week later to see it selling for $300.
  6. No. Dan also spent the most money buying collections if I remember.
  7. NWOcomics will still be playing golf in the afternoon, sending us pictures looking over the water, buying and selling copper and lecturing the boards on what you should have done. Oh wait, what's different from now?
  8. Why follow the rules? We have a 0% seller fee platform where they don't do that now.
  9. They make money on volume. Works great if all the inventory is yours.
  10. Fast track to get you to what turnaround times should be in the first place. Greatest marketing idea of all time. CGC should just advertise We do it faster at doing it slower.
  11. Why is a PGX book even being discussed on the CGC forum boards? Shouldn't this be discussed on the PGX forum boards? Oh wait, do they even exist?
  12. Jeff/Charles Dad passed away Wednesday, May 5th.
  13. Have you committed your own money to bitcoin? If not this is basically "Here is some advice I am not doing myself" I'd love those who suggest things like this to ask your wife if it is ok to dabble with "some" of your retirement fund into Bitcoin.
  14. John is full time, a full time comic bum who posts every once in awhile and spending his afternoons playing golf. .
  15. If Movie's have been announced they are already in. Be ahead of the crowd, not following it.
  16. Of course, pop them through the toaster, press them up, post them and come back throwing $20's to everyone. Get those attaboys in the copper forum, add them to the "What's hot on ebay" and Thor 339's start coming out of the woodwork. The Dealer Happy meal budget is increased to Chik Fil A across the board. Save a life today
  17. When price spreads widen the financial incentive to press increases. Whether it is the amateur or professional the allure of the profit is just too tempting. When you have guys just chuckling it up about their dollar bin to $500 book windfalls why wouldn't you want to join in the money grab?
  18. Where was the New Guard in March-May of 2020? Everybody is a bull when times are good, books never go down. When markets go down those Paper tigers turn into poor panda's. When the market falls apart let me see those New Guard checkbooks opening to buy some of this .
  19. Does anybody realize that new hires take time to become productive?
  20. Why are you posting this on a message board? People should be blowing up customer service. You know the people that will be even busier now that there is less incentive for dealers to help customers out with CGC issues.
  21. As with much of the clear concise CGC press releases I think this one flew under the radar. No mention of the $5K cap disappearing. No old fee structure table to compare the new one with.
